For a prerecorded file that must repeat continuously, AWS Elemental MediaLive has documented file-input looping: set the source end behavior to LOOP, and MediaLive ingests the file again from the beginning when it ends. Ant Media Server documents playlists of prerecorded videos and restreaming to YouTube, but its version 3.1 playlist guide does not establish automatic endless replay. If an endless loop is essential, verify the exact Ant Media version and edition before choosing it. In either case, looping the video and delivering it to YouTube are separate parts of the setup.

How MediaLive file looping works
MediaLive’s documented LOOP setting addresses what happens when a file input reaches its end: the file is ingested again from its beginning. That is a useful fit when the source itself must repeat, but it does not by itself create a complete YouTube live stream. You still need to configure the channel’s output and connect it to YouTube with the destination information YouTube provides.
For the precise controls and workflow, consult the MediaLive User Guide. The available documentation establishes the end-of-file loop behavior; it does not establish a universal turnkey YouTube configuration for every AWS architecture.
How Ant Media handles prerecorded playlists and YouTube
Ant Media Server version 3.1 documents building playlists from uploaded or accessible MP4 VoD files and using them for linear live streaming. Its social restreaming guide covers sending a stream to YouTube through an RTMP destination, and notes that the stream needs audio.

The cited playlist documentation does not say that a playlist repeats forever when it reaches its end. If you need a continuous loop rather than a scheduled or finite playlist, ask Ant Media to confirm the exact repeat behavior for the version and edition you intend to deploy. Do not assume playlist support alone means automatic infinite replay.
Configure the YouTube destination
- Get the ingest details. In YouTube Live Control Room, follow YouTube’s encoder workflow to obtain the server URL and stream key for the live stream. Treat the stream key like a password; do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not control the broadcast. YouTube: Create a live stream with an encoder
- Choose RTMPS when supported. RTMPS encrypts the connection to YouTube. Use the RTMPS server endpoint and port shown in YouTube’s current encoder instructions if your chosen encoder supports it. YouTube: Encrypt your stream using RTMPS
- Set the destination in your streaming workflow. Enter the server URL and stream key in the appropriate output or restream destination configuration. The exact setup differs between MediaLive and Ant Media; consult the product documentation for the selected deployment.
- Include audio for Ant Media’s documented YouTube restream path. Ant Media warns that YouTube does not accept a stream without audio. Confirm the outgoing stream contains an audio track, even if the program content is otherwise mostly visual. Ant Media RTMP restreaming guide
- Verify the handoff. Check YouTube Live Control Room for the incoming encoder connection and confirm the broadcast is receiving the intended program before relying on it as a continuous stream.
Compare total cost for your workload
Neither product has a single meaningful price for every continuous YouTube stream. For MediaLive, the bill depends on running inputs and outputs, add-on features, region, codecs, resolution, frame rate, and how long the resources run. A published AWS example gives a bounded illustration, not a quote for a 24/7 YouTube channel: the Live Streaming on AWS deployment guide estimates $69.74 for a one-hour event under assumptions of approximately 1,000 viewers, SD-540p, US East (N. Virginia), and standard pricing. That example includes $1.99 for MediaLive plus packaging and distribution. It should not be treated as a universal MediaLive rate or extrapolated to a month without specifying a different workload and architecture.
For Ant Media, compare the relevant license option on its pricing page and add the cost of the server instance and any other deployment components. The license alone is not a full hosted operating-cost estimate.
