Each execution of a visual validation counts as a checkpoint, so rerunning a check uses another one. The terms also default to one permitted user and one concurrent execution per user; they do not establish a separate, always-free perpetual plan.
What the Applitools free allowance includes
The current Applitools Terms of Service sets the standard Free Trial Service allowance at up to 100 visual checkpoints per month for each permitted user. The terms define a checkpoint as one execution of a visual validation.
Count executions, not just test files or test cases. If a test performs several visual validations, each validation execution can consume a checkpoint. Running the same visual validation again also counts again. The 100-checkpoint figure is monthly and per permitted user, not a shared pool for a team.
How users and concurrent runs are limited
Permitted users
The terms generally allow one specific user for the Free Trial Service unless otherwise agreed. They prohibit sharing account credentials, so the allowance should not be treated as a way for multiple teammates to use one login.

Concurrent executions
By default, a permitted user may have one concurrent execution. Applitools defines concurrent executions as simultaneously opening more than one test from the account. An order form can specify otherwise, so account-specific terms may differ.
Is there an always-free Applitools plan?
The official materials reviewed describe the general free access as a trial, not a verified perpetual free plan. The Terms of Service calls it the “Free Trial Service,” while the pricing page invites users to start a free trial and displays paid tiers. Because trial availability and account entitlements can change, check the current offer shown for your account rather than planning around ongoing free access.

Do not confuse the Storybook beta with the standard trial
Applitools has separate beta terms for its Eyes Storybook SDK. Those terms list 50,000 monthly checkpoints during the beta period, but that beta is limited to the Eyes Storybook SDK; it does not grant free Selenium or other SDK access. It is a distinct, beta-specific offer, not the standard Free Trial Service allowance.
What happens if you exceed the stated limits?
The Terms of Service says Applitools may reduce functionality or performance until a breach is corrected. If checkpoint or concurrency breaches occur more than three times, the agreement allows Applitools to terminate it immediately. Check your applicable terms and account status before relying on trial access for a production or team-wide workflow.

Paid-plan context
At the time the pricing page was accessed in 2026, it displayed Starter at $667 per month when paid annually, with 100,000 component checkpoints or 1,000 page checkpoints. The page also lists Professional and Enterprise tiers. Treat the Starter price and included quantities as the page’s displayed offer, not as a guaranteed quote or an evergreen price; confirm current pricing directly with Applitools.
How to plan a visual-testing trial
- Estimate validation executions. Count each visual validation that will run, including validations inside a test that performs more than one.
- Include reruns. Retries and repeated checks consume additional checkpoints when they execute visual validation again.
- Plan for one user and one simultaneous test by default. Do not assume a team-shared credential or parallel test execution is permitted under the general trial terms.
- Verify your account’s actual terms. Review the limits shown in your account and any applicable order form or beta agreement before scheduling a team workflow.
