To monitor one field—such as a product price or availability value—in Hexowatch, use its HTML element monitor: enter the page URL, preview it, select the element, set any required page interactions, choose a check schedule and notifications, then start monitoring. The key is to select the smallest useful signal and make sure the page reaches the state where that signal is visible before you save the monitor.
Set up a Hexowatch HTML element monitor
- Open the HTML element monitor and enter the page URL. In Hexowatch, choose the HTML element monitoring option, enter the URL you want to watch, and click Preview. See the Hexowatch HTML element monitor walkthrough for the vendor’s guided setup.
- Wait for the preview to load, then select the field. Click the target element in the preview. The walkthrough describes right-clicking the selection to open its actions area. For example, if you want to track a listed price, navigate to the pricing page and select the price itself rather than a larger section that includes unrelated content.
- Add page actions if the element is not visible yet. Configure interactions before selecting the target when the page requires them. Hexowatch’s walkthrough lists clicking elements, typing into form fields, waiting for a delay, blocking a visual pop-up or other element, refreshing, and setting cookie values manually. These actions can help reach a target behind navigation, forms, pop-ups, or a protected-page flow; they do not establish that every protected page or login will work.
- Set the monitoring schedule and alerts. Choose how often Hexowatch checks, select your preferred notification channels, and optionally set custom start and end dates. The available channels and frequency limits can depend on current account settings or plan details, so confirm them in the dashboard.
- Start monitoring. Save or start the monitor. Hexowatch says it will notify you when the selected element changes. Its site also describes archiving detected changes as snapshots; the cited material does not establish a specific retention period.
Choose the right monitor for the change you care about
Use the HTML element monitor when one or more specific fields—such as a price or product availability value—are the signal. A narrower target can keep unrelated page changes from becoming the focus. Hexowatch describes other monitoring modes for different signals:

These distinctions follow Hexowatch’s descriptions of its monitoring options and advanced monitoring guide. If the actual question is whether a particular word appears, use keyword monitoring; if the concern is a page-wide redesign, visual monitoring may fit better than tracking one field.
When the target is behind interaction or access controls
First verify that the preview shows the same page state in which the target normally appears. Add a click, form entry, delay, refresh, pop-up block, or manual cookie value as appropriate, then select the target in that state. Hexowatch’s advanced walkthrough demonstrates browser-like actions, including examples involving navigation and password-protected pages, but that is not a blanket compatibility guarantee for every site or authentication scheme.

Hexowatch’s FAQ raises questions about JavaScript-rendered sites such as React, Angular, and Vue, as well as protected pages and pages that do not display correctly. The accessible FAQ text does not provide answers to those questions, so test the exact page rather than assuming universal support. For sites behind Cloudflare or similar access controls, consult Hexowatch’s tutorial index, which includes a tutorial on whitelisting the Hexowatch user agent, or ask the site administrator about permitted monitoring access.
Troubleshooting a monitor that misses or misreads a change
- The target is absent in preview: Add the interaction needed to reveal it—such as navigation, a click, form entry, or cookie value—and allow time for loading before selecting.
- The preview shows a pop-up or overlay instead: Use the available block-element action for the obstructing item, then select the intended field.
- The page renders differently than expected: Check whether the target depends on JavaScript, authentication, or access controls. The available FAQ headings do not confirm universal support or prescribe a universal fix. Try the relevant page actions and consult the user-agent tutorial or site administrator when access is blocked.
- Alerts are too noisy: Reopen the monitor and select a smaller, more specific field if the current selection includes surrounding content. If the desired condition is simply a phrase appearing or disappearing, use a keyword monitor instead.
- No alert arrives: Check that the monitor has been started, that its check schedule and notification settings are configured, and that any optional start date has passed. Verify the selected notification channel in your Hexowatch account.
