Use Chrome DevTools: open the page, turn on the Device Toolbar, then choose More options → Capture a full size screenshot. Chrome saves an image of the whole page, including content below the visible area. No extension or additional software is needed.

Capture the whole page with Chrome DevTools

  1. Open the webpage in desktop Chrome and let it load.
  2. Open DevTools. Use your usual DevTools shortcut, or find Developer Tools in Chrome’s browser menu if you do not know the shortcut.
  3. Enable the Device Toolbar. It opens Chrome’s viewport simulation controls, where you can choose or resize a responsive viewport. Google’s Device Mode documentation describes this toolbar.
  4. Open the Device Toolbar’s More options menu and select Capture a full size screenshot.
  5. Open the downloaded image from Chrome’s download controls or your configured download location, then check that the full page appears as expected. Chrome’s download location can vary by your settings.

Full-size screenshot versus ordinary screenshot

Capture screenshot records only the page area currently visible in the viewport. Capture a full size screenshot captures the whole page, including content outside that viewport. Google’s Device Mode documentation describes the latter as capturing “the whole page including the content that isn’t currently visible in the viewport.”

DevTools also provides other screenshot approaches, such as capturing an element or an area; the available choices and labels may change with Chrome versions. For additional context, see Chrome for Developers’ DevTools screenshot guide, updated 2024-08-09 UTC.

Choose a viewport that suits the page

The Device Toolbar lets you simulate and resize a viewport. Since websites can rearrange content to fit different widths, choose a width that reflects the layout you want to preserve. A mobile-sized viewport may produce a different design from a desktop-width capture. There is no single required width for the full-page command.

Elebase USB to USB C Adapter for iPhone 18 Pro Max,USBC Car Charger Adapter
  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

After capture, inspect the image. The documented feature does not establish that every site’s dynamic content, embedded frames, or lazy-loaded regions will always appear exactly as expected. If something is missing, wait for the page and its content to finish loading and capture again.

If the full-page command is missing

  • Confirm that DevTools is open and the Device Toolbar is enabled; the command is in that toolbar’s More options menu.
  • Check the menu label carefully: Capture screenshot is viewport-only, while Capture a full size screenshot is the full-page option.
  • If the menu differs in your Chrome build, use DevTools’ command menu to search for “screenshot.” This is a troubleshooting suggestion, not a guarantee that every build exposes the same command there.
  • Chrome’s interface labels can change. If the option remains unavailable, consult the current Chrome DevTools documentation for your version.

Optional command-line route: Chrome Headless

If you already work in a command line, Chrome Headless has screenshot and PDF command-line options. This route is more technical than DevTools, and the Headless documentation does not establish that its screenshot flag always behaves exactly like DevTools’ full-page capture. See the Chrome Headless command-line reference, updated 2024-10-21 UTC, for current flags and usage.

If you need a repeatable capture without opening DevTools, ScreenshotNeo offers a website screenshot API. For example, this cURL request saves a capture of stripe.com as a WebP file:

curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp

See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for authentication and request options. ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; those cleanup steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers report the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides screenshot tools for AI agents. The Free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
