Use Playwright’s fullPage: true option to capture the page’s full scrollable height, then inspect the image to confirm how fixed or sticky elements appear. Full-page capture defines the extent of the screenshot; it does not guarantee that a header, floating button, or sticky navigation will look the same in every browser or page. If you need a particular on-screen state, capture that element or viewport separately.
Choose the capture that matches what you need

Capture a full page with Playwright
After navigating to the target page, take a screenshot with fullPage: true. Playwright describes this as capturing the full scrollable page “as if you had a very tall screen and the page could fit it entirely.” That describes the capture extent, not a guarantee about the exact rendering of every fixed or sticky element. Use an element screenshot for a particular control
When the appearance of one region matters more than a single tall image, capture that element directly with Playwright’s locator screenshot capability:

Use a viewport screenshot for a particular scroll position
For a record of what a visitor sees at one scroll position, use a regular screenshot without fullPage: true:

Use Firefox Developer Tools
Firefox Developer Tools documents a full-page screenshot button and a Web Console command, :screenshot --fullpage. For an individual page element, its “Screenshot Node” command captures a selected node instead. As with Playwright, inspect a full-page result rather than assuming how a fixed or sticky item will appear. [Firefox screenshot tools]
Hide an element in a Playwright capture
If a fixed element should not appear in the final composite, Playwright can apply a stylesheet during screenshot capture. For example:

Other style changes, such as changing positioning or display, can affect layout. Check the output against the purpose of the image. Troubleshoot unexpected results
- The fixed item is missing, repeated, or appears in an unexpected place: Inspect the saved image. The full-page option specifies the full scrollable page, but documentation does not guarantee fixed or sticky rendering details for every page. Capture the viewport or element separately if its specific on-screen state is required.
- The element screenshot fails to select the intended region: Check that the locator selector matches the actual element on the page, then capture that element with the locator screenshot method.
- Hiding an element leaves an awkward gap or changes the composition: Review the capture-time CSS rule. Visibility hides an element visually while retaining its layout space; a different CSS change may alter layout. Adjust the rule to suit the image and inspect the new output.
- The full-page result is too tall for the purpose: Use a viewport screenshot for one scroll position, or an element screenshot for a particular region, instead of treating every task as a full-document capture.

Does Playwright guarantee how a fixed header appears in a full-page screenshot?
No. Its documentation defines the full-page capture extent, not identical fixed-element rendering across browsers or page structures. Inspect the image, or capture the relevant viewport or element separately.
