Playwright’s fullPage: true captures the full scrollable document; it does not make the page load content that has not been fetched, rendered, or revealed yet. Before changing screenshot dimensions, check whether the missing content exists in the DOM, whether scrolling triggers it, and whether it is inside a nested scrollable panel. Then wait for the content your application actually needs before taking the screenshot.
Confirm the screenshot call captures the full page
Use page.screenshot() with fullPage: true for a page screenshot. The option is documented as capturing the full scrollable page rather than only the current viewport; its default is false. See the Playwright Page API.

A locator or element screenshot targets a particular element and is not made into a full-document screenshot by setting an unrelated page option. If the screenshot stops at the viewport boundary despite the page continuing below it, first verify the call and capture target.
Wait for the content, not just for the page to look idle
A full-page capture includes what the application has put on the page by capture time. It cannot supply data that has not arrived or trigger conditional rendering on its own. Wait for a locator or application state that represents the content the screenshot must contain, then capture.

For example, use a known final list item or heading as the readiness check. Adapt the text and assertion to the application’s behavior:

Trigger content that loads on scroll
Lazy-loaded images, infinite lists, and other viewport-triggered content may appear only after the page scrolls to them. Trigger the application’s actual behavior—such as scrolling to a lower-page target—then assert that the expected content has appeared before taking the full-page screenshot.

Playwright’s current scrolling guide notes that manual scrolling can force an infinite list to load more elements or position a page for a screenshot. See Actions: Scrolling. Avoid treating a fixed sleep as proof of readiness; it can hide a race without confirming that the content arrived.

Handle content in a nested scroll container
Some interfaces scroll an inner panel independently of the document. A page-level full-page screenshot and a screenshot of that panel are different capture targets. Playwright documents that an element screenshot of a scrollable element shows only its currently scrolled content. Identify which element owns the scroll, move that container to the needed position, and verify the content there. If the goal is to show an entire internal list, the application may require multiple scroll states or another way of presenting the full list.

Separate missing content from visual-test instability
A stable screenshot is not necessarily a complete screenshot: repeated captures can consistently omit content that was never loaded. First establish that the expected content exists and is rendered; then address rendering variability if the image still changes.
For visual tests, Playwright’s toHaveScreenshot() waits for two consecutive page screenshots to match before comparing the result with the expectation. That helps with stability, not with loading absent data. Keep the browser and host environment consistent between baseline and comparison runs because screenshots can vary with operating system, browser version, settings, hardware, power source, and headless mode. If animation causes unwanted visual variation, screenshot options support disabling animations. This reduces motion-related changes; it does not load missing content. The behavior is documented in the ElementHandle API.
