Streamlabs sends one encoded feed to Restream; you manage its destinations in Restream. If the Restream option is not available in Streamlabs, use the RTMP URL and key in the custom server fields.
Before you start
- Install and open Streamlabs Desktop and sign in to Restream.
- Connect the destination accounts you want to use in Restream, and confirm that each platform permits your intended broadcast.
- Keep the Restream stream key private. Anyone with the key may be able to broadcast to your stream.
Create a Restream encoder stream
- In Restream, choose New Stream → Encoder | RTMP. If you already created an RTMP stream, open it instead. Restream’s software guide documents this workflow for encoder software, including Streamlabs.
- Select the destination channels that should receive the broadcast. Set the stream title, description, and thumbnail as needed. Restream also documents per-channel title and description settings.
- Copy the RTMP URL and stream key shown for the stream. Store them securely; do not post or share the key.
Connect Streamlabs Desktop to Restream
- In Streamlabs Desktop, open the gear icon and go to Settings → Stream.
- If available, select the Restream service option. Streamlabs’ documented route uses custom ingest and Streaming Services; Restream’s guide describes Streaming Services → Restream.io. Labels may vary by app version.
- Paste the Restream stream key into the relevant field and, if the form asks for a server or URL, enter the RTMP URL copied from Restream. Save with Done.
- If Restream is not listed, select a custom RTMP destination or custom ingest option, then enter the RTMP URL and stream key. Restream documents RTMP as its general encoder workflow.
Set encoder options and go live
Restream’s Streamlabs connection guide, dated April 3, 2025, recommends these settings. They are that guide’s recommendations, not universal values for every resolution, destination, or encoder setup.

Set other output values, including resolution and bitrate, to meet the requirements of your destination platform and the capabilities of your connection and computer. Restream’s cited recommendation does not specify a single bitrate or resolution for all streams.
- In Streamlabs Desktop, finish configuring your scene, audio, and any other production sources you need.
- Start the broadcast in Streamlabs Desktop.
- In Restream, open View Stream to monitor the incoming feed, selected destination channels, and viewer counts.
Understand which plan controls which feature
Restream and Streamlabs offer separate multistream features. Connecting Streamlabs Desktop to Restream uses Restream as the relay; a Streamlabs plan does not change Restream’s channel limits, and a Restream plan does not unlock Streamlabs-only features.

Restream’s help article dated February 9, 2026 says its free plan includes multistreaming to two channels and use with third-party software such as OBS, with Restream branding. The same article says a paid plan is needed for three or more channels, Facebook Pages, Groups, and custom RTMP destinations. These are the limits stated in that dated article; check Restream’s current account terms before relying on them.
Streamlabs separately describes a free Dual Output option for one horizontal and one vertical destination, while its broader Streamlabs Multistream is an Ultra feature. That is a different workflow from using Restream as the relay; check Streamlabs’ current product terms for availability and limits.

Troubleshoot common connection problems
Restream does not appear in the service list
Use Streamlabs Desktop’s custom RTMP or custom ingest fields instead. Copy both the server URL and stream key from the Restream stream setup; menu names can vary by version.
Restream does not receive a signal
Check that Streamlabs is configured with the stream key for the RTMP stream you opened in Restream, and that the URL is present if Streamlabs requests it. Confirm that you started the broadcast from Streamlabs Desktop.

The feed arrives, but a destination is missing
Return to the Restream stream setup and check that the intended channel is enabled. Also check that the destination account is connected and that its current plan and platform rules permit the broadcast.
The title or description differs by destination
Review the per-channel metadata in Restream’s encoder setup. Restream documents the ability to configure titles and descriptions for individual channels.

You suspect the key has been exposed
Do not share the key in screenshots, public posts, or support messages. Replace or reset it through the applicable Restream stream controls, then update the key in Streamlabs Desktop before broadcasting again.
