Short answer: You can loop an existing YouTube video or playlist for viewers with YouTube’s Loop control. That does not turn the video into a live broadcast. To present prerecorded material as a YouTube live stream, send a video feed to YouTube through an encoder using YouTube’s stream URL and key. Muvi Live has its own RTMP encoder workflow, but its documented instructions do not establish that it sends a looping prerecorded video directly to YouTube.

First, choose the result you want

Your goal Use What it does What it does not do
Repeat a posted video or playlist for a viewer YouTube’s Loop control Repeats playback in the YouTube player Does not create a live broadcast
Present prerecorded material as a YouTube live stream A video source and encoder configured for YouTube Sends a live feed to YouTube using YouTube’s stream URL and key The YouTube encoder guide does not specify a file-loop setting
Broadcast through Muvi Live Muvi Live’s RTMP encoder workflow Sends an encoder feed to Muvi Live and provides Muvi sharing outputs Muvi’s documented instructions do not establish a direct YouTube destination

The destination matters: a YouTube watch page, a YouTube live event, and a Muvi Live player are not interchangeable. Use YouTube’s own ingest credentials when the destination is YouTube; Muvi’s credentials are for its Muvi workflow.

Loop a YouTube video or playlist for viewers

Repeat one video

  1. Open the video’s watch page on YouTube.
  2. Right-click inside the video player.
  3. Select Loop. YouTube says the video will repeat continuously.

Repeat a playlist

  1. Open the playlist.
  2. Activate the playlist’s Loop control.

YouTube also documents Repeat controls on televisions and game consoles. This changes playback for the viewer; it does not schedule or create a live event.

Present prerecorded content as a YouTube live stream

This is an encoder workflow, not the player’s Loop feature. YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format to stream on YouTube. The official encoder instructions explain how to connect an encoder to YouTube, but do not give a particular setting for looping a file. Configure your chosen encoder and video source to repeat as needed, then use YouTube’s ingest details for the destination.

1. Check that the channel can go live

YouTube’s current help guidance requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days; streamers must be at least 16 years old. YouTube says first-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable it ahead of a planned broadcast.

2. Create the live stream and retrieve YouTube credentials

  1. In YouTube Studio, create or schedule a live stream.
  2. Open the stream settings and retrieve the YouTube stream URL and stream key.
  3. Enter those YouTube details in the encoder’s server and key fields.

YouTube treats the stream key like a password for the encoder connection. Keep it private; anyone with access may be able to send a feed to your stream.

3. Configure, test, and start the encoder

  1. Select the prerecorded video as the encoder’s source and set its repeat behavior in that encoder or playback source. The exact controls vary by software; YouTube’s cited guide does not prescribe file-loop steps.
  2. Set the encoder to send to YouTube using YouTube’s stream URL and key, not Muvi’s.
  3. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before relying on the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring the stream.

Do not assume a file loop will restart seamlessly or that a long-running feed will be preserved as a complete archive. Confirm the source and encoder remain active, and arrange a local recording if you need your own copy.

What Muvi Live’s RTMP workflow covers

Muvi documents an encoder-based RTMP setup for a Muvi Live stream. Its steps are distinct from YouTube’s encoder setup:

  1. Create a live stream item in Muvi Live.
  2. Choose Encoder or Streaming Software – RTMP as the source.
  3. Open Stream Info and copy the Muvi stream URL and stream key.
  4. Enter those Muvi credentials in the encoder and start the Muvi stream, then start the encoder.
  5. Share the resulting Muvi stream using its shareable link, HLS URL, or embed code.

These instructions establish a feed to Muvi Live and Muvi sharing options. They do not establish that the same procedure sends a looped prerecorded video to YouTube. For a YouTube live event, use YouTube’s stream URL and key. For an end-to-end Muvi-to-YouTube route, confirm the current capability with Muvi support before relying on it.

Plan for long broadcasts

YouTube’s help pages warn that DVR may be limited or unavailable on streams longer than 12 hours, and streams exceeding 12 hours may not be archived. If rewind or a complete replay matters, do not count on YouTube to provide a full DVR window or archive for a stream beyond that duration. Keep a local archive backup, as YouTube recommends.

Troubleshooting

  • The video repeats, but there is no live event: You enabled the player’s Loop control. Create a live stream in YouTube Studio and send a feed through an encoder instead.
  • YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Check that the encoder uses the YouTube stream URL and key for a YouTube destination. Muvi’s URL and key belong to the Muvi workflow.
  • The live option is unavailable: Check channel verification and live-streaming restrictions, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
  • The scheduled stream has no preview or unhealthy ingest: Confirm that the encoder is running, the selected source is playing, and the server URL and key match the intended platform. Test and monitor in YouTube’s Live Control Room before depending on the stream.
  • The replay or DVR is incomplete: For streams exceeding 12 hours, YouTube says DVR may be limited or unavailable and an archive may not be captured. Make a local recording if completeness is essential.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is an always-on YouTube stream of uploaded prerecorded videos, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. StreamNeo loops uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streaming of uploaded videos, not a camera feed. See StreamNeo or start the free first day.
