First check what XSplit is playing: a local video file and a YouTube webpage are different source types, with different playback controls. XSplit’s documentation does not identify one confirmed fault behind this symptom, so the right fix depends on whether the source itself stops, a webpage fails to render, or only the YouTube broadcast stops showing the video.
Identify which video is stopping
There are three situations that can sound like “XSplit stops looping videos on YouTube,” but they need different troubleshooting:
- A local file in XSplit stops: the source is a video file on your computer, and its playback settings are controlled in XSplit.
- A YouTube page captured in XSplit stops: the source is a Webpage, not a local video file.
- The XSplit preview continues but the YouTube Live broadcast does not: the issue may be in the broadcast output rather than the media source. XSplit treats scene sources and broadcast outputs as distinct parts of setup.
If you mean an ordinary YouTube video playing in a browser outside XSplit, the available XSplit documentation does not establish why its replay would stop looping.
If the source is a local video file
- Open the source properties. In XSplit, right-click the Video source and check its playback controls and linked file. XSplit documents this path for local media sources. See Image, Video, and Audio Source.
- Check the source type and file. Confirm the intended clip is linked to the Video source. XSplit lists MP4, FLV, and WEBM among supported formats; a supported format alone does not establish why a particular file stops.
- Choose a source for the intended playback pattern. For a sequence of clips, try XSplit’s Video Playlist source, which is described as supporting continuous playback. For a presentation mixing videos and images, consider Media Slideshow; XSplit says it can loop multiple images or videos. The available documentation does not guarantee that every file or configuration will loop without interruption.
- Isolate playback problems before changing settings. Note your XSplit version, file format, whether one clip or every clip is affected, and whether the source stops in the preview. If the problem occurs only with one file, compare with another file. If it affects multiple files, inspect XSplit’s processing options as a controlled diagnostic.
XSplit documents video-processing choices and a legacy Media Foundation engine for supported local formats including MP4, WMV, AVI, and ASF. These are troubleshooting options, not a confirmed fix for this symptom. Change one relevant setting at a time and check whether playback changes. Details are in XSplit’s Settings documentation.

If XSplit is capturing a YouTube webpage
- Confirm that the source is Webpage. XSplit lists Webpage and Video File as separate source categories, so local media playback controls do not govern a webpage source. See Sources Menu – Introduction.
- Compare with a local-file source when appropriate. If you have a permitted local copy of the clip, test it as a Video source. This can help distinguish webpage rendering behavior from local media playback; it is a diagnostic comparison, not a fix XSplit or YouTube guarantees.
- Test Browser Source Special Optimization. If it is enabled, try disabling it and compare. XSplit warns that this optimization may not work perfectly on some systems and can result in a black or empty webpage. That warning does not identify it as the cause of a video that stops looping.
Do not assume a YouTube policy or browser restriction is responsible: the cited official sources do not establish either as the cause of this particular symptom.
If only the YouTube Live output stops
Watch the XSplit preview while checking the broadcast. If the source keeps playing in XSplit but the video stops appearing on YouTube, investigate the output separately from the source. XSplit’s source documentation treats media sources as scene elements, while its YouTube Live encoder guide covers broadcast configuration. Neither cited source identifies a specific output fault behind this report.

If the source itself stops in the preview, return to the local-file or webpage steps above. If it plays in the preview but the broadcast does not, record what you see in each place and troubleshoot the broadcast configuration independently rather than changing media playback settings at random.

- Whether the source is a local file or a Webpage.
- Your XSplit version and Windows version.
- The file format, if the source is local.
- Whether one clip or all clips stop, and whether it happens in the preview, the YouTube broadcast, or both.
- Any source-processing or Browser Source Special Optimization setting you changed, and the result of that change.
The documented troubleshooting path is software configuration. The available sources do not establish that you need a capture card, stream deck, webcam, new drive, or repair tool.
