To start a 24/7 jazz lofi radio stream on YouTube, first enable live streaming on your channel, clear the rights to every track and visual, prepare a continuous audiovisual program, then send it to YouTube through an encoder. Test it as an unlisted stream before making it public, and monitor Live Control Room for connection or copyright interruptions. You can run the encoder on your own computer or use a cloud service such as StreamNeo to keep an uploaded program playing without leaving a computer on at home.
1. Make sure your channel can livestream
Verify your YouTube channel and enable live streaming before you plan to launch. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do this early. YouTube’s current guidance also requires that the streamer meet the minimum age of 16 and that the channel have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. Check YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility guidance for the current requirements.
Starting a livestream and qualifying for monetization are separate questions. Do not assume you need a particular subscriber count just to start streaming; the eligibility details above are the relevant launch checks.

2. Clear the music and visuals before building the stream
Get permission for the actual use of every song, sample, and visual element before putting it in a continuous broadcast. A track being downloadable, credited, or labeled “no copyright” does not by itself establish permission to livestream it on YouTube. Confirm that the rights cover continuous streaming and looping, the territories where you expect viewers, and recording or monetization if you plan to use those features.

- Music: Use work you created and control, commissioned material covered by a written agreement, or a license that explicitly permits the intended broadcast. Check that samples and other contributions are covered too.
- Visuals: Apply the same checks to artwork, animations, fonts, and any other material in the loop.
- Records: Keep licenses, agreements, and correspondence somewhere accessible in case a rights holder or YouTube asks about the content.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. Even licensed music can be interrupted if the channel is not allowlisted by the relevant rights holder. Ask the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist before launch. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams and YouTube for Artists’ livestream guidance. YouTube for Artists recommends coordinating with a label or distributor when using copyright-protected music; that advice does not replace a track-specific license.
No particular music catalog, jazz standard, track, or visual license has been established here as suitable for this station. Check the current terms for the exact material you plan to use.

3. Prepare a program that can run continuously
Choose either one long mixed audiovisual file or a playlist of shorter files. Both can supply the continuous program; your choice mainly affects preparation and how easily you can make changes.

Give the station a recognizable jazz lofi identity through its music selection, title, and visual scene. Treat the stream as a complete program rather than a folder of unrelated tracks: inspect the start, end, and transitions, and verify that the visual does not expose material you lack permission to use.

StreamNeo’s guide discusses both program formats and suggests consistent settings for playlist files. Those are vendor production recommendations, not current official YouTube encoding requirements; check YouTube’s latest encoder guidance when preparing your output.
4. Choose how the stream will keep running
YouTube accepts streams sent by an encoder, which may be software or standalone hardware. A local software setup gives you direct production control, but the computer, power, network connection, and encoder need to keep operating. A hardware encoder is another option, but confirm that any device you consider is currently compatible with YouTube; no specific model is verified here.

A hosted continuous-streaming service is an alternative if you do not want a computer at home to run the broadcast. Check a provider’s current terms, pricing, rights workflow, and reliability information before depending on it. No encoder or streaming service has been independently tested for this article.

- Open YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room. Create a livestream or schedule one for the time you intend to launch. YouTube’s encoder setup instructions cover this workflow.
- Copy the stream details. In the broadcast setup, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it could send a feed to your broadcast.
- Start the outgoing feed from the encoder. Wait for the incoming stream and preview to appear in Live Control Room before making the broadcast public.
- Run an unlisted test. YouTube for Artists recommends testing before a public stream. Check that audio plays continuously, artwork and video look right, transitions work, and the connection remains stable. Use the preview to catch problems before launch.
- Set the intended visibility and launch. Once the test is clean, use the planned public broadcast or schedule and confirm it is live in Studio.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Plan for how you will handle archives and stream length; the guidance cited here does not establish that one broadcast can be archived indefinitely as a single video.
6. Monitor the broadcast and respond to interruptions
Keep Live Control Room available so you can see whether the feed is arriving and whether YouTube reports a problem. If the livestream stops, check YouTube Studio for strikes and other notices. For a match on licensed material, contact the rights holder, confirm the license covers the use, and request Content ID allowlisting. Keep the relevant paperwork available when you follow up.
What a 24/7 station can—and cannot—promise
YouTube for Artists reported that over 30% of daily logged-in YouTube viewers watched live content in Q2 2025. That is platform-wide context, not an estimate of demand for jazz lofi or a forecast for a new channel. A successful launch still depends on valid rights, a continuous feed, and a setup that remains operational.
