Before comparing services, decide what you want to multiply:
- Separate streams: two or more different broadcasts or playlists running at the same time. They may use different content and, depending on the service, connect to different YouTube channels.
- Multiple destinations: one broadcast distributed to several destinations, such as different platforms or accounts. The destinations receive the same program rather than independent playlists.
- Multiple channel connections: connecting more than one YouTube channel to a service. This alone does not show that the service can run separate continuous streams for those channels.
YouTube describes simulstreaming as carrying the same content across platforms, and separately documents limits for multiple live streams on YouTube. YouTube’s explanation of streaming across platforms and its live-streaming limits are useful distinctions to keep in mind.

How YouTube’s stream limits apply
YouTube Help currently states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key; both limits apply at the same time. These are YouTube platform limits, not a promise that any particular vendor plan includes that many streams. Upstream’s help page also describes up to 10 streams on one YouTube channel, but check its current service limits and YouTube’s current rules before configuring a larger setup.
Do not confuse those figures with simultaneous destinations. YouTube’s guidance on simulstreaming describes sending one high-quality feed to a cloud service, which can distribute it to selected channels, resolutions, or platforms. Choose by the workflow, not by the word “profile”
For separate playlists that should stay live around the clock

For multiple YouTube channels
Confirm both that a service can connect each channel and that it can run the required independent stream on each one. Check YouTube channel permissions and live-stream eligibility as well as vendor connection requirements. Connecting two channels is not the same as running two independent broadcasts.

- Channel eligibility: YouTube says channels must be verified and have live streaming enabled for simulstreaming; platform accounts must be in good standing. Check the channel’s permissions and connection requirements before setup. YouTube’s simulstreaming guidance covers these conditions.
- Policy compliance: A cloud playout or multistream service does not bypass YouTube’s Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, or restrictions on livestreaming. Make sure you have rights to the material and that the channel is eligible to broadcast. YouTube describes applicable restrictions in its live-streaming help.
- Content inputs: Establish whether the service accepts uploaded prerecorded files, live inputs, or both, and whether it can schedule starts and changes. Castr describes scheduled uploaded videos, recordings, and live streams in a continuous channel; Upstream describes playlist-based 24/7 playout.
- Local encoding: For a computer-based encoder, YouTube advises having sufficient upload bandwidth and monitoring stream health. - Limits and pricing: Confirm current vendor plan caps for slots, connected channels, or destinations before paying. Platform limits, plan details, and feature availability can change.
Common selection mistakes
- Counting destinations as separate profiles: A multistream destination is another endpoint for the same program; it is not necessarily an independent playlist or broadcast.
- Assuming “24/7” means prerecorded playout: A service that sends live video to several destinations is not automatically a cloud playlist playout service. Look for explicit support for continuous prerecorded media.
- Assuming a connected channel has its own stream slot: Verify the number of independent streams and whether each can map to a different channel.
- Assuming platform limits are vendor entitlements: YouTube’s active-stream limits and a provider’s plan limits are separate constraints. Your setup must satisfy both.
