Restream documents receiving an RTMP feed from an encoder such as OBS and forwarding it to YouTube. By contrast, services such as Gyre and StreamNeo describe a cloud workflow in which you upload prerecorded video and the service sends an RTMP stream to YouTube. That does not establish that they accept an incoming RTMP feed from your encoder.
What “RTMP input” means
RTMP is used to carry a live video signal between systems, but the direction matters. When you ask whether a 24/7 service supports RTMP input, the practical question is whether it accepts a live feed from your encoder—not merely whether it uses RTMP to send video onward to YouTube.
- Incoming RTMP contribution: OBS or another encoder sends a live feed to a service, which relays it to YouTube. Restream documents this type of workflow.
- RTMP output from a cloud video loop: You upload prerecorded video; a cloud service loops it and sends a live broadcast to YouTube. Gyre and StreamNeo describe this model. Their documented YouTube delivery does not prove they accept your external RTMP feed as input.
- YouTube event connected to a studio: A studio may use an event’s RTMP details to send a broadcast to YouTube. That is not necessarily an unattended 24/7 loop.
Which services document the workflow you need?
| Service or workflow | What its documentation establishes | What not to assume |
|---|---|---|
| StreamNeo | StreamNeo’s materials describe uploading a video file, adding YouTube’s RTMP address and persistent stream key, and running a cloud loop. It is YouTube-only. StreamNeo | The reviewed materials do not establish incoming RTMP contribution from OBS or another external encoder. |
| Restream Encoder | RTMP | Restream documents an encoder-ingest workflow and says it supports RTMP and SRT for streaming. It lists OBS, Streamlabs, vMix, ATEM, and SlingStudio as compatible examples. Its YouTube instructions document YouTube as a destination. | This establishes protocol support, not that unattended 24/7 operation is available or suitable on every plan. |
| Gyre | Gyre describes looping prerecorded video from its cloud to YouTube using a standard RTMP signal. | This describes outgoing delivery from Gyre, not incoming RTMP from your encoder. |
| StreamYard connected to YouTube | On paid plans, StreamYard documents connecting an existing YouTube stream using that event’s RTMP details. The workflow requires entering the studio and pressing Go Live; its documentation says YouTube comments do not appear in the studio. | This is not documentation of an unattended 24/7 loop. |
| StreamYard custom RTMP destination | StreamYard describes sending a StreamYard broadcast to a platform that accepts RTMP. | This is outbound from StreamYard, not evidence that it ingests your encoder’s RTMP feed. |
Restream’s help page says, “We only support the RTMP and SRT protocols for streaming.” Gyre’s own guide describes prerecorded-video streaming to YouTube and platforms that accept standard RTMP. Those are provider descriptions of their workflows, not independent tests of reliability or quality.
How to decide whether a service accepts your encoder feed
Before subscribing or configuring OBS, confirm the service explicitly documents incoming RTMP or RTMPS contribution. A stream URL and key alone are not enough to identify the direction: they might be credentials for sending video to YouTube rather than credentials for sending video to the service.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Does it accept RTMP or RTMPS from an external encoder, and where do you obtain the ingest URL and key?
- Can the incoming feed run unattended, and what reconnect or failure-recovery behavior is documented?
- How many simultaneous destinations or streams are allowed, and which plan restrictions apply?
- Who controls YouTube event details and metadata: the service or YouTube Studio?
- How are stream keys stored and protected, and can you replace one if it is exposed?
For a prerecorded-video loop instead, check accepted file formats, upload and storage limits, scheduling and restart behavior, simultaneous-stream limits, output resolution and frame rate, plan restrictions, YouTube event setup, and archive expectations. Available documentation does not establish a verified cross-provider uptime or quality comparison, so do not treat an RTMP checkbox as proof of 24/7 reliability.
Connecting an encoder to YouTube directly
If you want OBS or another encoder to send a live contribution directly to YouTube, YouTube’s encoder instructions provide the basic setup. In YouTube Studio, get the stream URL and stream key for the stream, then enter them in your encoder’s streaming settings. When the encoder offers a YouTube integration, select YouTube and follow its prompts; otherwise, use the manual server and key fields.

- Enable live streaming. YouTube’s help page says first-time live streaming requires phone verification and a 24-hour wait for access.
- Get the YouTube stream details. In YouTube Studio, open the live control room or the relevant stream setup and copy the stream URL and stream key. Use the details for the correct event.
- Configure the encoder. Select YouTube if available. Otherwise paste YouTube’s stream URL into the encoder’s Server setting and the stream key into its Stream Key setting.
- Protect the key. Treat it like a password: anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to the channel. Do not publish it or share it in screenshots. Replace it in YouTube Studio if it is exposed.
- Start the encoder and check YouTube Studio. Confirm the preview and stream status before making the event public or starting the broadcast, following the encoder and YouTube workflow you selected.
For a relay service, configure the encoder with that service’s incoming ingest URL and key instead, then connect the relay to YouTube as directed by the provider. Do not paste YouTube’s output credentials into an encoder when the service expects its own ingest credentials. Network requirements vary; one Restream help page refers to port 1935 for software or hardware RTMP/RTMPS streaming, but firewall needs should be confirmed for the specific service and setup.
What a 24/7 YouTube broadcast means for archives
YouTube says it does not impose a stream-duration limit, but automatically archives only streams under 12 hours. A broadcast that runs continuously for 24 hours or longer should therefore not be assumed to produce one complete archived video. If you need a full recording, keep a separate local or cloud recording plan and verify the service’s recording behavior rather than relying on the YouTube archive.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous loop of prerecorded video rather than a live OBS contribution feed, StreamNeo takes a different approach: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It loops the uploaded video from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams what you upload at its original quality up to 4K 60fps, with one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding. If YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers it. The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. You can review its workflow and plans at StreamNeo pricing. To try it, start with StreamNeo’s free day.
Common setup problems
- The service says “RTMP supported,” but OBS cannot connect: Check whether the documentation describes incoming encoder ingest or outgoing RTMP delivery to YouTube. Confirm that you used the service’s ingest URL and key when sending to a relay.
- YouTube does not receive the encoder feed: Recheck the stream URL and key, confirm they belong to the intended event, and verify that live streaming is enabled on the channel.
- The encoder connects but the event does not go live: Check the event’s status and the encoder/service’s required start action. Connecting a studio or encoder is not necessarily the same as pressing Go Live.
- A long broadcast has no complete archive: YouTube’s automatic archive applies only to streams under 12 hours. Use a separate recording method if you need a complete copy.
- The stream stops when a home computer shuts down: A locally running encoder depends on that computer and its connection. For a prerecorded loop, a cloud service can keep the playback running without the home computer.
Copyright and reused content still matter
Using a 24/7 service does not grant rights to the video, music, or other material in the stream. Use material you own or are licensed to broadcast, and check YouTube’s rules for the content and monetization you intend to use. Repeating prerecorded material does not by itself guarantee eligibility for monetization; make sure the channel and content meet YouTube’s current policies. Keep permission records for third-party material, and review YouTube Studio notifications if a stream is blocked, claimed, or otherwise restricted.
