There is no single proven fix for audio crackling in a 24/7 rain stream. First compare the rain source, encoder monitoring, a local recording, and YouTube playback to find where the sound changes. Then check source routing and levels, compare audio settings with YouTube’s published guidance, and use Live Control Room messages to investigate any reported configuration issue. The available evidence does not identify a cause specific to India or to your stream.
Find where the crackling starts
Listen to the original rain file or feed outside the livestream. Next, monitor the encoder output and, if possible, make a local recording. Compare both with playback from the live YouTube page. This is a diagnostic method, not evidence that YouTube necessarily changes the audio.
- The source already crackles: Check the file or feed and the device or player used to monitor it.
- The source is clean, but encoder monitoring or the local recording crackles: Focus on the signal path, source routing, levels, and encoding configuration.
- The local recording is clean, but YouTube playback crackles: Check Live Control Room stream health and messages, and compare playback under another listening condition before changing physical equipment.
Check the source, routing, and levels
Confirm that the intended rain audio is reaching the stream. Look for an accidentally duplicated source or an unintended capture device, and check that levels are not being driven into audible distortion. These are practical checks, not a diagnosis of your particular setup; no device, operating system, encoder, log, or sample recording is available to identify the fault.
Compare audio settings with YouTube’s guidance
YouTube’s live encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, and recommends constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. It specifies 44.1 kHz for stereo audio and 48 kHz for 5.1 surround sound—not 48 kHz as its stated stereo recommendation. It lists 128 Kbps for stereo and 384 Kbps for 5.1. Choose settings for the channel format you actually intend to send. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.

The same YouTube page recommends a 2-second video keyframe interval and says not to exceed 4 seconds. That is video-stream guidance, not a direct remedy for audio crackling.
Read the stream health message before changing settings
Live Control Room health information can report audio configuration problems including bitrate too high or low, an unsupported codec, sample rate, a sample-rate mismatch between primary and backup, stereo mismatch, too many audio channels, multiple audio streams, or no audio stream. Use the message shown for your stream to choose what to investigate; avoid changing several unrelated settings at once. The YouTube Live API health reference was last updated 2026-09-14 UTC.

Distinguish audio artifacts from network trouble
Crackling and dropped frames are different symptoms. OBS says dropped frames mean the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot keep up with the configured bitrate. That can interrupt a broadcast, but it does not establish the cause of crackling.

Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If you also see dropped frames or disconnections, OBS recommends lowering video bitrate relative to stable upload speed, testing a different server or service, and using a wired connection. Its troubleshooting guide also lists VPN or security software interference, outdated network drivers, router or modem problems, and faulty hardware such as a network cable as possible network-path issues. These steps address connection problems, not audio crackling directly. Read OBS’s connection troubleshooting guide (dated 2024-09-30).

- TWO JACKS, TWO JOBS - The green jack is stereo OUT for headphones or powered speakers; the pink jack is mono microphone IN for a 3.5mm mic. It does NOT support 4-pole headsets on a single combo plug, it does NOT power passive speakers, and it does NOT add surround sound - it is a stereo 2-channel adapter.
- FOR LAPTOPS AND DESKTOPS THAT NEED AN AUDIO PORT BACK - Adds a headphone and mic port to a laptop, desktop, or mini PC whose onboard jack has failed or was never there. Managed and work-issued computers can block new USB audio devices by policy - check with your IT department before ordering for a company machine.
- SABRENT SUPPORT AND WARRANTY - What is in the box: one USB audio sound adapter. Backed by a 1-year limited warranty, extended to 2 years when you register within 90 days on the manufacturer's website.
Test changes before restoring the 24/7 schedule
- Recreate the real stream conditions. Use the same rain source and relevant runtime setup you expect to use continuously.
- Make one change at a time. For example, adjust a setting only when it relates to a health warning or a point in the signal path where you hear the crackle.
- Record and compare. Keep a local recording and note whether the source, encoder monitoring, recording, or YouTube playback changed after each adjustment.
- Monitor a representative test. YouTube advises testing before going live with audio and video movement similar to the intended broadcast, then monitoring stream health and messages.
- Resume the schedule and check again. A successful short test does not guarantee a failure-free continuous broadcast.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is to keep uploaded rain videos looping on YouTube without leaving a computer on, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Your home computer and connection do not have to stay on; the service automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot streams the uploaded file as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot rather than quality tiers. The first day is free with no card required. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. For Indian creators, UPI is supported. This changes where the stream runs; it does not diagnose or repair crackling already present in the source recording. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
