Hindustan Times reported that flydubai Flight FZ1073 made an emergency descent on September 30, 2026, after a fight between its pilots escalated. The report said the aircraft dropped from about 33,000 feet to 17,000 feet in roughly a minute, and that the sequence was under investigation. That account is not a final finding about the cause. Four earlier incidents reported by the newspaper show different cockpit hazards—from alleged conflict between pilots to a jammed door and a disputed account involving an autopilot control.
What was reported about flydubai Flight FZ1073?
According to Hindustan Times, Flight FZ1073 was travelling from Dubai to Tel Aviv with 174 passengers on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, when a fight between the two pilots escalated into an emergency. The newspaper described the aircraft descending from about 33,000 feet to 17,000 feet in roughly a minute.
The article said the incident was under investigation. It did not establish an official cause, so the reported link between the pilots’ fight and the emergency should be understood as the newspaper’s account at the time, not a confirmed final investigation finding.

Four earlier cockpit incidents, and what each account establishes
These cases involve distinct risks and different kinds of evidence. Some details came from airline statements; others were allegations attributed to reporting sources. None of the four examples is described here as a crash.

SpiceJet: food and drink on the flight deck
The 2023 report described a photograph of coffee and a gujiya on the flight-deck console. It said the two pilots were taken off duty. An unnamed SpiceJet spokesperson said: “SpiceJet has a strict policy for consumption of food inside the cockpit, which is adhered to by all flight crew. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken upon completion of the investigation.”
The report also said aviation experts criticized the incident because a spill could reach critical electronics. The experts were not identified in the supplied account, and it does not establish that any equipment was damaged.
Jet Airways: an alleged mid-flight altercation
In the 2018 account, two pilots were grounded after an alleged altercation during a London–Mumbai flight. The argument was said to have become violent, with the female pilot reportedly leaving the cockpit crying and the male pilot following. Hindustan Times attributed the account to its earlier reporting and an airline source cited by PTI. Those attributions matter: the described altercation is an allegation, not a finding supported here by a primary investigation report.

Flight AI 403 was reportedly diverted in 2013 after its commander could not get back into the cockpit following a toilet break. Air India’s statement said: “The commander of the flight had left the cockpit for a short while to visit the toilet, and on returning to the cockpit found the door locked. The door had jammed, and all efforts to open the door, even from inside by the co-pilot, failed.” The co-pilot reportedly asked ground control for permission to divert to Bhopal.

Air India: disputed claims about cockpit attendance
A separate 2013 account concerned a Bangkok–Delhi flight carrying 166 passengers. Allegations said pilots left the cockpit while the aircraft was on autopilot and cabin attendants were present. Air India denied that the pilots had left. It did acknowledge that flight attendants had been in the cockpit for a prolonged period and said distraction led the co-pilot to momentarily touch the autopilot disconnect button. The airline said all four crew members were suspended.

The differences in attribution are important: an allegation, an airline’s acknowledgment, and a reported door failure are not interchangeable evidence. Together, the cases illustrate several kinds of cockpit hazard, but they do not establish that any of the four incidents caused a crash.
