BlackDoctor announced its first Medical Advisory Board on October 1, 2026. The eight-physician board is intended to advise on clinical strategy, product and content development, medical review, health education, and healthcare partnerships; the announcement describes plans, not results.
Who is on BlackDoctor’s Medical Advisory Board?
BlackDoctor’s announcement names eight physicians and their specialties:
- Dr. Craig Emmitt Cole — oncology and hematology
- Dr. Chikelue Oragwu — medical affairs
- Dr. Nicole Christian-Brathwaite — psychiatry
- Dr. Yele Aluko — cardiology and physician executive
- Dr. Kristen Harris Nwanyanwu — ophthalmology
- Dr. Adam Friedman — dermatology
- Dr. Beatrice Williams — orthodontics
- Dr. Keisha L. Gibson — pediatric nephrology

What will the board do?
BlackDoctor says board members will contribute to clinical and business decisions across its health-focused services. Its stated responsibilities include:

- Advising on clinical strategy, products, tools, and content strategy.
- Conducting medical review of BlackDoctor content and contributing health education and commentary for BlackDoctor.com and BlackDoctor.pro.
- Helping shape products and tools, including WellBot and Health on Point, as described in board member Dr. Cole’s remarks.
- Representing the brand at industry events and helping build relationships with pharmaceutical companies, academic medical institutions, medical schools, medical societies, foundations, and health nonprofits.
These are roles BlackDoctor says it expects the board to take on. The October 1 announcement does not report completed board work or demonstrate resulting clinical effectiveness or improved health outcomes.
Why did BlackDoctor create the board?
BlackDoctor presented the board as part of a strategic rebrand and its return to the health-services industry. CEO Akinwole Garrett said, “Our Medical Advisory Board reflects who we are as a company — built by and for the community we serve, with real clinicians in the room.”
Dr. Cole described his participation as an opportunity to help shape the company’s work, saying of its AI efforts, “We’re not just adding another AI product to the market — we’re building something that actually understands who it’s talking to.” That is his characterization, not independent evidence of product performance.
What scale does BlackDoctor report?
In the announcement, BlackDoctor said it reaches more than 30 million people each year and has more than 30,000 practitioners in its healthcare professional database. These are company-reported figures; the release does not present them as independently audited audience or database counts.
