Embark says accounts caught using known cheat programs in ARC Raiders will now receive permanent bans, with no warnings or second chances. Its September 30, 2026 update also describes restrictions on game licenses and, when evidence is sufficient, the machines used for cheating. The studio says it reviews behavior over multiple instances before issuing permanent bans; it has not confirmed that its Elytra anti-cheat system is live in ARC Raiders.
What Embark’s new ban policy says
In an official update dated September 30, 2026, Embark said it had previously been overly cautious about permanently banning first-time cheaters. The studio now describes permanent bans as its standard for known cheat programs.
“Permanent bans are now standard for all known cheat programs and, as a matter of policy, any account caught using cheats is permanently banned. No warnings, no second chances.”
That is Embark’s stated policy, attributed to Aleks in its anti-cheat update. The update also says the studio has improved its ability to identify and sanction accounts involved in cheat software use and economy exploits. It does not provide a count of bans or a measured cheating rate.

Which sanctions can apply?
Embark describes enforcement at three levels: the account, the game license, and the machine. The studio’s announcement gives a general description of these measures, not a complete set of scenarios or technical details.
| Enforcement | What Embark says it does | What the update establishes |
|---|---|---|
| Account ban | Permanently bans an account caught using cheats. | Embark says this is its policy for known cheat programs; “no warnings, no second chances.” |
| License restriction | Prevents a specific game copy associated with a sanction from being used with another account. | Embark says an account ever associated with a banned copy will also receive a permanent ban. It does not detail every situation that counts as an association. |
| Hardware ban | Can prevent the game from running on a machine when there is enough evidence that it was used for cheating. | Embark says it lowered the threshold for these bans and is working to cover more systems. The broader coverage is future-facing, with no calendar date specified. |
License restrictions reach beyond one account
Embark says the license restriction prevents a sanctioned copy from being used through another account. It also says an account that has ever been associated with a banned copy will receive a permanent ban. The update does not explain what associations qualify in every circumstance, so it should not be read as a detailed rule about household, account-sharing, or other cases it does not discuss.

Hardware bans depend on evidence
Embark says: “When we have enough evidence that a single machine is being used for cheating, we can prevent the game from running on that system.” The studio says it recently lowered the threshold for applying hardware bans and is working on a solution to target more systems. It hopes to implement that broader approach “later in the year,” but does not give a specific date.
Why a ban may not happen immediately
Embark says its anti-cheat systems do not ban a player as soon as one signal looks suspicious. Instead, it analyzes behavior over multiple instances to build what the studio describes as a high degree of certainty before issuing a permanent ban.

Is Elytra already being used in ARC Raiders?
Embark has not confirmed Elytra as a deployed feature in ARC Raiders. The studio says Elytra is being tested on a small scale in THE FINALS, with early results it describes as promising, and that it is working toward being able to test the system in ARC Raiders. It has not announced an implementation date for this game.

What Embark’s announcement does not quantify
The update does not report how many players have been banned, how prevalent cheating is in ARC Raiders, or how effective the measures have been. Its broader description of cheating as a “multi-billion dollar industry” is not accompanied by a source, year-specific estimate, or figure for this game, so it should not be treated as a statistic about ARC Raiders.
GamesRadar+ reported the announcement under a headline describing cheaters as continuing to plague the extraction shooter, but that framing is not a measured prevalence finding. For the policy itself, Embark’s September 30, 2026 update is the primary source; the contemporary GamesRadar+ report supplies additional news context.
