No. Hopper Disassembler does not currently have a native Windows release: its FAQ says the Windows port is “currently in standby,” and its download page offers macOS and Linux packages, not a Windows installer. You can still use Hopper to analyze Windows executable files, but you must run it on a supported macOS or Linux host.

Is there a Hopper version for Windows 10 or 11?

No native Hopper build for Windows 10, Windows 11, or another Windows edition is listed by the vendor. Hopper’s official FAQ says the Windows port is “currently in standby.” It explains that the project’s Windows work was deferred after Hopper 3 adopted Apple technologies such as ARC; at the time described, the FAQ said the required GNUStep ARC support depended on libobjc2, which had not been ported to Windows. The developer also cited the scale of that work relative to expected revenue for a one-developer project.

The official download page lists macOS and Linux packages, not a Windows download. That means there is no vendor-provided Windows installer to download, regardless of whether your PC runs Windows 10 or 11.

Can Hopper open a Windows EXE?

Yes. Hopper’s FAQ lists PE32, PE32+, and PE64 among the formats it can read. Those are Windows executable formats; this capability concerns the file Hopper analyzes, not the operating system on which Hopper runs. Transfer the PE file to a Mac or Linux system running Hopper to inspect it.

Hopper is a static-analysis tool for examining existing executable files. Its tutorial describes views and tools including assembly, symbols, strings, an inspector, control-flow views, pseudocode, annotations, and an embedded assembler. Decompilation can make parts of a binary easier to understand, but it does not reconstruct all of the original source code; Hopper’s FAQ notes that no decompiler can fully recover source that has been lost.

Which operating systems does Hopper officially support?

Host platform Official status and requirements
macOS Native macOS application; the product page lists macOS 12.4 or later.
Linux The download page lists tested 64-bit builds for Ubuntu 24.04, Fedora 41, and Arch Linux. Other distributions are not officially supported.
Windows No native package is listed; the FAQ says the Windows port is on standby.

See Hopper’s product page for its macOS requirements and the download page for the listed Linux builds and current downloads.

How can you use Hopper from a Windows PC?

Run Hopper on a supported Mac or Linux machine

Install Hopper on a macOS or Linux host that meets the vendor’s current requirements, then transfer the Windows PE file there for analysis. A Windows PC can be part of the workflow for preparing or moving files, but Hopper itself runs on the other host.

Choose another tool for a Windows-only local workflow

If you need a reverse-engineering application installed and run locally in a Windows GUI, choose a product whose current Windows support is documented by its vendor. Compare format and CPU support, static-analysis and decompiler features, debugger support, licensing, scripting or API options, and update cadence before switching. Hopper’s platform information does not establish how any particular alternative compares.

Do not assume a compatibility-layer setup is supported

Hopper’s official sources do not document a supported Wine setup, Windows virtual-machine recipe, or remote-access configuration. Those approaches are therefore unverified rather than vendor-supported ways to run Hopper on Windows.

What does the Hopper demo allow?

According to Hopper’s download page, the demo provides access to the interface and analysis features, but each session is limited to 30 minutes. The demo also disables the debugger backend and prevents saving or exporting disassembly or modified binaries. Check the download page for current licensing and system requirements before choosing a host.
