G.SKILL’s Trident Z5 CK is a high-end DDR5 CUDIMM memory family, and its headline launch kit is rated at DDR5-9600. That speed is an Intel XMP 3.0 overclocking profile—not a guaranteed stock setting—and the kit is aimed at Intel Core Ultra 200 K-series processors with compatible Z890 motherboards and BIOS support.
What is Trident Z5 CK DDR5-9600?
Announced on October 24, 2024, Trident Z5 CK and Trident Z5 CK RGB are G.SKILL memory series built on the CU-DIMM standard. A CUDIMM adds an integrated clock driver (CKD) to the memory module. G.SKILL says the CKD is intended to strengthen signals between the CPU and memory chips, helping stability at high transfer rates. The standard and the CKD do not, by themselves, ensure that every CPU and motherboard can run a kit at its advertised profile.
The launch configuration drawing attention is a 48GB kit made up of two 24GB modules. G.SKILL rated it for DDR5-9600 through Intel XMP 3.0. Tom’s Hardware’s specification table lists the kit at CL46, timings of 46-58-58-153, and 1.45V. [G.SKILL’s announcement; Tom’s Hardware’s specifications]

Can Arrow Lake run DDR5-9600?
It may, with the right CPU, motherboard, BIOS, and memory profile, but DDR5-9600 is not the same as a stock platform speed. Tom’s Hardware reported stock support of up to DDR5-6400 for Arrow Lake CUDIMMs, compared with DDR5-5600 for standard DIMMs. The kit’s DDR5-9600 rating relies on enabling its XMP 3.0 profile, which is a memory overclock. G.SKILL cautions that maximum speed depends on the motherboard, processor, and BIOS.
#1 Best Overall
- Requires overclocking/BIOS adjustments. Maximum speed and performance depends on system components, including motherboard and CPU.
- G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series DDR5 U-DIMM Memory Kit, Model: F5-6000J3636F16GA2-TZ5RK
- Non-ECC, DDR5 U-DIMM, 288-pin, for Desktop PC & Gaming
- Includes JEDEC default profile, and Intel XMP 3.0 & AMD EXPO memory overclock profile
- Do not mix memory kits. Memory kits are sold in matched kits that are designed to run together as a set. Mixing memory kits will result in stability issues or system failure.
Before buying, check the motherboard maker’s memory QVL for the exact kit and confirm that the board’s BIOS supports CUDIMMs and the intended XMP profile. A board’s Z890 chipset and an XMP option alone do not promise DDR5-9600 stability; the processor’s memory controller and system configuration also matter. If the system does not train or remain stable at the rated profile, use a lower memory speed or the board’s fallback settings. [Tom’s Hardware’s report; G.SKILL’s compatibility caveat]
Do you need a Z890 motherboard?
G.SKILL positioned this launch kit for Intel Core Ultra 200 K-series desktop processors and Z890-class motherboards. In practical terms, plan on a compatible Arrow Lake-era Intel board with CUDIMM and XMP support, and verify the exact model’s QVL and BIOS notes. The launch material does not establish that every Z890 board supports this specific kit at DDR5-9600, nor does it guarantee operation at that speed on other platforms.

Does Trident Z5 CK work with AMD Ryzen?
The launch kit was positioned for Intel systems and was reported not to support AMD EXPO. That makes it a poor fit for a Ryzen build if you want a straightforward, vendor-provided memory profile: AMD EXPO support was not reported for this kit at launch. Check the current kit specification and motherboard compatibility information before considering it for any non-Intel system. [Tom’s Hardware]

G.SKILL reported reaching DDR5-10000 in dual-channel mode with air cooling after additional BIOS, voltage, and timing tuning. That figure describes an overclocking demonstration, not the kit’s retail XMP rating or a setting every owner should expect to achieve. [G.SKILL’s announcement]

Does DDR5-9600 mean faster apps or games?
A higher memory transfer rate does not translate automatically into a proportional improvement in application performance. The cited launch and coverage establish the kit’s specification and platform positioning, but do not provide a controlled performance comparison for this exact retail kit. Treat DDR5-9600 as a demanding enthusiast memory profile, not a guaranteed FPS or productivity upgrade.
