To download a copy of your Reddit account data, submit Reddit’s data request form while signed in to the account you want to back up. Reddit says preparing the archive may take up to 30 days. Its help pages confirm you can access saved posts and comments in your account, but do not guarantee that the downloadable archive contains every item you saved.
Request a copy of your Reddit account data
- In a computer browser, open Reddit’s data request form.
- Log in to the Reddit account whose data you want, then follow the form’s instructions and submit the request.
- Wait for Reddit to prepare the archive. Reddit says this may take up to 30 days.
- When the archive is ready, check your Reddit inbox for a notification and download link. In some cases, Reddit may send it to the verified email address associated with your account.
- Download the archive and inspect its files for saved posts and comments. Keep a copy somewhere you control; an external drive is one option for offline storage.
Reddit’s data-request instructions, updated March 19, 2026, describe the request and delivery process. They do not specify exactly which saved items every archive contains, or promise that the archive includes the complete saved history.
View saved posts and comments without requesting an archive
If you only need to find an item in Reddit, use the account’s Saved area:
- On reddit.com: Open your profile and select the Saved tab.
- In the iOS or Android app: Open your profile menu and select Saved.
Reddit’s saved-post instructions, updated February 27, 2026, explain where the list appears. Reddit’s account-data access page, updated March 20, 2026, also lists saved posts and comments among account activity you can access after signing in. This in-account list is immediate, but it is not a downloaded backup.

What the downloaded archive may contain
Some Reddit users report that their exports included files named saved_posts.csv and saved_comments.csv. One user reported 2,092 entries in a saved-post file. These are individual user reports, not an official description of archive contents or a guarantee that your export will include the same files, count, or full history. Deleted, unavailable, or very old items may not be represented consistently; Reddit’s cited help pages do not explain how those cases appear in an archive.
Reddit’s API documentation describes saved-listing and saved-category operations, but the documentation does not establish a supported bulk-export method or a guarantee that an API client can retrieve every saved item. An API listing should not be treated as a dependable substitute for the account-data request.

Should you use a third-party exporter?
A Chrome Web Store extension called “Recover & Export Saved Posts for Reddit” advertises exports of visible items in CSV, JSON, and Markdown, as well as a paid option to import Reddit data-export files and rebuild an archive. Those are the extension publisher’s claims, not independently verified results or a Reddit endorsement. An export of visible items is not proof that deleted posts, linked media, or every historical save can be recovered.
Before installing an extension or running a script, check its publisher, permissions, data handling, current compatibility, and whether it works through your logged-in Reddit session. Do not give a third-party service your Reddit password or upload a private account archive to a service you do not trust. Reddit’s official request is the safer starting point for an account-data copy; treat tools that organize saved links or attempt to recover post content as a separate choice.
