Turn the dehumidifier off and unplug it before cleaning. Wipe the case with water and mild detergent, keep water off the appliance itself, clean the bucket, and wash and fully dry the air filter before reinstalling it. Follow the manual for your exact model, especially for filter intervals, indicator resets, and any pump-filter maintenance.
What you need and what to avoid
- Clean water and mild detergent
- A soft cloth for the case and bucket
- A vacuum cleaner with an attachment or a brush for the air intake and outlet grilles
- Avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners. Do not splash or pour water onto the appliance.
How to clean the main parts
-
Switch off and unplug the unit
Turn the dehumidifier off and disconnect its plug from the power source before cleaning. This is the safety instruction in Midea’s manuals: Midea dehumidifier manual, care and cleaning section.
-
Wipe the case and clean the grilles
Use a cloth dampened with water and mild detergent on the exterior. Do not splash water directly onto the unit; Midea warns that this can cause electric shock, insulation deterioration, or rust. Remove dust from the air intake and outlet with a vacuum cleaner or brush.
-
Wash the water bucket
Midea recommends cleaning the bucket every few weeks. Partially fill it with clean water and mild detergent, swish the solution around, then empty and rinse the bucket. Do not put it in a dishwasher. On side-access models covered by the manual, return the bucket securely to its place so the unit can operate.

Wash, dry, and reinstall the air filter
Remove the filter as shown in your model’s manual, wash it with clean water, and let it dry before reinstalling. Never operate the dehumidifier without the filter. A manual for one covered model specifies cleaning the air filter every two weeks under normal operating conditions; other manuals describe cleaning without stating that interval. Use your model’s instructions for the schedule and for resetting a clean-filter indicator, if applicable.
Check your model before cleaning a pump filter
Pump-filter maintenance is not universal across Midea dehumidifiers. One recent Midea manual gives a pump-filter procedure and recommends cleaning it every two weeks under normal conditions. That procedure involves access steps using the side tank, a screw, and the pump drainage structure. Do not try those steps unless the manual for your exact model describes them.

Midea’s dehumidifier FAQ directs owners to their manual for hose instructions and notes that a pump filter should be attached when troubleshooting drainage. Confirm the correct procedure and parts in your model’s manual rather than treating the FAQ as a universal disassembly guide.
Find the right instructions for your Midea model
Midea sells dehumidifiers with different designs and maintenance instructions. Locate the model number on the appliance label, then use that number to find the matching manual through Midea support. Check the manual for filter removal, cleaning frequency, clean-filter indicator reset, and whether a pump filter is covered. For example, the MADA50R5AWT product page describes a washable filter and clean-filter indicator; that does not establish that every Midea model has the same features.
