Which October games stand out by what you want to play?
For puzzle solving
Order of the Sinking Star has the clearest scale claim in the lineup: Nintendo UK describes more than 1,000 interconnected, hand-crafted puzzles, alongside multiple heroes and evolving mechanics. That makes it a strong option to watch if variety and puzzle progression matter more to you than combat or multiplayer.

For rhythm-driven action
Ratatan combines rhythm mechanics with roguelike action and side-scrolling battles. Nintendo UK’s description of battles with over 100 characters points to busy encounters rather than a quiet, score-focused rhythm game.
For exploration and classic action
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is the series entry for players drawn to exploration through Gothic settings. Nintendo UK identifies Rose Belmont and her whip as central features.

For racing or a major action-series prequel
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is the clearest fit for racing fans; GamesRadar+ describes both a single-player roguelite campaign and online races for up to 12 players. Gears of War: E-Day is the story-led action pick among the titles with details in the cited coverage: GamesRadar+ describes it as a prequel centered on the Locust Horde’s attack on humanity.
What to verify before choosing
The cited calendar coverage does not give every game equal detail. For Valor Mortis, Boltgun 2, The Jackbox Party Pack 12, and Star Trek: Outposts Unknown, it establishes a listed date but does not substantiate the platform or gameplay information needed to make a specific recommendation. Confirm those details on an official game or platform page rather than assuming they are available on a particular system.

This is a selection of notable scheduled releases, not a definitive ranking or a review-based verdict. The cited sources do not provide comparable reviews across all ten games. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve is not included because GamesRadar+ listed its October 2 date, which had passed by October 3.
