Is my QNAP Qsync Central version affected?
QNAP identifies Qsync Central 5.0.x as affected by the issues in QSA-26-02. Its fixed-version threshold is Qsync Central 5.0.0.4, dated 2026/01/20, and later. QTS and QuTS hero appear in QNAP’s instructions for updating the application; the advisory does not identify a separate vulnerability in either operating system.
What do the vulnerabilities allow?
QNAP groups the issues into several vulnerability classes, including buffer overflows, out-of-bounds reads and writes, format-string flaws, null-pointer dereferences, uncontrolled resource use, out-of-range pointer offsets, unthrottled allocation, and relative path traversal. Depending on the issue, the stated effects include reading secret or unexpected files, modifying or corrupting memory, crashing processes, and denial of service. The summary describes account requirements for the remote scenarios; it does not establish unauthenticated remote code execution or active exploitation.

Two CVEs with individual NVD scores
- CVE-2025-52868: NVD describes a buffer overflow that can permit memory modification or cause process crashes. NVD assigns it a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.1 (High). The described remote attack requires the attacker to first obtain a user account. NVD’s CVE-2025-52868 record.
- CVE-2025-30276: NVD describes an out-of-bounds write that can modify or corrupt memory. NVD assigns it a CVSS v3.1 base score of 8.8 (High). The described remote attack also requires the attacker to first obtain a user account. NVD’s CVE-2025-30276 record.
Why does QNAP say Moderate when a CVE score is High?
These labels refer to different ratings. QNAP marks the overall QSA-26-02 advisory Moderate, while NVD rates the two CVEs above individually as High under CVSS v3.1. The advisory’s label and each CVE’s score should not be treated as interchangeable measures.
