Neon Mobile is a rewards app that offers payments for calls and referral bonuses, but its current store listings do not state an exact call rate. The launch-period figures widely reported in 2025 are historical, not confirmed current terms. Anyone considering the app should weigh the uncertain payout against the sensitivity of recorded conversations and Neon’s reported security incident.
What Neon Mobile offers
Neon, listed as “Neon – Money Talks,” lets users make calls through its app and promotes rewards for conversations with other Neon users, referral bonuses, and quick payouts. Those are claims in the app’s current Google Play listing; the listing does not provide an exact call rate, eligibility criteria, withdrawal threshold, or detailed approval rules.
The Apple App Store listing also describes paid calls and referrals. Neon Mobile Inc. is identified there as the developer. Neither listing, by itself, establishes how much a particular user will earn.

ExtremeTech reported on September 25, 2025, that Neon offered 30 cents per minute for calls between Neon users and up to $30 per day for calls to people who did not use the app. Those amounts describe the offer reported around launch; they are not verified current rates. The current Google Play listing, updated September 8, 2026, promotes paid calls and quick payouts but gives no exact rate. Read ExtremeTech’s launch-period report.

Before counting on any earnings, check Neon’s current terms and FAQ for the rate in effect, which calls qualify, how the app approves calls, and any minimum or other conditions for withdrawing money. The store listing alone does not answer those questions. Do not treat past promotional figures or unofficial monthly estimates as a reliable income projection.
What happens to your recordings and personal data?
Google Play’s data-safety section says Neon may collect personal information and audio and may share personal information, audio, and other data with third parties. It also says data is encrypted in transit and users can request deletion. These are developer-provided disclosures, not an independent audit or a guarantee that every copy of a recording will be erased.

Neon’s store copy says it anonymizes recordings and redacts personal information. Anonymization does not make voice data risk-free: the audio and conversational context are the material being collected, and details within a conversation may still be sensitive. The listing does not independently establish how every recording is processed, retained, or used.

Is Neon Mobile safe?
There is a significant security incident in the service’s history. TechCrunch reported in September 2025 that a flaw exposed users’ phone numbers, call recordings, and transcripts to other users. Neon took the service offline after the flaw was reported. Read TechCrunch’s report on the exposure.

Neon’s Apple listing later described an “enhanced security architecture,” but that is app-store language from the developer, not independent verification of the current controls or evidence that the earlier exposure’s details have been resolved. The available listings and reporting do not establish that the service is definitively safe or unsafe today. Treat recording and sharing calls as a meaningful privacy decision, rather than assuming that a security claim or encryption disclosure removes the risk.
