visionOS 26 adds two notable Apple Vision Pro features: widgets that remain in a user’s space between sessions, and Safari Spatial Browsing, which can turn supported Reader-mode articles into immersive scenes. Apple announced the update on June 9, 2025; both features require Apple Vision Pro running visionOS 26 or later.
What’s new in visionOS 26?
The update’s headline changes put useful information and web content into the headset’s spatial environment. Widgets act like persistent, glanceable objects; Spatial Browsing changes how supported articles appear as you read them.

What are the new visionOS 26 widgets?
Apple says widgets become spatial, integrate into a user’s space, and reappear whenever they put on Apple Vision Pro. Examples named by Apple include Clock, Weather, Music, and Photos. Users can adjust a widget’s frame width, color, and depth to fit its surroundings.

The Widgets app helps users discover widgets, including compatible widgets from iOS and iPadOS apps. Availability depends on the app having a compatible widget; visionOS 26 does not make every app into a spatial widget automatically.
How developers can make spatial widgets
Developers can use WidgetKit to create widgets with depth and dimension. The feature therefore depends on app and developer support as well as the headset’s software.

How to use Spatial Browsing in Safari on Apple Vision Pro
Spatial Browsing is a Safari option for supported web articles, not a conversion of every webpage into a 3D environment. Apple describes it as a way to transform articles, hide distractions, and reveal spatial scenes that come alive while scrolling. For compatible pages, large images can appear as spatial scenes when the feature is enabled.
- Update Apple Vision Pro to visionOS 26 or later. Spatial Browsing requires this software version or a later one.
- Open Safari and go to an article that supports Reader mode. Pages that do not support Reader mode are not established as compatible with this article-focused experience.
- Select Spatial Browsing. Apple says users can select the feature to transform articles and reveal scenes as they scroll.
- Scroll through the supported article. Large images may appear as spatial scenes; the effect depends on the page’s content and support.
Apple’s announcement does not specify a universal setting path or promise that all images, pages, or web content will become spatial. The practical expectation is selective enhancement for supported Reader-mode articles, rather than automatic 3D rendering of the open web.

Does Safari on Vision Pro turn web pages into 3D?
Not generally. Spatial Browsing can present supported articles and large images as immersive scenes, but it is not a claim that Safari reconstructs arbitrary websites as fully three-dimensional environments. A page’s compatibility and content determine what spatial effects appear.
visionOS 26 also expands Safari’s immersive-media support. Apple and WebKit document support for spatial video, Apple Immersive Video, and 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide-field-of-view video. These are immersive video formats, distinct from Spatial Browsing’s article and image presentation.

Which cameras and controllers work with visionOS 26?
Apple names support for PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers. For immersive capture and viewing, Apple also names 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide-field-of-view content from Insta360, GoPro, and Canon. These announcements establish support for the listed controller family and camera-related content formats; they do not provide a model-by-model compatibility list here.

WebKit’s Safari 26.0 release notes list 75 new features, 3 deprecations, and 171 other improvements. Those counts cover the broader Safari release and are not a measure of Spatial Browsing alone. Apple’s visionOS 26 announcement is dated June 9, 2025, and Apple Support’s visionOS 26 updates page shows a publication date of August 17, 2026.
