Nutanix Central is a management console for bringing registered Nutanix environments into one view. It can surface domain and cluster information, metrics, alerts, and administrative controls across supported Nutanix deployments. Nutanix announced the product in 2023 and made it generally available in 2024. Although the launch described a broad hybrid-multicloud vision, Central should not be read as a console for managing arbitrary AWS, Azure, or other non-Nutanix infrastructure.
What is Nutanix Central?
Nutanix Central is a management plane: a control and visibility layer for Nutanix environments, not the infrastructure itself. Nutanix describes it as a unified console for registered Nutanix domains and services. Its purpose is to reduce the need to move between separate management interfaces when overseeing distributed Nutanix deployments.
The product’s name and launch-era “multi-cloud” framing can suggest broader coverage than the current descriptions establish. Nutanix’s materials focus on its own registered domains, on-premises deployments, and Nutanix Cloud Clusters (NC2). They do not establish that Central manages any cloud or infrastructure simply because it is AWS- or Azure-based.
What can administrators do in Central?
Nutanix’s product materials describe capabilities for visibility, monitoring, service navigation, and administration across registered domains. These are vendor-described features, not independent feature or performance testing.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- See fleet information: Review global visibility, domain and cluster metrics, and capacity-utilization insights.
- Monitor issues: View alert summaries and monitor alerts across domains.
- Move among Nutanix services: Central provides navigation involving Nutanix Cloud Manager, Prism, Nutanix Kubernetes Engine, Files Storage, and Objects Storage, according to Nutanix’s May 2024 availability announcement.
- Apply governance and administration: Nutanix lists federated identity and access management (IAM), projects, categories, and global fleet management. Its datasheet also describes administrative functions across domains, an app marketplace, and lifecycle management for Nutanix services.
In a May 2024 customer quote published by Nutanix, WesBanco Systems Engineer Mitchell Blake said Central let the company access the marketplace, manage alerts, and upgrade software and firmware across registered domains from a single pane. That is vendor-published customer testimony, not an independently measured result.
Does Nutanix Central manage AWS or Azure?
Do not assume so from the phrase “multi-cloud.” Nutanix’s May 2023 announcement presented a future vision of consistent management across public clouds, on-premises, hosted, and edge environments. In that announcement, Thomas Cornely, then Nutanix’s SVP of Product Management, said Central would extend the company’s hybrid multicloud platform toward a “truly universal cloud operating model.” That was a launch-era statement about the intended direction, not a definitive list of current integrations.

Current product descriptions center on registered Nutanix domains and Nutanix services, including on-premises environments and NC2. The reviewed materials do not establish general-purpose management of AWS or Azure resources independent of Nutanix. For a specific cloud configuration, check the current product documentation and supported integrations rather than treating “multi-cloud” as a guarantee of arbitrary cloud coverage.
Is Nutanix Central available, and where can it run?
Nutanix announced Central at its .NEXT conference on May 9, 2023, when it was still under development. Nutanix announced general availability on May 7, 2024. Later Nutanix materials describe two deployment choices: SaaS and on-premises.

The on-premises option is relevant to organizations that need the management plane to run in a customer-controlled environment for governance or sovereignty reasons. Nutanix’s December 2025 announcement specifically positioned that option for such requirements. The deployment choice does not, by itself, establish which option is right for an organization; assess data-residency obligations, operating responsibility, prerequisites, and licensing with Nutanix.
What license do you need?
Central is not universally free or automatically included for every Nutanix customer. Nutanix’s current datasheet lists these eligibility paths:

How Central has changed since its announcement
The 2023 announcement described Central as a forthcoming cloud-delivered solution and said Central and some associated Flow Network Security functionality were under development. By May 2024, Nutanix had announced general availability and described capabilities including registered-domain management, metrics, alerts, projects, IAM, and service navigation. Later materials added an on-premises deployment option. The launch announcement therefore should not be treated as proof that every then-planned capability was already shipping in 2023.
