In Eclipse, use Ctrl+. and Ctrl+, to move between annotations in the active Java editor, and press Ctrl+1 near a problem to inspect available quick fixes. For a class-wide list, open the Problems view, where you can jump to each reported source location and apply a fix when one is offered. These are documented defaults; the active view, plug-ins, and operating system can affect key bindings.
Navigate between problems in the active Java editor
Eclipse provides editor actions for moving to the next or previous problem marker. JDT tips also document annotation navigation: Ctrl+. goes to the next annotation, and Ctrl+, goes to the previous one. Annotation navigation is broader than error-and-warning navigation: it can stop at other annotations too. The toolbar drop-down menus let you configure which annotations are included.
Use annotation navigation when you want to move through the annotations configured for the editor. If you specifically want problem markers, use the Java editor’s Go to Next Problem and Go to Previous Problem actions.
Open Quick Fix at an error or warning
- In the Java editor, place the cursor inside or near the highlighted problem.
- Press Ctrl+1, or choose Edit > Quick Fix.
- Review the proposed corrections. Selecting a proposal displays a preview; apply it only if the change is appropriate.
The Java editor can offer corrections for problems found while typing and after compiling. A light bulb indicates that proposals may be available; it does not guarantee that every error or warning has an automatic fix.

Some proposals can address all problems of the same kind in the current file. Use Ctrl+Enter only when the proposal information explicitly offers that bulk option, and review the effect before applying it.
Use the Problems view to review a class or resource
The Problems view lists errors and warnings reported by builders. It is useful when you want to inspect a set of issues rather than work only from the current cursor location. By default, entries are grouped by severity, and the view supports filters such as All Errors and Warnings on Selection.

- Open the source location: Double-click a problem to open its associated resource at the relevant line.
- Fix an individual entry: Select a problem and use Quick Fix from its context menu when that action is available.
- Narrow the list: Apply a filter to focus on errors, warnings, or the selected resource.
Quick Fix and Quick Assist both use Ctrl+1
Ctrl+1 invokes Quick Fix near a problem and also invokes Quick Assist for local transformations. When an error is present, assists are usually hidden; pressing Ctrl+1 again can display them. Eclipse documents these default direct assist bindings:

These assists perform local code transformations; they are not necessarily corrections for the selected compiler problem. Choose a Quick Fix proposal when you are addressing an error or warning, and use an assist when you want the specific transformation it describes.

Find or change a shortcut that does not work
Eclipse key bindings can vary with the active editor or view, open dialogs, installed plug-ins, and the operating system or windowing system. Check what applies in your current context before assuming a shortcut is unavailable.
- Choose Help > Key Assist, or press Ctrl+Shift+L, to see available bindings.
- To review or change bindings, open the General > Keys preferences page.
- Check the active context and any competing binding, then retry the action in the Java editor or view where you need it.
