CSVPad is a free, portable CSV editor from TrustFm. Extract its ZIP archive to a folder and run it without a conventional installation. It is designed for opening and editing CSV files—not for opening arbitrary spreadsheet formats such as XLSX—and provides row and column tools, search, sorting, delimiter choices, and exports to several formats.
What CSVPad does
CSVPad focuses on direct inspection and editing of delimited text files. Its documented workflow covers creating, opening, saving and saving-as CSV documents, then exporting the loaded CSV to other formats.
- Add, duplicate, remove, move and swap rows or columns.
- Sort a selected column in ascending or descending order.
- Copy and paste cells, with undo and redo.
- Search the document and send a selected cell to a Google search in a browser.
- Adjust fonts and colors, resize cells automatically and toggle first-row labels.
- Take a JPG or BMP snapshot of the visible grid and print it.
These features make CSVPad a focused CSV utility rather than a general spreadsheet replacement.
Portable installation
The documentation calls CSVPad portable. Download the ZIP archive, extract it to a folder of your choice, and launch the program from that extracted location. This extract-and-run model avoids a standard installer, but the reviewed material does not establish how well version 1.2 behaves on every current Windows or Linux release.

How do I edit a CSV file in CSVPad?
- Extract the CSVPad ZIP archive to a folder and start the application.
- Open a CSV file using the program’s open command. CSVPad’s documentation says it opens CSV files only.
- Edit cells directly, or use the row and column commands to insert, duplicate, remove, move or swap table elements.
- Use document search to locate values. Select a column and choose ascending or descending sort when you need to reorder records.
- Save the file, or use Save As when you need a different separator.
- Use Export when the destination is HTML, XML, ODS or Microsoft Excel 8.0 XLS rather than another delimited text file.
CSVPad file formats and delimiters
Opening files
CSVPad is documented as a CSV-only opener. It is not documented as an editor for XLSX, XLS, ODS or other native spreadsheet files.
Saving delimited text
Save As offers these separators: comma, semicolon, pipe, asterisk, colon, dollar and tab. Choose the separator expected by the program that will consume the file.

Exporting other formats
The Export command supports HTML, XML, ODS and Microsoft Excel 8.0 XLS. The documentation says exports support Unicode. Saving with a delimiter and exporting to another file format are separate operations.
Can CSVPad open Excel files?
Not as an input format according to the documentation: CSVPad opens CSV files only. It can export the loaded CSV to Excel 8.0 XLS, but TrustFm says it does not use Microsoft Office and therefore cannot confirm that exported XLS files open correctly in Microsoft Office. Treat that export as an interoperability option to verify with your own target application, not as a guarantee of native Excel compatibility.

Version and operating-system information
TrustFm’s product page identifies version 1.2 as the latest version. The publisher lists Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP and Linux, and its download navigation offers 32-bit and 64-bit Windows and Linux options. These are publisher-listed targets; the reviewed pages do not independently establish support or testing on current Windows or Linux releases.

License, maintenance and data-loss caveats
The project repository describes CSVPad as a simple Pascal application, attributes the project to author Anastasios Karydis with permission, and identifies GPL-2.0 licensing. The official Windows download page identifies GNU GPL v2.

Who should use CSVPad?
A good fit
- You need a small, free utility for inspecting and manually editing CSV data.
- You prefer an extract-and-run application that can live in a chosen folder.
- You need row and column manipulation, sorting, search and selectable delimiters.
- You occasionally need HTML, XML, ODS or XLS export from a loaded CSV.
Choose another tool when
- You need to open or edit XLSX or other native spreadsheet files directly.
- You require documented support for a current operating-system release.
- You need published large-file limits, performance measurements, encoding guarantees or vendor support.
- You require confirmed Microsoft Office compatibility for exported XLS files.
The Bottom Line
CSVPad is a practical portable CSV editor for straightforward table edits and format conversion.
