NirSoft’s free BrowserAddonsView utility gives you one inventory of browser add-ons and plugins installed on Windows. Run BrowserAddonsView.exe—there is no installation wizard or extra DLL—and it scans Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer, including add-ons found in multiple Chrome and Firefox profiles.
What BrowserAddonsView shows
The main window presents a sortable inventory of detected add-ons. Depending on the browser and item, you can review fields such as:
- Add-on or plugin name
- Version
- Description
- Web browser
- Status
- Other associated details exposed by the browser installation
Use the Quick Filter to narrow the list, click column headers to sort it, and select rows for export or copying. NirSoft lists version 1.30 as supporting Windows XP through Windows 11 on both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. Check the official NirSoft page for changes before deploying it broadly.
How to list your installed add-ons
- Download the BrowserAddonsView package from NirSoft and extract it.
- Open
BrowserAddonsView.exe. The program runs directly and does not require an installation process or additional DLL files. - Review the detected rows in the main window. Sort by browser, name, version or status to make the inventory easier to audit.
- Enter a term in Quick Filter when you need to find a particular extension, plugin or publisher.
Include add-ons from every Windows user profile
By default, you may be looking at the current Windows profile. To scan profiles for all users on the computer:

- Press F9 to open Advanced Options.
- Set Data Source Mode to This computer – All Windows Profiles.
- Apply the setting and review the refreshed list.
Your account needs read permission for the Windows profile folders. If permissions prevent access, the inventory can be incomplete; run the utility with an account that can read the relevant profiles or obtain the required permissions.
Inspect profiles on another PC or an external drive
BrowserAddonsView can load Chrome and Firefox profiles from an external drive or a remote computer. Use Advanced Options and choose the data source that points to the copied or remote Windows profile data, then scan and export the results as usual.

NirSoft documents an important boundary: external or remote loading is not supported for Internet Explorer. An IE inventory therefore has to be collected from the computer where those add-ons are installed.
Export the inventory
Select the rows you want, then use Save Selected Items. The documented export choices include:

You can also copy the selected list to the clipboard and paste it into a spreadsheet or support ticket. For repeatable administration, the command-line interface supports saving output and choosing columns such as Name, Version, Description, Web Browser and Status. Use the command-line syntax documented by your downloaded version rather than assuming options from an older release.

Chrome
The scanner can find Chrome add-ons across multiple browser profiles, which is useful on shared Windows machines or computers where users maintain separate profiles.

Firefox
Firefox profiles are also scanned. NirSoft notes a known issue: when the same linked plugin is present through multiple Firefox profiles, BrowserAddonsView can display it more than once—once for each profile. Treat those rows as profile-specific sightings rather than automatically counting them as different plugins.
Internet Explorer
Internet Explorer add-ons can be listed from the local Windows installation. The documented remote and external-profile workflow does not support IE, so collect those results locally.

Edge
Although the title focuses on Chrome, Firefox and IE, NirSoft’s version history records Microsoft Edge detection as an addition in version 1.22. Confirm the behavior in the version you download if Edge coverage matters to your audit.

- Identify duplicate profile entries during a Firefox review.
- Attach a CSV, HTML or text inventory to an incident or support ticket.
- Filter for a known add-on name before investigating browser performance or policy conflicts.
Important limits and operating notes
- The utility reports what it detects in supported browser data; a missing row can indicate an unsupported location, insufficient read permission or an item the current release does not recognize.
- Firefox linked plugins may appear repeatedly when they are associated with multiple profiles.
- Remote and external loading applies to Chrome and Firefox, not Internet Explorer.
- Support details here reflect NirSoft’s documented version 1.30 and its version history; software behavior and supported releases can change.
License and redistribution
NirSoft labels BrowserAddonsView freeware. Its license permits redistribution only when the package is unmodified, all files are included and the package is not sold or bundled into a commercial product. For normal personal or administrative inventory work, download the original package and retain its included files.
The Bottom Line
For a fast Windows-wide add-on inventory, run BrowserAddonsView, switch Advanced Options to This computer – All Windows Profiles when needed, then export the selected rows. Remember the Firefox duplicate-plugin caveat and the lack of remote or external Internet Explorer scanning.
