The quickest way to save a webpage as a PDF is to open the browser’s print or share command, choose a PDF destination, preview the pages, and save the file. Chrome and Firefox provide this on desktop and Android; Safari on iPhone uses Share, Markup and Save File To. The exact labels vary by device, so use the section for your browser below.

A separate PDF application, printer, paper or ink is not required for these built-in workflows. Always inspect print preview before confirming: a PDF represents the browser’s print output, and the sources do not promise identical rendering across every site, browser or device.
Save a webpage as a PDF on a computer
Google Chrome
- Open the page you want to keep.
- Choose File > Print. You can instead press Ctrl+P on Windows or Linux, or Command+P on Mac.
- In print preview, open the destination list and select Save as PDF.
- Review the preview and available print settings, then select the save location and confirm.
Preview is important for long pages. It lets you see where page breaks occur and whether the portion you need is included before a file is created.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open the page, open the Firefox menu and choose Print.
- In print preview, open the destination dropdown.
- Select Save to PDF, review the pages and print settings, then save.
Firefox’s desktop guide was last updated on August 22, 2024. Menu wording can change as Firefox updates, but Print remains the entry point documented by Mozilla.

Microsoft Edge
- Open the webpage and choose Print from Edge’s menu, or use the print shortcut provided by your operating system.
- Inspect the print preview and destination choices displayed by the current Edge installation.
- Choose the PDF destination, adjust the available options, and save.
Microsoft’s support guidance specifically documents a setting that controls whether webpage backgrounds appear in the printed output. If colors or background graphics matter, look for that option in Edge’s print settings rather than assuming the preview will include them.
Safari on Mac
The available material confirms that Safari for iPhone can export a PDF through Share, but it does not establish a current, official Mac-specific sequence. On a Mac, open Safari’s print command and follow the PDF destination controls shown in the system print dialog; verify the labels and result in your installed macOS version instead of applying the iPhone steps.
Save a webpage as a PDF on Android
Chrome for Android
- Open the page in Chrome.
- Tap More, then Share, then Print.
- Open the print settings if they are collapsed and select Save as PDF.
- Choose where to save the file and confirm.
The save-location prompt is part of this route, so choose a folder you can locate later rather than accepting an unfamiliar default.

Firefox for Android
- Open the page and tap the three-dot menu.
- Tap Share, then choose Save as PDF.
- Tap Download.
Mozilla says the resulting file is placed in Downloads and can also be opened from Firefox’s Downloads list. Mozilla’s Android instruction page carries a last-updated date of May 3, 2023, so check the current menu if your build uses slightly different wording.
Save a webpage as a PDF on an iPhone
Safari
- Open the webpage in Safari.
- Tap the page menu or the Share button, depending on your tab layout, and tap Share.
- If Markup appears, tap it. You can annotate the page before exporting.
- Tap Done, then Save File To.
- Name the PDF, select a location in Files and tap Save.
Markup is optional when it is offered; skipping annotation still leaves you with a PDF through the same Share workflow.
Make the saved PDF easier to use
- Check pagination: Scroll through print preview and look for headings, tables or images split at an inconvenient point.
- Adjust layout: Use the orientation, scale, margins or other controls that your browser exposes. The exact set differs by browser and operating system.
- Decide on backgrounds: If a design depends on colored backgrounds, enable the browser’s background-printing option when available. Edge documents this control explicitly.
- Confirm the scope: Make sure the preview includes the complete page or the intended range before saving.
- Use a known folder: Android Chrome asks where to save; Firefox for Android uses Downloads. On iPhone, select a recognizable Files folder and filename.
- Open the finished file: Inspect the saved PDF, not just the preview, because the final rendering can differ from the live page.
Common problems and fixes
The PDF is blank or missing content
First, return to the webpage, wait for visible content to finish loading, and open print preview again. Compare the preview with the page itself. A browser-generated PDF reflects print output; the official guidance does not guarantee that every dynamic element, embedded viewer or interactive control will render identically.

Images or colors do not appear
Check print-preview options for background graphics and image-related settings. Edge’s documented background control is the clearest example. If the preview still omits an element, the browser may not include that page component in its print rendition.
Page breaks make the document hard to read
Use the available layout, orientation, scale and margin controls, then inspect every page in preview. For a very long page, save a second copy with a different layout if the first arrangement is not readable.

You cannot find the saved file
On Android Chrome, repeat the process and note the folder selected in the save dialog. On Firefox for Android, check Downloads or Firefox’s Downloads list. On iPhone, open Files and browse to the location chosen in Save File To. Desktop browsers use the path selected by the save dialog.

The menu labels do not match
Browser interfaces change. Look for the stable entry point—Print on desktop, or Share on mobile—then select the PDF destination offered by your current version. Do not assume that a menu documented for one operating system exists on another.
You need the page without popups or consent overlays
Browser printing captures what the browser can render at print time. If consent banners, newsletter dialogs or chat widgets cover the page, dismiss them before opening print preview. For repeatable, automated captures, use the API workflow below.
