A general carousel block is another option when you want to build each slide from ordinary WordPress blocks.
Choose the right method

There is no universal best plugin. Directory listings describe features, but they are not independent tests of speed, security, compatibility, or accessibility.
Method 1: Add a testimonial slider with a dedicated plugin
1. Protect the existing site
If your normal maintenance process includes backups or staging, create a recent backup or test the change on staging before installing a new plugin.
2. Install and activate the plugin
- Sign in to WordPress administration.
- Go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for Easy Testimonial Slider and Form (or the current name of the plugin you selected).
- Choose Install Now, then Activate.
3. Add and review testimonials
Open the plugin’s testimonial management screen and enter each quote, customer name, and any optional attribution or image. Use a customer photo only when your site has permission to publish it and your privacy and consent practices allow it.

4. Insert the slider block
- Edit the page or post where the testimonials should appear.
- Open the block inserter and search for Testimonial Slider.
- Insert the block and configure its available layout, navigation, and motion settings.
- Save or update the page, then preview it at desktop and mobile widths.
5. Use the shortcode when needed
Easy Testimonial Slider and Form documents [print_best_testimonial_slider] for displaying its slider. Add a Shortcode block in Gutenberg, paste the shortcode, and preview the result. Shortcodes are useful in widget areas or templates that do not expose the plugin’s block.
Method 2: Build rotating testimonials with a carousel block
A block-based carousel such as rtCarousel can use ordinary WordPress blocks as slide content. Create one slide per testimonial, then place the quote, attribution, image, or call-to-action inside each slide. This approach is useful when the editor already uses a block-based design system or wants more than testimonial text in a slide.
- Install and activate the carousel block plugin from Plugins → Add New.
- Edit the target page and insert the carousel block.
- Add a slide for each testimonial.
- Place paragraph, heading, image, and other supported blocks inside each slide.
- Configure previous/next controls, dots, and any autoplay option exposed by the current version.
- Preview the page and test the carousel with a keyboard before publishing.
Accept visitor submissions safely
If customers submit testimonials through your site, enable the plugin’s submission form only after deciding who reviews entries and where personal data is stored. Easy Testimonial Slider and Form documents a submission form and captcha setting; its FAQ says incoming submissions are held in pending status for review.
- Require an editor or administrator to approve every submission before publication.
- Confirm that the submitter has agreed to publication of the quote, name, role, company, and image you plan to show.
- Remove unnecessary personal information from the public display.
- Test the form’s captcha, error messages, confirmation message, and email or dashboard notification.
Plugin features and plan differences
Feature availability changes by plugin and tier. Easy Testimonial Slider and Form lists one slider in its free version; its Pro description includes unlimited sliders, a testimonial grid, and additional styling. Real Testimonials lists slider, carousel, grid, submission-form, and shortcode blocks. The Real Testimonials directory listing states minimum requirements of WordPress 6.3 and PHP 7.4 and shows a 4.0.0 changelog dated September 4, 2026. Check the current directory listing and your hosting environment before installation because these details can change.

Make rotation usable and accessible
Autoplay is optional, not a requirement. Moving text can interrupt reading, so a manually operated slider or a static testimonial grid may be the better choice.
If autoplay is enabled
- Provide a clearly visible pause or stop control.
- Keep previous and next controls reachable and usable from the keyboard.
- Pause movement while a user hovers over or focuses the carousel when the plugin supports that behavior.
- Respect a visitor’s reduced-motion preference when the plugin offers that setting.
- Ensure each quote remains readable long enough to finish, including on mobile screens.
The Accessible Carousel & Slider directory listing describes no autoplay by default, a stop/start control when autoplay is enabled, pausing on hover and focus, reduced-motion handling, keyboard controls, and a readable fallback when JavaScript is unavailable. Those are vendor-described features, not independent certification of the plugin or your site. The W3C/WAI guidance for WCAG 2.2 Success Criterion 2.2.2, “Pause, Stop, Hide,” provides the relevant accessibility context; choosing a plugin alone does not establish site-wide WCAG conformance.
Test before publishing
- Use the Tab key to reach the carousel, its controls, and any links inside slides.
- Operate previous, next, and pause controls without a mouse.
- Check that focus does not jump unexpectedly when a slide changes.
- Test with a screen reader and with JavaScript disabled if the plugin claims a fallback.
- Check contrast, text size, image alternative text, and layout at narrow mobile widths.
Troubleshooting common problems
The slider is blank
- Confirm that at least one testimonial is published or approved.
- Check that the block or shortcode belongs to the plugin you activated.
- Clear caching and optimization layers, then test again.
- Temporarily test with a default theme or other plugins disabled to identify a conflict.
The shortcode prints as text
Place [print_best_testimonial_slider] in a WordPress Shortcode block or another area that executes shortcodes. A normal Paragraph block may display the characters instead of rendering the slider.
Autoplay does not stop
Verify the current plugin’s pause, hover, focus, and reduced-motion settings. If users cannot stop the movement, disable autoplay or replace the carousel with a manually operated slider or static grid.

Visitor entries never appear publicly
Check the plugin’s pending or moderation queue. Submissions may intentionally require approval before publication.
