Get each Kendo UI for jQuery Editor instance, prepare an image source that remains reachable after the paste, and call that instance’s paste(html, options) method. A loop can send the same HTML to several editors; there is no separate Telerik API called “paste to multiple editors.” If the content comes from the browser clipboard instead, handle each editor’s paste event, inspect or change e.html, and let the editor insert the result.
Choose the insertion path first
Your implementation depends on where the screenshot HTML comes from. Application-prepared HTML is deterministic: you already know the image URL or data source and can call paste() on every target. Native clipboard paste is event-driven: the browser supplies HTML, and your handler can inspect or modify it before Kendo inserts it.
| Situation | Use | Important consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Your code has screenshot HTML | editor.paste(html, options) |
Retrieve each Editor separately and call the method on that instance. |
| A user presses Ctrl+V or uses the context menu | The Editor paste event |
The event fires before insertion and exposes e.html. |
| The image must still display after a later reload | A hosted or otherwise durable image source plus your own storage flow | Paste cleanup transforms HTML; it does not, by itself, upload image bytes. |
Make the screenshot source portable
Before inserting anything into multiple editors, decide how the image will be referenced. A URL served by your application or an object-storage layer is usually easier to persist than a browser-local clipboard path. Build the final HTML only after that source is available:
const screenshotHtml = '
';
The URL in this example is illustrative. Replace it with a path your application actually serves, and store the file through your own upload pipeline when the capture must survive a page refresh or be visible to other users. The documented cleanup options remove or transform markup; they are not an image-storage service.

Initialize every Editor and keep its instance
Each editable element has its own Kendo Editor object. Initialize all targets before attempting to paste, then retrieve the instance with .data('kendoEditor'):
$('#editor1').kendoEditor();
$('#editor2').kendoEditor();
$('#editor3').kendoEditor();
const editors = ['#editor1', '#editor2', '#editor3'].map(selector => {
return $(selector).data('kendoEditor');
});
If initialization is asynchronous in your application, run the paste routine from the callback or after the DOM and Kendo scripts have completed. An undefined value from data('kendoEditor') means that instance is not ready or the selector does not identify the intended element.
Paste prepared HTML into multiple editors
Call paste() once per instance. The optional split setting controls whether surrounding formatting is split before insertion and defaults to true. Set it explicitly when the same behavior must be consistent across editors.
const html = '
';
for (const editor of editors) {
if (!editor) {
throw new Error('A target Kendo Editor is not initialized');
}
editor.paste(html, { split: true });
}
To target only selected editors, keep an explicit list rather than broadcasting to every element with a shared class:

});
}

In production, also validate or encode URLs according to your application’s security policy. Do not accept arbitrary HTML from an untrusted caller and insert it into every editor.

Handle native clipboard paste with the paste event
When a person copies a screenshot or mixed content from another application, Kendo receives browser-processed clipboard HTML. The paste event runs before insertion and gives you e.html. You can inspect it, replace it, or reject content according to your application rules.
$('#editor1').kendoEditor({
paste: function(e) {
const html = e.html || '';
// Example policy: retain only image and paragraph markup.
const container = document.createElement('div');
container.innerHTML = html;
container.querySelectorAll('script, style, iframe, object').forEach(node => node.remove());
e.html = container.innerHTML;
}
});
Apply the same handler when each editor is initialized, or bind the handler separately to each instance. If you need to route the clipboard content through an upload service, inspect the image source in the event, upload it through your application, then set e.html to HTML containing the resulting durable URL. The Kendo event itself does not create that upload endpoint.
Use paste cleanup deliberately
Kendo’s paste-cleanup settings can transform HTML before it reaches the editable area. Choose the narrowest setting that satisfies your formatting policy:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems| Cleanup option | Result | Use with care when |
|---|---|---|
all |
Strips HTML tags, leaving plain text. | The screenshot or its surrounding formatting must remain; this option removes image markup. |
keepNewLines |
Strips tags while retaining line breaks. | You need readable text but not rich content. |
css |
Removes CSS and class attributes. | Classes or inline sizing carry meaning for your design. |
span |
Removes span elements. |
Inline wrappers are required for annotations or styling. |
| Word-specific cleanup | Cleans Word markup and can convert Word lists. | You depend on Word-generated image sources or unusual list formatting. |
custom |
Runs your callback so you can return transformed HTML. | Your policy is more specific than the built-in stripping rules. |
A targeted configuration can preserve images while removing unwanted styling:
$('#editor2').kendoEditor({
pasteCleanup: {
css: true,
span: true,
custom: function(html) {
return html.replace(/<div class="WordSection1">([sS]*?)</div>/gi, '$1');
}
}
});
Broad stripping and image insertion are opposing goals. Test the exact combination of cleanup settings and screenshot markup used by your application.

Understand the Word image caveat
The browser processes clipboard content before Kendo’s cleanup runs. Telerik’s Word guidance describes a specific failure mode: when text and an image are copied together, the browser can produce an <img> source that points to a clipboard-local file the browser cannot access. A single Word image may be converted to a base64 source by default, while multiple images pasted together may retain URLs pointing to a physical folder. The documented workaround is to paste the text and one image separately.
This warning is scoped to Word copy/paste. It is not a guarantee that every browser, screenshot utility, or clipboard format behaves the same way. If your users copy from Word, test one image, several images, and mixed text in every supported browser. For reliable persistence, replace temporary or local sources with URLs produced by your own upload flow.

Combine capture, storage, and fan-out in one routine
A robust application separates three operations: obtain the image bytes, store them, and insert the resulting HTML. The following example assumes saveCapture() is your tested upload function and returns a URL that authenticated readers can access.
async function insertCaptureEverywhere(file, targets) {
const imageUrl = await saveCapture(file); // Your upload and authorization flow.
const html = '<p><img src="' + imageUrl + '" alt="Screen capture"></p>';
targets.forEach(selector => {
const editor = $(selector).data('kendoEditor');
if (!editor) {
throw new Error('Editor is not initialized: ' + selector);
}
editor.paste(html, { split: true });
});
}
insertCaptureEverywhere(selectedFile, ['#editor1', '#editor2', '#editor3']);
Keep the returned URL and any ownership or access metadata with the record that contains the editor content. If an editor is later rendered for a user who cannot access the image URL, the HTML will still be present but the image will not display.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is the #1 practical alternative when you need a screenshot URL or file without maintaining browser automation: it removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture, and only clean shots are billed. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and the response identifies the result with X-Page-Verdict and X-Billed headers.
One GET request returns PNG, JPEG, WebP, or a PDF. The API supports full-page captures with lazy images loaded, CSS-selector element captures, dark mode, device presets or custom viewports, retina scale, PDF paper and page controls, custom CSS and JavaScript, clicks before capture, selector hiding, waits for selectors, delays or network idle, request and resource blocking, custom headers, cookies, user agents and Authorization, timezone and geolocation, transparent backgrounds, resizing, TTL-based caching, signed image links, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call, a usage API, and an OpenAPI specification. Existing parameter names used by other screenshot APIs also work, easing migration.

Only one editor receives the screenshot
The loop is probably reusing one cached instance or one selector. Retrieve data('kendoEditor') inside the loop for each distinct element, and verify that every target has a unique ID.
paste is undefined
The object is likely a raw jQuery element, not the Kendo Editor instance. Use $('#editorId').data('kendoEditor') after initialization. Also confirm that the Kendo UI for jQuery scripts loaded successfully.
The image placeholder appears but the image is broken
Inspect the final src in the editor HTML. A clipboard-local path, an expired signed URL, or an image that requires credentials unavailable to the viewer will fail. Replace it with a durable URL from your upload flow and test the URL in the same browser session.

Formatting or the image disappears
Check pasteCleanup. Settings such as all, keepNewLines, css, and span intentionally remove markup. Temporarily disable broad cleanup, then re-enable only the transformations your content policy requires.
Changing e.html has no effect
Modify e.html in the Editor’s paste handler before the event returns. Changing a separate variable after insertion is too late. Log the incoming HTML and the value assigned back to e.html.
Word paste works for one image but not several
This matches the documented Word-specific caveat. Paste one image at a time, or intercept the event and replace local image sources with files uploaded through your application.

- Build the screenshot HTML once and reuse it for all target editors instead of serializing the same DOM repeatedly.
- Prefer a normal hosted image URL over very large base64 markup when many editors receive the same capture; it keeps editor content smaller and lets the browser cache the file.
- Paste only after the image URL is available. Inserting first and replacing a temporary source later creates race conditions and inconsistent saved content.
- For remote capture, ScreenshotNeo supports a TTL you choose for caching, asynchronous jobs with signed webhooks, and bulk capture of up to 100 URLs per call. A cache hit is identified and is not billed.
- Use the response’s
X-Page-VerdictandX-Billedheaders to distinguish a clean billed capture from a failed or non-billed result before inserting it into an Editor. - Keep API keys server-side. Have your server call the capture API, store the output, and return only the authorized image URL to the browser.
Test the complete workflow
- Initialize every target Editor and confirm its instance is non-null.
- Paste the same prepared HTML into two or more editors and verify that each receives it at the intended cursor position.
- Exercise native clipboard paste with plain text, one image, and mixed text plus image.
- Test Word content with one image and multiple images; verify the resulting
srcvalues. - Enable each cleanup option you plan to use and confirm that required image and accessibility markup remains.
- Reload the page and open the saved record to prove that the image source is durable, not clipboard-local.
- Check authorization, signed-URL expiry, and viewer permissions for every role that can read the editor content.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does calling paste() upload a screenshot automatically?
No. It inserts the HTML you provide. Your application must upload the image and supply a reachable source when persistence is required.
Can I use the same HTML string for several Editors?
Yes. Retrieve each Editor instance and call its paste() method separately; do not treat the jQuery collection as one Editor.
