Most iPhone Safari full-page screenshot problems come from using the wrong stage of the screenshot workflow, not from the page itself. Open the screenshot preview, tap Full Page, inspect the capture, then choose the save format your iOS version offers. If Full Page is missing, first verify that the screenshot was taken in Safari and that you opened the preview interface. If the page is incomplete, let it finish loading and revisit content that appears only while scrolling. If the capture works but a single long image cannot be saved, use the documented PDF option or another format shown on your iPhone.
The supported Safari workflow
Apple documents full-page capture for content beyond the visible screen, including an entire webpage in Safari. The control appears after you take a normal screenshot; it is not a separate command in Safari.
- Open the page in Safari. Wait for the section you need to load. For very long pages, scroll through areas that load as you move down.
- Take a screenshot. On an iPhone with Face ID, press and quickly release the side button and volume-up button together. On an iPhone with a Home button, press and quickly release the side button and Home button together. Apple also lists Siri, AssistiveTouch and Back Tap as alternate screenshot methods.
- Open the screenshot interface. Tap the thumbnail when it appears. iOS can instead be configured to show a full-screen preview, so look for that interface if no thumbnail is visible.
- Select Full Page. In the screenshot editor, tap Full Page. Drag through the preview to check the entire document and crop unwanted areas.
- Save using an available destination. Apple’s iOS 17 guide documents Save PDF to Files. Some iOS versions also offer Save to Photos for a single long image.
The important distinction is that capture and export are separate steps. A successful full-page preview does not guarantee that every save format will be offered.

When “Full Page” is missing
Verify the app and the preview
Apple’s current iPhone guide specifically describes Full Page for content such as an entire Safari webpage. Take the screenshot while the webpage is open in Safari, then open the screenshot interface. Depending on your preview setting, that interface may be a temporary thumbnail or a full-screen presentation. The Full Page control is accessed from the interface, not from Safari’s page menu.

Check the device details before seeking model-specific help
If the control remains absent after those checks, record the iPhone model, iOS version and the fact that the page was open in Safari. Apple’s procedural documentation does not establish one universal cause for every missing-control case. Avoid treating an anecdotal fix—such as restarting Safari, moving its icon or changing a WebKit setting—as a guaranteed remedy.
When the page looks incomplete
Inspect before saving
Use the full-page preview as a diagnostic, not just as a confirmation screen. Drag through it and look for the section where content disappears. If the page has not finished loading, wait and capture again.
Trigger content that appears during scrolling
Some pages reveal images or sections only as you traverse them. Scroll through the page until the material you need is visible, wait for it to settle, and then take a new screenshot. This is a sensible troubleshooting step; Apple’s guides do not identify lazy loading, embedded frames, sticky headers or script behavior as a single verified cause of incomplete captures.
Separate a page defect from a capture defect
Open the same URL normally and confirm that the missing section exists before blaming the screenshot feature. If the section is absent in the live page, the capture cannot include it. If it is visible live but absent from the preview, note the URL, iOS version and where the preview stops when reporting the issue.

When saving as one long image fails
A full-page capture can succeed even when the desired export option is unavailable. Apple’s iOS 17 documentation specifically describes Save PDF to Files, which produces a multipage PDF for long content. MacRumors reported on September 11, 2023 that iOS 17 added Save to Photos for a single long image, but that this option may not appear when scrollable content is excessively long.
Therefore, follow the labels shown on your iPhone rather than assuming every device has the same choices. If Save to Photos is absent, use Save PDF to Files when available. A missing image option does not prove that Full Page capture failed.
What iOS version changes do—and do not—tell you
Apple Developer’s Safari 26.0 release notes identify Safari 26 as available for iOS 26 on September 15, 2025. Those notes do not identify a specific fix for full-page screenshot failures. Updating iOS can change labels or presentation, but it is not an established universal fix for a missing control, incomplete page or unavailable export format. After an update, repeat the supported workflow and record the exact labels your device shows.

- Is the page open in Safari rather than another browser or an in-app web view?
- Did you take a normal screenshot with the hardware buttons, Siri, AssistiveTouch or Back Tap?
