In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and choose the full-page option. In Firefox, open Screenshot and select Save full page. The exact menu can vary by browser version, device type, and market.
Choose the right method
A scrolling screenshot is normally called a full-page screenshot. Pick the browser-based method that matches your setup:

If the page continues below the bottom edge, use Edge or Firefox rather than an ordinary desktop snip.
Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Use the shortcut
- Open the webpage in Edge and wait for the visible content to finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S.
- Choose the full-page capture option in Screenshot. Edge’s Screenshot feature is designed to include portions of a webpage that would otherwise require scrolling.
- Review the result. Use the markup tools if you need to draw, highlight, or crop.
- Choose the command to copy the image or save it to a file.
Use the menu when the shortcut does not work
Right-click an empty area of the webpage and choose Screenshot. You can also open Screenshot through Edge’s settings interface when the context-menu entry is unavailable. Menu labels and availability can differ by Edge version, device type, or market, so the menu route is the practical fallback.

When Edge produces an unexpected image
- Make sure you selected the full-page option, not a rectangular selection.
- Close a page-level dialog or consent prompt that is covering the content before starting.
- For pages that load sections only after scrolling, wait for the page to finish rendering and try again.
Capture a full webpage in Firefox
Use Save full page
- Open the target page in Firefox.
- Open the page’s Screenshot action.
- Select Save full page. This tells Firefox to capture the entire document rather than only the visible viewport.
- Choose whether to download the image or copy it to the clipboard.
If Screenshot is not visible, add it with Menu > More Tools > Customize Toolbar. Find the Screenshot control, add it to the toolbar, and then repeat the steps above.
Check the result
Open the saved file at its native size before sharing it. Very tall pages can be difficult to read when displayed at a reduced scale; for review, zoom into sections or use an image viewer that can pan vertically.
Use Firefox Developer Tools for a technical workflow
Enable the full-page screenshot button
- Open Firefox Developer Tools and select Settings.
- Under Available Toolbox Buttons, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Close settings, then click the screenshot icon in Developer Tools.
- Firefox saves the capture to your Downloads folder by default.

Why Windows Snipping Tool is not the right tool for a scrolling page
Windows+Shift+S opens Snipping Tool’s capture overlay. Its documented modes are freeform, rectangular, window, and full screen. Those modes capture what is currently on the display or in a selected window; they do not automatically scroll through a webpage. Use Snipping Tool for a visible region, an application window, or the entire current screen. Switch to Edge or Firefox when you need content below the fold.
Prepare the page before capturing
Wait for dynamic content
Single-page apps, dashboards, and pages with lazy images may continue changing after the first paint. Wait until headings, images, charts, and embedded widgets that matter to you are present. If a section appears only after interaction, expand it before starting the full-page capture.

Set a useful viewport
Resize the browser window to the width you want readers to see. A narrow window may trigger a mobile layout; a wide one may create a very large image. Keep browser zoom at a predictable level, usually 100 percent, unless you have a specific reason to enlarge text.
Remove temporary obstructions
- Dismiss cookie or newsletter dialogs that cover content.
- Close chat bubbles or floating video controls if they obscure text.
- Scroll once through the page when you suspect images are lazy-loaded, then return to the top and capture.
- Do not include private tabs, account details, or notifications in a screenshot you will publish.
Account for fixed and sticky elements
Headers that remain fixed while the document scrolls can appear repeatedly or cover content in some capture implementations. If important text is hidden, temporarily collapse the header when the site allows it, or capture the affected section separately.
Troubleshoot common failures
The full-page command is missing
Check that you are using a current version of Edge or Firefox and try the documented menu path instead of a shortcut. In Firefox, add Screenshot through Menu > More Tools > Customize Toolbar. On a managed laptop, an administrator may hide or restrict browser features; try another permitted browser or ask the administrator.

The image stops at the visible screen
You likely selected a visible-area, window, or rectangular capture. Restart the command and explicitly choose Edge’s full-page option or Firefox’s Save full page. Snipping Tool will not extend a capture by scrolling.
Images or sections are blank
Wait for network activity and lazy-loaded content to finish. Scroll through the page once, return to the top, and capture again. If the site requires a sign-in, confirm that the page is still authenticated and that a privacy extension is not blocking the content.
The capture is extremely tall or hard to share
Save the original image first, then create a cropped excerpt for a message or ticket. For a document that must paginate, use a PDF workflow instead of forcing an entire long page into one bitmap.

The shortcut does nothing
Another application or a corporate keyboard policy may be intercepting the key combination. Open Screenshot from the page menu in Edge, or use Firefox’s toolbar action. Laptop function-key layers generally do not affect Ctrl+Shift+S, but external keyboard utilities can.

- Use Edge when you want a quick built-in shortcut and markup tools.
- Use Firefox when you want a clear Save full page command and clipboard or download output.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I capture a page that requires a login?
A browser capture can use the signed-in session already open in that tab, provided the page is permitted to render. For scripted requests, pass the site’s required cookies, headers, or Authorization values only through a service and account where you are authorized to do so.
Is a full-page screenshot an accessible document?
No. It is a visual image, so text may not be selectable or readable by assistive technology. Share the original webpage or an accessible document as well when readers need search, copy, or screen-reader support.
