To capture a webpage beyond what fits on your screen, use your browser’s full-page screenshot feature—not your computer’s ordinary screenshot shortcut. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S, choose a full-page capture, then copy or save it. In Firefox, use the screenshot control in Developer Tools. If you meant hiding browser tabs and toolbars rather than capturing content below the fold, use your browser’s full-screen display mode; that changes what you see, but does not by itself create a full-page image.
Choose the kind of capture you need
“Full-screen” can mean two different things. A regular screen capture records the pixels currently visible on your display. A full-page webpage capture extends beyond the browser window to include content further down the document. Browser display full-screen mode is different again: it hides some browser interface so the page appears larger, but it does not automatically capture the page’s off-screen content.
| What you want | Use | Typical result |
|---|---|---|
| What is visible right now | Your operating system’s screenshot control | An image of the current screen |
| The whole webpage, including below the fold | A browser full-page capture | A long image of page content |
| One part of the page | A selected-area or element capture | An image of the chosen region or element |
| A readable or shareable document | Print or save as PDF | A paginated document, not a screenshot image |
For a full-page image, start with a browser capture feature. If you need selectable text, page numbers, or a document that is convenient to read and print, use the print workflow instead.
Capture a full webpage in Microsoft Edge
Edge’s Screenshot feature can capture a full webpage or a selected area. Its controls also let you mark up the capture before copying or saving it. Microsoft notes that the feature’s availability and functionality can vary by device type, market, and browser version.

Capture a full webpage in Firefox
Firefox provides webpage screenshots through Developer Tools. Its screenshot button may be hidden until you enable it in Developer Tools settings. The available Web Console helper also gives advanced users more control over the target and output.
Use the Developer Tools screenshot button
- Open the webpage and launch Developer Tools.
- Open Developer Tools settings. If the screenshot control is not visible, enable Take a screenshot of the entire page.
- Use the screenshot control to capture the page. The resulting image is saved to your Downloads folder.
If the control is still missing, confirm that the setting is enabled and that you are using the Developer Tools window for the relevant page. The feature’s exact placement may change between Firefox versions.
Use the Web Console for a full-page capture
Advanced users can enter the following helper in Firefox’s Web Console:

- INCREDIBLE CONTRAST: The VA panel produces brighter whites and deeper blacks. You get true-to-life images and more gradients with 16.7 million colors
- THE PERFECT VIEW: The 178/178 degree extra wide viewing angle prevents the shifting of colors when viewed from an offset angle, so you always get consistent colors
:screenshot --fullpage
The full-page option captures beyond the viewport. The helper also supports a selector to target an element and options for a delay, device-pixel ratio, clipboard output, and filename. Consult the help available in your current Firefox version for the accepted option syntax; do not assume flags from another release will work unchanged.
For an element capture, use the selector option to identify the element you want rather than capturing the whole document. This is useful when a long page contains a specific chart, card, or content region you need to share.
What about Chrome and Safari?
Chrome instructions often describe using a DevTools command called Capture full size screenshot, but exact current steps and availability are version-sensitive. Because a current primary Chrome procedure is not established here, check the DevTools interface in your installed version rather than relying on an assumed sequence.
Exact current Safari instructions for a full-page webpage image are likewise not established here. Do not confuse a Mac’s ordinary screenshot controls with a browser’s full-page capture: ordinary controls capture the screen, not necessarily the full webpage document.

Save the page as a PDF instead of an image
If you want a document for reading, printing, or sharing—not one tall image—use Edge’s print dialog. On Windows, press Ctrl+P; on Mac, press Command+P. The dialog supports page selection, paper size, scaling, and background graphics. Choose a PDF destination if one is available in your print options.
- Open the page in Edge and press the appropriate print shortcut for your operating system.
- Choose a PDF destination when available, then set the page range, paper size, scaling, and background graphics to suit the document.
- Preview the pages and save the PDF.
A PDF is paginated and may lay out content differently from the live webpage. Choose a screenshot when preserving the page’s visual appearance as one image matters more than document-style reading or printing.
Check the capture before you rely on it
Full-page capture is not a guarantee that every site will render exactly as it does during ordinary scrolling. Dynamic content, delayed images, or page-specific behavior can affect what appears in the result. Before sending, publishing, or archiving a capture, inspect it from top to bottom.
- Look for missing content: Check whether images, embedded items, or sections that load later are present.
- Look for duplication: Review transitions between portions of a long capture for repeated or misplaced content.
- Check the intended extent: Make sure you captured the whole page, not just the viewport or a selected area.
- Confirm the output type: A screenshot is an image; a print export is a document with pages.
If the page is still changing, wait until the content you need is visible before capturing. If a particular element is the goal, target or select it where your browser supports that option instead of relying on a long whole-page image.

Troubleshooting common capture problems
The shortcut does nothing
In Edge, try opening Screenshot from the page context menu or Edge Settings. Feature availability can vary by device, market, and browser version. In Firefox, use Developer Tools and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page if its screenshot button is not shown.
The result only shows the visible screen
Make sure you selected a full-page option rather than an ordinary operating-system screenshot, a selected region, or browser display full-screen mode. In Firefox’s Web Console helper, use :screenshot --fullpage.
The screenshot button is missing in Firefox
Open Developer Tools settings and enable Take a screenshot of the entire page. If the control remains unavailable, check the current Firefox version’s Developer Tools options.
Images or changing content are missing
Wait for the page and the content you need to appear before capturing, then inspect the saved result. Webpages can contain dynamic content, and official browser instructions do not guarantee perfect rendering of every site.

If you need to capture pages from code, ScreenshotNeo provides a website screenshot API and an MCP server for AI agents. One GET request can return a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or PDF. For a full-page image, use its full-page option; other available controls include viewport and device presets, element capture, wait conditions, custom CSS or JavaScript, and output format.
Here is a cURL request you can run after replacing the key and target URL. See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for the supported request parameters and output options.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
The request returns a screenshot; to request full-page output, add the documented full-page parameter. Use the documentation for the exact parameter names and for requesting PDF output. ScreenshotNeo accepts parameter names used by other screenshot APIs, which can make switching easier.

Cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets are removed before the shot by default, and each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing; response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed. An MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients.
The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card. Paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots; yearly billing gives two months free, and every feature is available on every plan. Sign up for ScreenshotNeo’s free plan to try 1,000 screenshots a month without a card.
