Use your browser’s full-page command instead of a normal screen capture. In Microsoft Edge, press Ctrl+Shift+S and choose Capture full page. In Firefox, open Firefox Screenshot and select Save full page. In Chrome, open DevTools, run Capture full size screenshot from the Command Menu, and save the resulting image. On phones, use Full Page, Scroll capture, or Capture more, depending on the device.
These commands render content below the visible screen into one image (or, on some mobile workflows, a PDF). They are different from an ordinary screenshot, which records only the current viewport.
What a full-page screenshot actually captures
A normal screenshot contains only the pixels currently visible in the browser window. A full-page screenshot creates a taller document by rendering the page below the viewport without requiring you to drag the scrollbar manually.
The result is useful for documenting a web page, preserving a receipt, reviewing a design, or sharing a long article. It is not guaranteed to include every item in a modern web app: lazy-loaded images, content rendered after a delay, and elements inside their own scrollable panels can require a different approach.

Microsoft Edge: capture the entire page
- Open the web page in Edge and let the initial content finish loading.
- Press Ctrl+Shift+S. You can also open Edge’s Screenshot/Web Capture command from the browser menu.
- Select Capture full page.
- Review the generated capture. Add markup if needed, then copy it or save it.
Edge’s capture can include content extending beyond the screen. If the page uses images that appear only after scrolling, wait for them to load before saving.
Firefox: use “Save full page”
- Open the page in Firefox.
- Start Firefox Screenshot from the page context menu or Firefox’s screenshot command.
- Choose Save full page in the screenshot controls.
- Download the resulting PNG.
Firefox also offers visible-area, selected-region, and element captures. If you are working in a developer-oriented workflow, Firefox Developer Tools includes a full-page screenshot control as well.
Chrome: use DevTools’ full-size command
Chrome’s documented built-in route is in DevTools rather than the ordinary toolbar.
- Open the target page.
- Open DevTools with F12, Ctrl+Shift+I (Windows/Linux), or Command+Option+I (macOS).
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl+Shift+P (Windows/Linux) or Command+Shift+P (macOS).
- Type Capture full size screenshot.
- Run that command. Chrome saves the image through your normal download location.
If you see only “Capture screenshot,” keep typing the complete command name. “Capture full size screenshot” is the option that renders the page beyond the current viewport.

iPhone and Safari: save a full-page capture
- Open the page in Safari.
- Take a screenshot using your iPhone’s hardware-button shortcut.
- Tap the screenshot preview before it disappears.
- Select Full Page when that tab is offered.
- Choose the save or share action shown by iOS.
Depending on the page and the iOS workflow, the full-page result may be saved or shared as a PDF rather than a very tall image. If the Full Page tab does not appear, that app or page does not provide the supported full-page capture option in that context.
Android: use Scroll capture or Capture more
- Open the page in your browser.
- Take a standard screenshot with your phone’s power-and-volume shortcut.
- Look for a control labeled Scroll capture, Capture more, or a similar expand icon.
- Tap it repeatedly or drag the crop handles until the required length is included.
- Save or share the result.
The exact label and controls vary by manufacturer and Android version. Some phones do not offer a long-screenshot control in every app.
When native full-page capture misses content
Lazy-loaded images
Many pages request images only when they approach the viewport. Let the page settle, or scroll through it once so the images are requested before capturing. A capture made too early can contain blank image regions.
Dynamic sections and animations
Dashboards, comments, and live feeds may change while the browser assembles the image. Pause the page where possible, wait for the final state, and capture again if sections are missing.

Nested scrolling panels
A browser full-page command normally follows the document’s main scroll. It may not expand a chat transcript, spreadsheet, modal, or other element with its own scrollbar. Use that application’s export function, capture the element separately, or use a tool that explicitly supports a CSS-selected element.
Very long pages
A single PNG can become unwieldy to open, share, or print. For reports and records, a PDF or a series of logical sections can be more practical than one extremely tall bitmap.

How to get a clean, complete capture
- Close cookie notices, newsletter prompts, and chat bubbles before capturing when they obscure content.
- Wait for fonts, images, and client-rendered sections to finish loading.
- Use the page’s desktop or mobile layout intentionally; changing the viewport can change what is rendered.
- For private pages, confirm that the account is authorized and avoid uploading sensitive screenshots to untrusted services.
- Check the saved file at its top, middle, and bottom. Missing sections are easier to fix before you share it.
Fallback: a full-page screenshot extension
If your browser lacks a native command or you need a particular PNG/PDF export, a dedicated extension such as GoFullPage can be a fallback. Review its current permissions, publisher, and availability before installing; extensions can read page content according to the permissions you grant them.
Troubleshooting common failures
The result contains only the visible screen
You probably used the ordinary screenshot shortcut or a visible-area command. Repeat the browser-specific full-page procedure: Edge’s Capture full page, Firefox’s Save full page, or Chrome’s DevTools Capture full size screenshot.

Images are blank or missing
Wait for loading and scroll through the page once. If images still fail, the site may require interaction, authentication, or JavaScript that the native tool does not reproduce reliably.
A chat or document panel is cut off
That panel is likely a nested scrolling container. Use its export/download command, capture the element separately, or use a capture service that supports an element selector.
The page changes between sections
Pause animations, dismiss live notifications, and try again. For frequently changing dashboards, capture a PDF or use an automated workflow with an explicit wait condition.
The file is too large to share
Save as PDF where the platform supports it, resize the image, or split the page into sections. A very tall PNG is convenient for inspection but not always efficient for email or printing.
