Chrome does not document a single full-page shortcut: open DevTools, use the Command Menu, then choose Capture a full size screenshot in Device Mode. Decide first whether you need the visible viewport or the entire page; an ordinary operating-system screenshot captures only what is on screen.
Choose the capture you need
A visible screenshot records the current browser window. A full-page screenshot includes content below the fold without manually stitching multiple images. Edge also supports a selected-area capture. Browser tools can therefore capture more than the desktop screenshot key built into your operating system.
The instructions below apply to desktop browser pages. Keyboard layouts, managed devices and browser releases can change labels or shortcuts. If a command is missing, use the browser’s current official help for your platform.
Firefox: the quickest full-page shortcut
Mozilla documents Firefox’s screenshot tool, last updated June 15, 2026. It opens from the page context menu or a keyboard shortcut.

- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS. Alternatively, right-click the page and select Take Screenshot.
- Select Save full page to capture the complete document, including content below the viewport. Select Save visible for only the current screen.
- Choose Download to save an image file, or Copy to place it on the clipboard for another application.
This is the shortest documented route in the browsers covered here when you want a full page and do not need developer tools.
Microsoft Edge: full page, selected area or markup
Edge’s Screenshot tool uses Ctrl + Shift + S. Microsoft describes both full-page and selected-area captures, with markup before copying or saving, on its Screenshot Tool in Microsoft Edge page.
- Open the target webpage.
- Press Ctrl + Shift + S.
- Choose Capture full page for the entire document, or select an area when you need only part of the page.
- If required, annotate the image with Edge’s markup controls, then copy or save it.
Microsoft notes that availability and functionality can vary by device type, market and browser version. If the shortcut does nothing or a label differs, open Edge’s current menu and look for the Screenshot tool rather than assuming the key combination is universal.
Chrome: capture a full page through DevTools
Chrome’s documented full-size workflow uses DevTools and Device Mode rather than one direct webpage shortcut. The Command Menu documentation identifies the platform-specific keys; the Device Mode documentation provides the full-size screenshot command.

- Open the webpage in Chrome.
- Open DevTools with F12 or your usual developer-tools command. You can also use Chrome’s menu: More tools → Developer tools.
- Turn on Device Mode by selecting the phone/tablet icon in the DevTools toolbar, or press Ctrl + Shift + M on Windows/Linux or Command + Shift + M on macOS.
- Open the DevTools Command Menu with Ctrl + Shift + P on Windows/Linux or Command + Shift + P on macOS.
- In Device Mode, open More options and choose Capture a full size screenshot. This includes content outside the visible viewport.
- For only the current viewport, choose Capture screenshot instead. Chrome saves the resulting image through the normal download flow.
If you cannot find the full-size command, make sure Device Mode is active and use the DevTools search field to look for “full size screenshot.” Chrome’s labels and layout can move between releases, but the distinction remains: the regular capture is viewport-sized, while the full-size command renders the page beyond the fold.

These are documented procedures, not a benchmark of speed or image quality. Firefox has the fewest documented steps for a full-page capture; Edge adds selection and annotation; Chrome’s full-page option requires DevTools.
When the shortcut does not work
The keys are intercepted or produce another action
On laptops, the function row may require the Fn key, and enterprise software can remap shortcuts. Click the webpage first, try the alternate platform combination, or use the browser’s context/menu command. Check whether another extension or accessibility utility owns the same keys.
You captured only what was visible
Use Firefox’s Save full page, Edge’s Capture full page, or Chrome’s Capture a full size screenshot. A normal desktop screenshot cannot include content that was never rendered outside the screen.

Chrome has no full-size option
Open DevTools before opening the Command Menu, activate Device Mode, then open More options. The full-size command is part of Device Mode’s screenshot controls, not the ordinary page context menu.
Firefox’s tool or Edge’s tool is unavailable
Browser features can be disabled by an administrator, unavailable in a particular market or changed in a newer release. Update the browser if your policy permits, inspect its current help, or use the alternate browser workflow above. Do not assume a shortcut from one browser applies to another.
The page is blank, incomplete or still loading
Wait for dynamic content, dismiss obstructing dialogs and confirm that the page works normally before capturing. Long pages can contain lazy-loaded images that appear only after scrolling; built-in browser tools may not load every deferred resource. For a reproducible capture, record the URL, browser version, viewport and whether the page required sign-in.
Privacy and sensitive data
Review the image before sharing it. Full-page captures can include account details, tokens displayed in the interface, hidden navigation sections and content far below the fold. Redact locally and avoid copying a screenshot containing passwords or personal information to a shared clipboard.

- One quick visible reference: use the browser’s visible or viewport capture.
- A complete article or invoice: choose full-page capture, then inspect the bottom and any lazy-loaded images.
- A marked-up bug report: Edge’s selected-area tool can capture and annotate the relevant region.
