For broad CAPTCHA coverage and mature task-based tooling, start with 2Captcha. For price-sensitive, AI-first token and image workflows, compare CapSolver and CapMonster Cloud. For human-powered handling of unusual visual or custom tasks, investigate Anti-Captcha. DeathByCaptcha remains worth considering when legacy clients, socket APIs, or hybrid OCR and human processing matter. If the real requirement is a complete browser, proxy, JavaScript, cookie, retry, and delivery stack, look at Bright Data Web Unlocker, Zyte API, or Oxylabs Web Scraper API instead of a standalone solver.
This comparison is for owned systems, authorized testing, accessibility workflows, lawful RPA, and data access that the target permits. A CAPTCHA solver should not be used to defeat access controls, evade a site’s restrictions, or violate terms of service. Review the providers’ 2Captcha terms, Anti-Captcha acceptable-use policy, CapSolver terms, and DeathByCaptcha terms before sending any data.
Quick recommendations
- Best general-purpose starting point: 2Captcha. Its current API v2 documentation covers a particularly broad range of image, token, coordinate, browser-challenge, and newer CAPTCHA families, with task polling, callbacks, SDKs, limits, and result-reporting tools.
- Best for published low prices on common automated tasks: CapSolver or CapMonster Cloud. Their current pricing is especially competitive for reCAPTCHA, Turnstile, and image recognition, but exact subtype support and target acceptance still need testing.
- Best for human-powered or custom visual work: Anti-Captcha. Its documented custom AntiGate and coordinate workflows can fit unusual authorized test tasks that rigid token APIs do not cover.
- Best for older integrations: DeathByCaptcha. Its socket and HTTP APIs and broad language-client support can reduce migration work, although many newer CAPTCHA integrations are marked beta.
- Best when CAPTCHA is only one part of a web-access problem: Bright Data Web Unlocker, Zyte API, or Oxylabs Web Scraper API. These products combine request delivery with proxies, rendering, session handling, retries, and CAPTCHA handling, so they should not be compared directly with a token API priced per 1,000 solves.
The recommendations above are use-case judgments based on current vendor documentation and published pricing checked on August 9, 2026. They are not independent hands-on rankings or universal success guarantees.
What a CAPTCHA solver API actually returns
The word solve is misleading because different CAPTCHA families require different outputs. An API may return one of the following:
#1 Best Overall
- Compatible with Nintendo Switch 2’s new GameChat mode
- Auto-Light Balance: RightLight boosts brightness by up to 50%, reducing shadows so you look your best—compared to previous-generation Logitech webcams (1)
- Privacy with a Slide: The integrated webcam cover makes it easy to get total, reliable privacy when you're not on a video call
- Built-In Mic: The built-in microphone lets others hear you clearly during video calls
- Easy Plug-And-Play: The Brio 101 works with most video calling platforms, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom and Google Meet—no hassle; it just works
- Image answer: text, a number, a mathematical result, or another transcription.
- Coordinates or geometry: click coordinates, bounding boxes, a rotation angle, or drag-and-drop instructions for a visual task.
- Verification token: a short-lived response string that the target application sends to its CAPTCHA provider for server-side validation.
- Browser or session state: cookies, browser-session information, or another session artifact when the challenge depends on more than a token. Anti-Captcha documents this type of authorized browser-session workflow through AntiGate; it should be evaluated as a session-integration feature, not treated as a general bypass recipe.
- Risk signal: reCAPTCHA v3 does not normally provide a conventional visual pass/fail answer. Google describes it as returning a score, after which the site owner decides what action to take. See Google’s reCAPTCHA overview.
A syntactically valid token is not proof that the target will accept the workflow. Acceptance can depend on the hostname, site key, action, score threshold, IP address, user agent, cookies, browser state, account reputation, token age, and whether the token has already been used.
Standalone solver APIs versus integrated web-unblocking APIs
Many comparison pages mix two different product categories. Choose between them based on what your application already controls.
| Category | What you provide | What the service typically provides | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standalone CAPTCHA solver | Your browser or HTTP client, page or task details, session, cookies, user agent, and often proxy configuration | A text answer, token, coordinates, or documented session artifact delivered through an asynchronous API | An owned application, authorized QA environment, accessibility workflow, or permitted automation system that already manages the page |
| Integrated web-unblocking API | A URL, request, extraction requirement, or authorized public-data task | Proxy infrastructure, JavaScript rendering, fingerprint and session handling, retries, CAPTCHA handling, and response delivery | Authorized public-web data collection where the hard part is reliable request delivery rather than obtaining one token |
2Captcha, Anti-Captcha, CapSolver, CapMonster Cloud, and DeathByCaptcha are standalone solver examples. Bright Data Web Unlocker, Zyte API, and Oxylabs Web Scraper API belong to the integrated category.

1. 2Captcha: strongest broad-coverage starting point
2Captcha is the most practical first investigation when one integration needs to cover several CAPTCHA families. Its current API v2 documentation uses JSON POST requests and documents createTask, getTaskResult, balance checks, callbacks, and incorrect-solution reporting.
Coverage and integration
The documentation lists reCAPTCHA v2, v3, and Enterprise; Arkose Labs; GeeTest; Turnstile; Amazon CAPTCHA; image, text, audio, coordinate, grid, rotate, draw-around, and related visual tasks. It also lists DataDome, Friendly Captcha, Prosopo, Altcha, Tencent, Yandex SmartCaptcha, and other newer families. The documentation records additions such as Drag & Drop, Alibaba, Imperva, Basilisk, Binance, Yidun, Hunt, and TSPD during 2026, so teams should verify the exact current task name rather than relying on an old feature list.
2Captcha also advertises official SDKs and examples for many common languages. Its API supports both polling and registered callbacks, which is useful when a task may take longer than a normal HTTP request.
Published pricing and operational details
The current pricing page lists image CAPTCHA at approximately $0.50–$1.00 per 1,000, reCAPTCHA v2 at $1.00–$2.99 per 1,000, Cloudflare Turnstile at $1.45 per 1,000, and reCAPTCHA v3 at approximately $1.45–$2.99 per 1,000. These are variable published prices, not a fixed quote for every task.
For polling, 2Captcha recommends waiting roughly one to two seconds after submission and then checking at approximately five-second intervals when a result is not ready. Its request-limit documentation warns that excessive or incorrectly timed requests can lead to temporary blocking. Use the documented webhook mechanism where possible.
Strengths and caveats
- Strengths: unusually broad current coverage, mature error documentation, callbacks, SDKs, and support for both conventional visual tasks and newer token or browser-oriented families.
- Processing-model caveat: the current API page describes an AI-first service with human fallback, while other 2Captcha pages describe the service as human-based. Attribute those descriptions to the vendor rather than assuming an independently verified architecture.
- Cost caveat: common token tasks can cost materially more than CapSolver or CapMonster Cloud.
- Acceptance caveat: the API returning a token does not guarantee that the authorized target accepts it.
Verdict: choose 2Captcha first when coverage and integration maturity matter more than the lowest advertised price.
2. Anti-Captcha: strongest human and custom-task option
Anti-Captcha is a good candidate for unusual visual layouts, coordinate challenges, and custom authorized browser tasks. The provider explicitly describes its service as human-powered and documents a long-running API built around createTask, getTaskResult, optional callbacks, balance and queue statistics, spending statistics, and incorrect-solution reporting. See the Anti-Captcha API documentation and createTask reference.
Supported task families
Documented task types include image-to-text, reCAPTCHA v2, v3, and Enterprise, Arkose or FunCaptcha, GeeTest, Cloudflare Turnstile, object coordinates, Prosopo, Friendly Captcha, Amazon WAF, Altcha, and custom AntiGate tasks. Proxyless and proxy-based task variants are available for some families, so confirm the exact task definition before designing the workflow.

- The adjustable universal clip lets you attach the camera securely to your screen or laptop, or fold the clip and set the webcam on a shelf. You’re always ready for your next video call.
Pricing and trade-offs
The current homepage lists images at approximately $0.50–$0.70 per 1,000, reCAPTCHA v2 at $0.95–$2.00, reCAPTCHA v3 at $1.00–$2.00, Enterprise reCAPTCHA at $5.00, GeeTest at $1.80, Arkose at $3.00, and Turnstile and several custom families at approximately $2.00 per 1,000. The vendor says daily volume discounts may apply; obtain the current quote for production planning.
- Human advantage: people can sometimes handle ambiguous image layouts or custom tasks more flexibly than a fixed recognition model.
- Privacy cost: submitted images and page context may be visible to third-party workers. Do not send authenticated, confidential, financial, health, or personal data without a documented legal and contractual basis.
- Latency cost: human queues are inherently variable and can be unsuitable for short-lived tokens or strict interactive SLAs.
- Marketing-claim caveat: uptime, speed, and accuracy figures on the homepage are vendor claims, not independent measurements.
Verdict: investigate Anti-Captcha when custom or human review is more important than the lowest latency and simplest data-handling model.
3. CapSolver: price-focused AI-first coverage
CapSolver is attractive when the workflow is dominated by supported token tasks and published price is a primary constraint. Its documentation separates general task APIs, selected direct getToken methods, callbacks, and recognition tasks. The current support list includes reCAPTCHA, AWS WAF, VisionEngine, GeeTest, MTCaptcha, DataDome, Turnstile, Cloudflare Challenge, and image recognition.
Published prices
| Task type | Published price per 1,000 |
|---|---|
| reCAPTCHA v2 | $0.80 |
| reCAPTCHA v2 Enterprise | $1.00 |
| reCAPTCHA v3 | $1.00 |
| reCAPTCHA v3 Enterprise | $3.00 |
| Cloudflare Turnstile or Cloudflare Challenge | $1.20 |
| GeeTest | $1.20 |
| AWS WAF | $2.00 |
| Image-to-text | $0.40 |
| DataDome slider | $2.50 |
| MTCaptcha | $3.00 |
These figures come from CapSolver’s pricing page, which was marked updated July 23, 2026. Confirm the price and billing conditions before committing because published rates can change.
Strengths and caveats
- Strengths: competitive listed prices, modern asynchronous and callback-oriented APIs, and broad support for contemporary token and anti-bot families.
- AI qualification: the provider positions itself as AI-first, but that does not establish a universal success rate across real target sites.
- Variant qualification: support for a brand does not mean support for every version, Enterprise mode, browser flow, or Cloudflare challenge. Match the documented task type exactly.
- Performance qualification: quick task completion is not the same as a high target acceptance rate. Test end to end.
Verdict: make CapSolver one of the first price and latency comparisons for supported token-based workflows, but do not select it from a price table alone.
4. CapMonster Cloud: low-cost automated cloud API
CapMonster Cloud is a cloud API for automated recognition and token tasks, not simply a self-hosted CAPTCHA engine. Confusion can arise because the wider CapMonster ecosystem includes other products, but the current service documented at docs.capmonster.cloud is accessed through the cloud endpoint https://api.capmonster.cloud.
Published prices
| Task type | Published price |
|---|---|
| reCAPTCHA v2 token | $0.60 per 1,000 |
| reCAPTCHA v3 | $0.90 per 1,000 |
| reCAPTCHA v2 Enterprise | $1.00 per 1,000 |
| reCAPTCHA v3 Enterprise | $1.50 per 1,000 |
| Cloudflare Turnstile or Cloudflare Bot Challenge | $1.30 per 1,000 |
| Amazon WAF | $1.40 per 1,000 |
| GeeTest | $1.20 per 1,000 |
| Yidun | $1.00 per 1,000 |
| Text CAPTCHA | $0.30 per 1,000 |
The vendor lists separate image-recognition prices for some task types and advertises included proxies for applicable tasks. Confirm whether that applies to your exact task definition.
API behavior
The standard lifecycle is to submit a JSON task, receive a task ID, wait, call getTaskResult, and use the result. CapMonster’s documentation says results commonly arrive in approximately 300 milliseconds to six seconds, depending on load. That is a vendor-documented estimate, not a guaranteed percentile or independent benchmark. Official SDKs are listed for C#, Python, JavaScript, Go, and PHP.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →For image-to-text tasks, the confidence-threshold documentation describes a control that affects whether low-confidence results are returned and charged. It should not be interpreted as a universal accuracy guarantee for token-based or behavioral challenges.
- Strengths: very competitive published rates, broad support, advertised proxy inclusion for many tasks, and a useful documented confidence option for image recognition.
- Caveats: the vendor’s published accuracy figures are not independently verified, cloud delivery creates a data-processing dependency, and task-specific proxy and session behavior must be confirmed.
Verdict: a strong low-cost candidate for automated tasks that match its documented support, especially when your testing shows acceptable target acceptance rather than merely fast result delivery.
5. DeathByCaptcha: legacy compatibility and hybrid processing
DeathByCaptcha is worth considering when an existing system depends on socket APIs, older client libraries, or a hybrid OCR and human workflow. Its API documentation covers socket and HTTP interfaces and lists clients or integrations for .NET, C, C++, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, Node.js, Go, command line, and AutoIt.
Coverage and pricing
Current documented capabilities include normal image CAPTCHA, reCAPTCHA v2, v3, Invisible, and Enterprise token APIs, GeeTest, Turnstile, audio CAPTCHA, Lemin, Capy Puzzle, Amazon WAF, Friendly Captcha, DataDome, Tencent, CyberSiARA, MTCaptcha, Cutcaptcha, and other types. Many of the newer entries are explicitly marked beta; treat them as integration candidates until your own authorized test confirms production behavior.

The current order page lists normal CAPTCHA at approximately $0.99–$2.00 per 1,000, reCAPTCHA v2/v3/Invisible at $2.89 per 1,000, and audio CAPTCHA at $0.59 per 1,000. It reports average times of about four seconds for normal CAPTCHA, 18 seconds for reCAPTCHA v2/v3, and 13 seconds for other types. These are published averages, not an independent latency study, and actual results vary with queue, challenge, proxy mode, and geography.
The provider prominently describes pay-for-correct-solve terms on its pricing material. Its terms also state that the service is intended for research projects and prohibit illegal use, making procurement and compliance review essential.
Verdict: choose DeathByCaptcha when compatibility and an established client ecosystem outweigh the higher listed price or beta status of newer integrations.
Integrated web-unblocking alternatives
If your application needs a reliable browser or HTTP session rather than one CAPTCHA response, manually combining a solver with proxies, JavaScript rendering, cookie storage, fingerprint consistency, retries, and extraction may create more failure points than it removes.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Bright Data Web Unlocker: advertises automated CAPTCHA handling, proxy management, rendering, retries, and pay-as-you-go pricing of approximately $1.50 per 1,000 requests on its pricing page. - Zyte API: advertises automatic handling of reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha, and other challenge types. Pricing varies by website tier and whether the request uses browser rendering. See Zyte pricing.
- Oxylabs Web Scraper API: includes CAPTCHA handling and prices according to successful result, rendering, target, and plan. See the Web Scraper API pricing page.
These services are not drop-in replacements for a token API. They may be the better architectural choice for permitted public-data collection, but compare total cost per accepted or successfully delivered response—not only the solver’s nominal token price.
How to choose a CAPTCHA Solver API
1. Identify the exact CAPTCHA variant
Do not stop at a logo or generic support list. Record the provider and version, whether it is visible or invisible, the public site key or equivalent identifier, the page URL, the expected output, and whether the workflow is browser-based.
Important distinctions include:
- reCAPTCHA v2 checkbox, invisible, callback, or Enterprise;
- reCAPTCHA v3 score and action requirements;
- Turnstile widget versus a broader Cloudflare Challenge;
- GeeTest v3 versus GeeTest v4;
- Arkose or FunCaptcha variant;
- AWS WAF, DataDome, Imperva, or other browser-integrity challenge;
- image, audio, coordinate, rotate, slider, drag-and-drop, or custom visual task.
Record the provider’s exact task name, required parameters, proxy mode, and whether the integration is production-ready or beta.
2. Measure acceptance, not just a returned result
The useful metric is the number of completed, accepted authorized workflows divided by all submitted workflows. Track these separately:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
- task-creation success rate;
- result-delivery rate;
- target acceptance rate;
- end-to-end business-workflow completion rate;
- retry count and reason;
- p50 and p95 latency;
- cost per accepted workflow;
- failure rate by CAPTCHA subtype, browser mode, proxy, geography, and time window.
A provider can return a result that is internally marked correct while the target rejects it because the token is expired, tied to a different hostname or action, associated with a different session or IP, or insufficient for the target’s broader risk decision.
3. Plan around token lifetime and single-use behavior
Short-lived tokens make queue time and polling design important:
- Google says reCAPTCHA response tokens expire after two minutes and can be verified only once. See Google’s verification documentation.
- Cloudflare says Turnstile tokens expire after 300 seconds and are single-use. See Cloudflare’s server-side validation documentation.
Submit the result immediately when the authorized workflow is ready. Do not place solved tokens in a long queue, retry a duplicate token, or assume a token can be replayed after a failed submission.
4. Check proxy and session compatibility
Ask each provider whether the task is proxyless, accepts your proxy, supplies its own proxy, or requires the solving and submitting network context to match. Also check support for cookies, user-agent values, sticky sessions, geographic routing, and returned browser state.
Recommended Free Tools
A proxy is not automatically required or automatically helpful. The correct arrangement depends on the CAPTCHA family and whether the target binds the result to a browser, session, IP, or other context.

5. Understand human versus automated processing
| Model | Advantages | Risks and questions |
|---|---|---|
| Automated or AI-first | Potentially low latency, scalable throughput, and less routine human access to submitted images | May fail on novel or ambiguous visual and behavioral challenges; vendor accuracy claims require your own acceptance testing |
| Human-powered | Can handle unusual or ambiguous visual tasks and custom instructions | Queue-dependent latency, privacy exposure, labor and data-handling considerations, and less predictable throughput |
| Hybrid | Can use automation for routine work and human review for difficult tasks | Processing architecture, privacy behavior, escalation rules, and pricing may be less transparent |
Do not infer a provider’s exact architecture from a marketing label. For example, 2Captcha’s current pages describe its model inconsistently, while Anti-Captcha explicitly describes itself as human-powered.
6. Compare billing units correctly
Providers may charge per successful solve, token, image, request, rendered browser request, gigabyte, or monthly commitment. Also check volume discounts, failed-task refunds, proxy charges, minimum spend, and enterprise support or SLA fees.
A useful planning formula is:
effective cost per accepted workflow = (solver charges + proxy/browser charges + retry charges) / accepted workflows
Do not compare CapSolver’s price per 1,000 tokens directly with an unblocking service’s price per successful response or rendered request.
7. Evaluate API operations
Check for JSON versus form-encoded requests, asynchronous task IDs, callback support, polling limits, idempotency, SDK freshness, status information, error taxonomy, rate limits, balance alerts, test mode, incorrect-result reporting, and account or key-management controls.
8. Review privacy and compliance before sending payloads
Determine whether the provider stores images, page URLs, cookies, user-agent strings, tokens, or browser state; whether human workers can view content; how long data is retained; where it is processed; whether a data-processing agreement and subprocessor list are available; whether data is used for model training; and whether authenticated or sensitive pages are prohibited.
For example, CapMonster’s privacy policy says user personal data is not used to train its AI models. That remains a vendor policy statement that procurement teams should verify contractually and against the exact data being submitted.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Safe evaluation procedure for an authorized system
For QA and CI/CD, a commercial solver is often unnecessary. The safest evaluation path is:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →- Identify the challenge. Record the exact provider, version, mode, public site key or equivalent, page, browser requirement, proxy or session dependency, and expected result type.
- Use official test credentials in staging. Keep production credentials and production challenge traffic out of automated tests whenever possible.
- Keep solver credentials server-side. Store keys in a secret manager or environment variable, use HTTPS, restrict callback endpoints, and never expose a provider key in browser JavaScript, a mobile client, a public repository, or page-visible configuration.
- Run bounded asynchronous tasks. Create a task, wait according to provider guidance, use a webhook or bounded polling, validate the result shape, submit promptly, record the accepted or rejected outcome, and report incorrect results where supported.
- Test failure paths. Exercise invalid keys, zero balance, unsupported tasks, malformed URLs, unavailable solver capacity, timeout, unsolvable challenges, invalid proxies, expired tokens, duplicate tokens, webhook failure, provider outage, and target-side rejection.
- Stop safely. Do not use infinite retries. Route a failed authorized workflow to a controlled failure state or human review.
Use official test keys for automated testing
Official test credentials are cheaper, safer, and more reproducible than sending production-like challenges to a human or AI solver:
- Google provides reCAPTCHA v2 test keys that always pass verification. For v3, Google recommends a separate testing key because scores depend on real traffic.
- Cloudflare provides Turnstile test sitekeys and secret keys for always-pass, always-fail, and duplicate-token scenarios.
- hCaptcha provides test key pairs for pass, enterprise safe-end-user, and bot-detected scenarios.
These keys are for testing only and must never be deployed as production credentials.
Use an asynchronous lifecycle
The common provider pattern is:
create task → receive task ID → wait → webhook or bounded polling → validate result → submit immediately → record acceptance
Representative documented task endpoints include:
- 2Captcha:
POST https://api.2captcha.com/createTaskandPOST https://api.2captcha.com/getTaskResult - Anti-Captcha:
POST https://api.anti-captcha.com/createTaskandPOST https://api.anti-captcha.com/getTaskResult - CapMonster Cloud:
POST https://api.capmonster.cloud/createTaskandPOST https://api.capmonster.cloud/getTaskResult
Use the providers’ current quick-start documentation for task schemas and authorized test environments: 2Captcha quick start, Anti-Captcha createTask, and CapMonster Cloud getting started. This article intentionally does not provide a recipe for applying a solver to an unrelated third-party site.
Common failure modes
The provider says solved, but the site rejects the result
Check token age, duplicate use, hostname, site key, action, score threshold, IP and user-agent consistency, cookies, browser state, page path, account reputation, and additional target-side controls. Google and Cloudflare explicitly document expiration and single-use restrictions for their tokens.
Polling causes account or IP blocking
Use callbacks where available and follow the provider’s documented intervals and request limits. 2Captcha specifically warns that aggressive or incorrectly timed polling can cause temporary blocking. Do not respond to a polling problem by creating an uncontrolled retry loop.

The CAPTCHA is actually a browser-risk system
Turnstile, reCAPTCHA v3, browser-integrity checks, and Cloudflare Challenge may use JavaScript, cookies, browser-environment signals, proof-of-work, behavioral signals, or reputation analysis rather than a simple visual puzzle. Cloudflare describes Turnstile as using non-interactive JavaScript challenges and browser-environment signals in its overview. A standalone token API may therefore be the wrong category.
The provider supports the brand but not the variant
Ask specifically about version, Enterprise status, proxyless versus proxy mode, browser versus HTTP workflow, callback or score parameters, challenge subtype, region, language, and production versus beta status. A generic logo grid is not an integration contract.
The CAPTCHA appears in production but not staging
This may be expected. Official test credentials deliberately produce predictable outcomes and do not reproduce production risk scoring. Google notes that reCAPTCHA v3 scores can be inaccurate in test environments because they rely on real traffic.

Marketing numbers are not benchmarks
Accuracy and speed tables often combine vendor claims, third-party tests, and incompatible definitions. Ocilar’s comparison promotes Ocilar as a winner but provides limited methodological detail. AIMultiple’s comparison tested integrated web-unblocking products against a specific Cloudflare Under Attack endpoint using 100 requests per provider; that is not a broad benchmark of standalone token APIs. 2Captcha’s comparison is vendor-sponsored and promotes 2Captcha.
Label every result as one of three things: a vendor-reported figure, a defined third-party test, or an independently measured result. Do not turn a vendor’s “99% accuracy” or “99.99% uptime” claim into an objective industry fact.
Accuracy needs a definition
At minimum, distinguish between a result received, a provider-marked correct result, a target-accepted token, and a completed business workflow. The final metric should normally be:
accepted target workflows / total submitted workflows
For a more cautious technical perspective on CAPTCHA attack economics and real-world solver limitations, consult the independent academic context rather than relying solely on vendor comparison tables.

Security and compliance checklist
- Confirm that you own the system or have explicit permission to automate it.
- Review the target’s terms, privacy requirements, accessibility obligations, and applicable law.
- Keep API keys in a server-side secret manager and rotate them.
- Use HTTPS for task submission and callback delivery.
- Authenticate, authorize, deduplicate, and rate-limit webhook requests.
- Never log full CAPTCHA tokens, cookies, authenticated URLs, or sensitive page content.
- Minimize payloads: submit only the data required for the authorized task.
- Determine whether human workers can view submitted content.
- Review retention, geographic processing, subprocessors, model-training policy, and data-processing agreements.
- Use official test keys or a staging bypass for QA rather than production CAPTCHA traffic.
- Set balance alerts, request limits, timeout budgets, and an outage fallback.
- Maintain audit records showing authorization, provider terms, task types, acceptance rates, refunds, and incidents.
Decision tree
Do you own or have explicit permission to automate the target? ├─ No → Do not use a solver API. └─ Yes → Is this only QA or CI testing? ├─ Yes → Use official test keys or a staging bypass. └─ No → Do you need only a token, image answer, or coordinates? ├─ Yes → Compare 2Captcha, CapSolver, CapMonster Cloud, Anti-Captcha, and DeathByCaptcha. └─ No → Do you need browser state, proxies, rendering, retries, and delivery? ├─ Yes → Evaluate Bright Data, Zyte, or Oxylabs. └─ No → Recheck the target’s official API, accessibility path, or a custom authorized integration.
Alternatives that may be better than a solver API
- Official test credentials: the best option for deterministic automated tests.
- Staging configuration: allowlist test traffic or disable CAPTCHA in a non-production environment under the system owner’s control.
- Target-owner APIs: use an authenticated API or export function instead of automating a CAPTCHA-protected interface.
- Accessibility paths: provide the target’s documented accessible verification method or a human-assisted path, with user consent and appropriate privacy controls.
- Manual review: for a low-volume authorized workflow, a controlled human-review process may be simpler and safer than introducing a third-party solver.
- Integrated web-access infrastructure: for permitted public-data collection, use an unblocking and rendering service when the actual problem is reliable session delivery.
Final buying checklist
- Write down the exact CAPTCHA subtype and expected output.
- Remove CAPTCHA from the test plan if official test keys or a staging bypass solve the QA requirement.
- Obtain written confirmation of authorization and review provider and target terms.
- Run a small, controlled test using non-sensitive data.
- Measure p50 and p95 latency, result delivery, target acceptance, retries, and cost per accepted workflow.
- Test token expiry, duplicate use, wrong parameters, insufficient balance, webhook failure, and provider outage.
- Confirm proxy, cookie, user-agent, browser, session, and regional requirements.
- Review human access, retention, subprocessors, training policy, and contractual privacy controls.
- Choose the cheapest provider that meets the end-to-end acceptance and compliance requirements—not the cheapest nominal solve rate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which CAPTCHA Solver API is best overall?
There is no objective overall winner. 2Captcha is the strongest general-purpose starting point for broad documented coverage and mature API tooling. CapSolver and CapMonster Cloud are compelling price-focused alternatives, Anti-Captcha suits human or custom visual work, and DeathByCaptcha is useful for legacy integrations.
Are CAPTCHA Solver APIs legal?
Lawfulness depends on authorization, jurisdiction, privacy obligations, the target’s terms, and the activity. Use them only for owned systems, authorized testing, accessibility, lawful RPA, or data access the target permits. Do not treat a provider’s availability as permission to bypass another party’s controls.
Why does a returned CAPTCHA token sometimes fail?
Tokens may be expired, single-use, tied to the wrong hostname or action, associated with a different IP or browser session, below a score threshold, or insufficient for a broader browser-risk decision. A provider result is not the same as target acceptance.
Should a QA team use a solver API in CI?
Usually not. Use the official reCAPTCHA, Turnstile, or hCaptcha test keys, or disable or allowlist CAPTCHA in an authorized staging environment. Test keys are more deterministic, cheaper, and safer than sending challenge data to a third party.
Do I need a standalone solver or a web-unblocking API?
Use a standalone solver when your application already controls the browser or HTTP session and needs a token, answer, or coordinates. Use an integrated web-unblocking API when you also need proxies, JavaScript rendering, cookies, browser state, retries, and response delivery.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: start with 2Captcha for broad coverage, compare CapSolver or CapMonster Cloud when cost matters, choose Anti-Captcha for human or custom visual tasks, and consider DeathByCaptcha for legacy clients. If your application needs a complete authorized browser and web-access stack, evaluate Bright Data, Zyte, or Oxylabs instead. In every case, select by exact CAPTCHA subtype and accepted end-to-end workflows, not by a generic support logo or the lowest advertised price.
