Microsoft Teams Calendar can disappear for three very different reasons: the Calendar app is missing from Teams, the app opens but shows no meetings, or a meeting created in Outlook does not contain Teams details. The fix depends on which symptom you have.

Start by opening Teams > Calendar. If Calendar is absent from the left rail, follow the admin and app-policy checks below. If Calendar opens but is empty or displays Sorry, we couldn’t get your meeting details, check the Exchange connection and Teams coexistence settings. If only the Teams button is missing in Outlook, use the Outlook-specific section.

1. Check whether the Calendar app is hidden

In the Teams desktop or web app, select Apps on the left and search for Calendar. If it appears, open it and pin it:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Right-click Calendar in the app list.
  2. Select Pin.

If Calendar cannot be found, your organization may have removed it from the Teams app setup policy. A Teams administrator can check:

  1. Open the Teams admin center.
  2. Go to Users > Manage users.
  3. Select the affected user and choose View policies.
  4. Open the assigned App setup policy.
  5. Confirm that the Calendar app is included. Its app ID is ef56c0de-36fc-4ef8-b417-3d82ba9d073c.

The administrator should also check whether the user is in a Teams mode that suppresses Calendar. Go to the user’s assigned coexistence policy and confirm it is not:

  • Skype for Business only
  • Skype for Business with Teams collaboration

If the user inherits the organization-wide setting, check Teams admin center > Org-wide settings > Teams upgrade as well.

2. Calendar opens but meetings are missing

The Teams Calendar app reads the user’s Exchange mailbox. That mailbox can be in Exchange Online or in an on-premises Exchange hybrid deployment, but Teams must be able to access it through Exchange Web Services (EWS).

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

First check the simple causes:

  • Confirm that Teams and Outlook are signed in with the same work or school account.
  • In Outlook on the web, open Calendar and check whether the meeting exists there.
  • Check the date range and calendar view in Teams; an event may be outside the currently displayed period.
  • Sign out of Teams, quit it completely, reopen it, and sign in again.
  • Test both Teams on the web and the desktop client. If only one fails, reset or update that client rather than changing mailbox settings.

Check EWS access

An Exchange administrator can inspect the mailbox with Exchange Online PowerShell:

Get-CasMailbox <UserPrincipalName> | Select-Object Ews*

EwsEnabled must be True or Null. A value of False blocks Teams from reading the calendar.

If the organization uses an EWS allow list, it must permit the Teams clients. An empty allow list combined with EnforceAllowList blocks access. The relevant organization-level command is:

Set-OrganizationConfig -EwsApplicationAccessPolicy EnforceAllowList -EwsAllowList @{Add="MicrosoftNinja/*","*Teams/*","SkypeSpaces/*"}

The equivalent mailbox-level command is:

Set-CASMailbox <UserPrincipalName> -EwsApplicationAccessPolicy EnforceAllowList -EwsAllowList @{Add="MicrosoftNinja/*","*Teams/*","SkypeSpaces/*"}

Do not change these settings without confirming your organization’s Exchange policy. Microsoft also provides a Teams Calendar App connectivity test through the Remote Connectivity Analyzer. Run it while signed in as the affected user.

3. A channel calendar is not the same as your Teams Calendar

A channel calendar is a filtered view of the Microsoft 365 group calendar associated with one team. It is not a complete calendar of every person in the team, and it is separate from the personal Calendar app.

To add one to a standard channel:

  1. Open Teams and select the team and channel.
  2. Select + or Add a tab.
  3. Choose Apps, then search for Channel calendar.
  4. Enter a name and select Save.

Channel calendars are not available in private channels.

Why channel-calendar meetings do not appear in personal calendars

Channel members do not automatically receive an individual invitation. To put the event in someone’s personal calendar, open the event and select Add to calendar. Alternatively, add the person individually when creating the meeting.

Following the team’s associated Microsoft 365 group in Outlook is also relevant for receiving channel-calendar invitations. If the group does not appear in Outlook, its subscription settings cannot be changed. Channel notifications must be enabled separately if members need a notification that an event was created.

4. Outlook has no Teams Meeting button

This problem applies mainly to classic Outlook. New Outlook for Windows does not use the old Teams COM add-in; Teams meeting scheduling is built into the new event form.

New Outlook or Outlook on the web

  1. Open Outlook > Calendar.
  2. Select New event.
  3. Turn on the Teams meeting toggle beside the title.
  4. Enter the subject, time, and attendees.
  5. Select Send.

Teams join details are added after you send the event. Selecting Save as draft does not add the Teams join details.

Classic Outlook for Windows

  1. On the Home tab, select the arrow beside New Email.
  2. Select Meeting.
  3. On the Meeting tab, select the arrow beside Teams Meeting.
  4. Select Schedule meeting.
  5. Add the attendees and meeting details, then select Send.

This feature requires a supported Microsoft 365 Business Exchange account and the Teams desktop client. It does not provide Teams-meeting scheduling for personal, POP, or IMAP accounts such as Outlook.com, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, or iCloud.

5. Restore the Teams add-in in classic Outlook

Do not install the classic add-in in new Outlook. In classic Outlook, check whether it has been disabled:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  1. Open Outlook and select File > Options > Add-ins.
  2. Look for Microsoft Teams Meeting Add-in for Microsoft Office.
  3. If it is under Disabled Application Add-ins, choose COM Add-ins in the Manage box.
  4. Select Go, tick the Teams add-in, and select OK.
  5. Sign out of Teams, restart Teams, then close and restart Outlook.

If the add-in is still missing, confirm that both Teams and classic Outlook are fully updated and that Outlook is not running as administrator while Teams is running normally. Microsoft’s classic Teams add-in troubleshooter can also be run on Windows 10 or later, on the same computer as classic Outlook.

Re-register the add-in loader

This is an administrator-level repair for classic Outlook. Close both Outlook and Teams first. In File Explorer, open:

%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin

Open the highest-numbered version folder, such as 1.0.23334.11. From an elevated Command Prompt, run the command matching your Office installation—not necessarily your Windows installation.

For 64-bit Office:

%SystemRoot%System32regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin1.0.23334.11x64Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"

For 32-bit Office:

%SystemRoot%SysWOW64regsvr32.exe /n /i:user "%LocalAppData%MicrosoftTeamsMeetingAddin1.0.23334.11x86Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll"

Replace the example version with the folder actually installed. Then start Teams, sign out and back in, and restart Outlook.

6. Check the add-in registry entry

For classic Outlook only, open RegEdit.exe and go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftOfficeOutlookAddinsTeamsAddin.FastConnect

The LoadBehavior value should be 3. If it has another value, set it to 3 and restart Outlook.

Some organizations block Outlook add-ins with Group Policy or Cloud Policy. Check these locations with your administrator:

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftOffice16.0OutlookSecurity
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREPoliciesMicrosoftCloudOffice16.0OutlookSecurity

Cloud Policy settings take precedence over equivalent Group Policy settings on Windows. If a Configure trusted add-ins policy is enabled, the current Microsoft.Teams.AddinLoader.dll must be trusted with the correct hash. Teams updates the DLL, so a previously trusted hash can become outdated.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

7. New Teams migration can remove the Outlook add-in

After classic Teams is removed, a migration failure can leave the Teams Meeting add-in absent from classic Outlook. Reinstalling classic Teams is not necessarily the fix.

  1. Open Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps.
  2. Search for Teams Meeting Add-in and note its version.
  3. Use Microsoft’s current migration repair procedure and select the script appropriate to the installed version: UninstallOldTMA.ps1 for no detected version or a version beginning with 1.23; UninstallTMA.ps1 for other versions.
  4. Start the new Teams client and wait for Teams Meeting Add-in to reappear under Installed apps.
  5. Restart Outlook.

PowerShell script execution may be restricted by your organization. Ask IT to perform this repair if the scripts are blocked.

8. Delegate-calendar problems

If a delegate creates a Teams meeting on behalf of someone else, the delegator’s mailbox must be discoverable. When the delegator’s mailbox is hidden from the Global Address List, the meeting can be created without the meeting URL, meeting ID, passcode, or dial-in numbers.

An Exchange Online administrator can unhide the mailbox with:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Set-Mailbox -Identity <delegator’s email address> -HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled $false

After confirming that the mailbox is visible in the GAL, restart Outlook and create a new meeting request. Existing requests may still lack the missing details.

Delegates working with an on-premises Exchange delegator can also receive a permissions error stating that they do not have permission to schedule meetings for the account. That usually requires an Exchange delegation and hybrid-configuration review rather than an Outlook add-in reinstall.

9. Recurring meetings that show incomplete attendees

For recurring meetings, invitees added only to one occurrence may not appear correctly in Teams meeting-option people lists. Add them to the entire meeting series instead.

When attendees are added in Outlook, select Send Update. The web Meeting options page may not display the additional attendees until the update has been sent.

FAQ

Why is Calendar missing from Microsoft Teams?

It may be unpinned, removed by the Teams app setup policy, or suppressed by a Skype for Business-only coexistence mode. Search for Calendar under Apps first; if it is unavailable, a Teams administrator must check the user’s policy.

Why does Teams Calendar show no Outlook meetings?

Teams reads the calendar from the user’s Exchange mailbox. Check that the meeting exists in Outlook on the web, that Teams and Outlook use the same work account, and that EWS is enabled and not blocked by an Exchange allow list.

How do I add Teams to a meeting in new Outlook?

Open Outlook Calendar, select New event, turn on the Teams meeting toggle, add the details, and select Send. New Outlook uses native Teams functionality and does not support the classic Teams COM add-in.

Can I use the Teams Outlook add-in with Gmail or a personal Outlook account?

No. Microsoft supports scheduling Teams meetings from Outlook with Microsoft 365 Business Exchange accounts. Personal Outlook.com, Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo, iCloud, POP, and IMAP accounts are not supported for this workflow.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Why is a channel calendar event not in my personal calendar?

A channel calendar is separate from the personal Calendar app, and channel members do not automatically receive individual invitations. Open the event and select Add to calendar, or have the organizer add you individually.

The Bottom Line

Identify the failing layer before reinstalling anything: Teams app policy if Calendar is absent, Exchange/EWS if Calendar cannot load meetings, and the Outlook workflow or classic add-in if only the Teams meeting button is missing. New Outlook needs no COM add-in; classic Outlook may need the add-in enabled, re-registered, or repaired by an administrator.
