Update for August 7, 2026: A static “YIFY / YTS Proxy List 2024” cannot be treated as a current or verified list. Domains associated with YTS-style services change, disappear, redirect, or get copied, and unofficial proxy directories cannot prove that a domain is operated by the original service—or that it is safe.
This guide explains what happened to YIFY/YTS, why later domains should not automatically be called official, how to assess claims about proxy lists, and what risks to avoid. It does not publish active piracy links.
What happened to the original YIFY and YTS?
The original YIFY release group and its official YTS website shut down permanently on October 30, 2015, following legal pressure from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA). No later release should be presented as a new release from the original YIFY operation without independently verifiable evidence.
The MPAA later confirmed coordinated legal action against YTS/YIFY and described the service as distributing unauthorized copies of movies and television programs. TorrentFreak’s report on the shutdown records the 2015 closure, while its later report covers the MPAA’s confirmation.

Names such as YTS, YIFY, YTS.AG, and YTS.MX have subsequently been used by later operators, successors, or imitators. That naming similarity is not proof that these services are the original company or release group.
Why there is no verified YTS proxy list
Proxy-list websites are usually self-published. They may label a domain “official,” “safe,” or “working,” but those labels do not authenticate ownership. A page loading successfully only demonstrates that a server responded at that moment; it does not establish who controls it, whether the content is authorized, or whether downloads are safe.
Current search results also mix historical lists with newly created pages, copied articles, and domains that work only in certain countries or through particular internet providers. A list published in 2024 cannot verify availability in August 2026.

The U.S. Trade Representative’s 2024 Review of Notorious Markets identified YTS.MX, also known as YIFY, as a peer-to-peer movie-torrent site and noted reports that it changed domains to avoid enforcement. That report is useful historical and enforcement context, but it does not prove that any particular domain is operational or genuine in 2026.
Claims you should not trust automatically

Risks behind unofficial mirrors and proxy pages
YTS-branded pages are attractive targets for copycats because visitors already expect movie listings and download buttons. Common failure modes include:
- Malvertising: deceptive download buttons, forced redirects, fake browser alerts, and notification prompts.
- Phishing: pages requesting email addresses, passwords, payment details, or “account verification.”
- Fake applications and extensions: downloads that request unnecessary permissions or install unwanted software.
- Malicious files: movie files, archives, installers, or subtitle packages that contain malware or lead to additional downloads.
- Domain impersonation: a similar-looking address reusing YIFY or YTS branding while being controlled by an unrelated operator.
- Incomplete mirrors: a homepage may load while search, file retrieval, subtitles, magnet links, or redirects fail.
The Federal Trade Commission warns that illegal streaming apps and add-ons can expose banking credentials, payment-card information, passwords, and personal data. The FBI has also warned that pirated software and peer-to-peer files may contain keyloggers, data-stealing malware, or code that corrupts files.

What to do if you already visited a suspicious mirror
- Do not install anything offered by a pop-up, “codec” prompt, browser notification, or verification page.
- Close the tab rather than clicking repeated cancel buttons. If it will not close, use the browser’s task or application controls.
- Remove notification permission: in Chrome, open
chrome://settings/content/notifications; in Edge, openedge://settings/content/notifications. Remove unfamiliar sites under the allowed list. - Check installed software and extensions. Uninstall items you do not recognize, especially anything added immediately after the visit.
- Run a security scan with your operating system’s current security tools and install pending browser and OS updates.
- Change passwords from a clean device if you entered credentials. Prioritize email, banking, shopping, and password-manager accounts, and enable multifactor authentication.
- Contact your bank or card provider promptly if you entered payment information or notice an unfamiliar transaction.
Copyright and proxy access
A proxy, mirror, alternate domain, or VPN changes how a person reaches a website. It does not grant permission to reproduce, download, distribute, or share copyrighted movies.
The U.S. Copyright Office explains that copyright owners generally control reproduction and distribution of movies and other audiovisual works. Its material on peer-to-peer networks also states that copying or distributing copyrighted works without permission can constitute infringement. The exact legal position depends on the content, authorization, conduct, and jurisdiction, so readers should consult local law for advice applicable to them.

- digital rental or purchase stores;
- local library lending and services such as those provided through participating libraries;
- official broadcaster or studio platforms;
- public-domain archives and works released under licenses that permit downloading or redistribution.
BitTorrent itself can be used legally—for example, to distribute Linux installation images or openly licensed files—but the permission for the specific content is what matters.

Is the original YIFY website still online?

Can you provide a working YIFY/YTS proxy list for 2026?
No reliable, authoritative list can be verified. Domains change quickly, availability varies by region, and proxy directories are self-published. Publishing a domain as official, safe, or working worldwide would be misleading.
Does a VPN make a YTS proxy safe or legal?
No. A VPN may change network routing, but it does not authenticate a website, remove malware, prevent phishing, or authorize copying and distributing copyrighted movies.
Is BitTorrent illegal?
