Microsoft’s current published AMD compatibility table for Windows 11 is the Windows 11 version 25H2 list, updated October 30, 2025. It groups processors by family rather than listing every consumer model. Windows 11 version 26H1 appears in Microsoft’s processor index, but no AMD processor-table link is currently provided for it.
Use the family list below as a reference, not as the only test for an existing PC. Microsoft says these tables primarily describe processors that OEMs may use in new Windows devices, including custom images. For an individual computer, verify the complete Windows 11 requirements with PC Health Check.

The Exception column is part of Microsoft’s compatibility specification. Do not treat a family name as an automatic approval when an exception is shown. For example, “Ryzen 3000 Series” does not mean that every Ryzen 3000 processor is covered: the table specifically identifies the G and GE variants as an exception.

How to identify your AMD processor
Before comparing your computer with the table, find the exact processor name and suffix. On Windows 11, right-click Start, select System, and look under Device specifications for Processor. You can also press Ctrl + Shift + Esc, open Task Manager, and select the Performance tab followed by CPU.
Record the complete designation, not just “Ryzen 5” or “Ryzen 7.” A model’s series, generation, mobile suffix, graphics suffix, and PRO designation can affect how it should be matched against Microsoft’s table. This is especially important for Ryzen 3000, Ryzen PRO 3000, and Athlon 7000 U processors, where Microsoft lists exceptions.
The AMD list does not decide an existing PC’s upgrade eligibility by itself
Microsoft describes the processor tables as specifications for CPUs that OEMs may use in new Windows devices, including devices with custom Windows images. Microsoft also states that changes to these lists do not indicate or change support for an existing customer’s Windows installation.
That distinction matters when a computer has a processor that appears to fit one of the listed families. Windows 11 eligibility also depends on requirements such as TPM 2.0, firmware configuration, Secure Boot, system memory, storage, and graphics support. Microsoft directs people checking a particular device to use the PC Health Check app instead of relying only on the OEM processor table.

Check the complete result with PC Health Check
- Install the PC Health Check app if it is not already installed.
- Right-click Start and select Search.
- In the Type here to search box, enter
pc health check. - Under Best match, select PC Health Check.
- In the app, select Check now.
The result checks the computer as a whole rather than looking only at the AMD processor family. If you recently replaced the CPU, motherboard, or firmware, Windows Update may take up to 24 hours to refresh its eligibility information. During that period, PC Health Check and the Windows Update message can temporarily disagree.
Even after a computer becomes eligible, Microsoft does not guarantee that the Windows 11 upgrade will be offered immediately. Rollout timing can also consider reliability metrics, device age, hardware eligibility, and other factors.
Check TPM 2.0 on an AMD computer
TPM 2.0 is required for Windows 11. AMD systems commonly provide it through firmware rather than a separate plug-in TPM module. Depending on the motherboard or computer manufacturer, the UEFI option may be called:
- Security Device
- Security Device Support
- TPM State
- AMD fTPM switch
- AMD PSP fTPM
To check the TPM version from Windows:
- Press Windows key + R.
- Enter
tpm.mscand select OK. - Under TPM Manufacturer Information, find Specification Version.
- Confirm that the value is 2.0 or higher.
If the console says Compatible TPM cannot be found, that does not automatically mean the AMD platform lacks TPM 2.0. A disabled firmware TPM can produce this message. Similarly, if Windows Security has no Security processor section, Microsoft recommends checking whether the TPM is disabled in UEFI firmware or consulting the computer manufacturer’s instructions.

Refresh Windows 11 eligibility after hardware changes
After installing a supported CPU, changing the motherboard, or updating firmware, you can manually run Microsoft’s compatibility assessment task.
Using Task Scheduler
- Search for Task Scheduler and open it.
- In the left pane, go to Task Scheduler Library > Microsoft > Windows > Application Experience.
- Right-click Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser.
- Select Run.
- Refresh the view with Action > Refresh.
- When the task’s Status shows Ready, it has finished.
If Task Scheduler reports The user account does not have permission to run this task, use an administrator account or run the command-line method below.
Using an administrator Command Prompt
- Open Command Prompt with Run as administrator.
- Select Yes at the User Account Control prompt.
- Run this command:
schtasks.exe /Run /TN "MicrosoftWindowsApplication ExperienceMicrosoft Compatibility Appraiser"
Press Enter, then wait several minutes for the assessment task to complete. Windows Update may still need additional time before its eligibility message changes.
What happens if a newer AMD processor is missing from the table?
Microsoft says the processor pages can lag current AMD offerings. A processor released after the table was published may still be treated as supported when it follows the same security, reliability, and minimum-requirement principles. Microsoft updates the lists with subsequent Windows general-availability releases, so the absence of a newly released model is not by itself proof of incompatibility.

For a computer already in use, the practical test remains PC Health Check, followed by checks of TPM 2.0 and the other Windows 11 requirements.
Claims to avoid
- “Any Ryzen 3000 CPU works with Windows 11.” This is too broad. Microsoft’s 25H2 table includes a G and GE exception for Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen PRO 3000.
- “The AMD table alone decides whether my existing PC can upgrade.” It does not. Microsoft characterizes the table mainly as an OEM processor specification and recommends PC Health Check for individual devices.
- “A supported AMD processor guarantees an upgrade offer.” TPM 2.0 and other requirements still apply, and Microsoft may delay the offer after hardware changes.
- “The page lists every individual Ryzen model.” The 25H2 page is organized primarily by family and series, with exceptions. It is not a complete consumer SKU-by-SKU eligibility checker.
FAQ
What is the latest Windows 11 AMD compatibility list?
Microsoft’s latest published AMD processor table is for Windows 11 version 25H2, updated October 30, 2025. Windows 11 version 26H1 is shown in Microsoft’s index, but no AMD processor-list link is currently provided for it.
Is every Ryzen 3000 processor supported by Windows 11?
No. Microsoft’s 25H2 table lists Ryzen 3000 Series with a G and GE exception. Ryzen PRO 3000 Series has the same exception, so the exact model and suffix must be checked.
How do I check whether my AMD PC can run Windows 11?
Run Microsoft’s PC Health Check app and select Check now. The app evaluates the complete device, including requirements beyond the processor family.

How can I check TPM 2.0 in Windows?
Press Windows key + R, enter tpm.msc, and select OK. In the console, check Specification Version under TPM Manufacturer Information. Windows 11 requires version 2.0 or higher.
Why does Windows say that a compatible TPM cannot be found?
The firmware TPM may be disabled. On AMD systems, look in UEFI for options such as AMD fTPM switch, AMD PSP fTPM, Security Device, or TPM State. Consult the motherboard or PC manufacturer’s instructions before changing firmware settings.
Why has Windows Update not offered Windows 11 after I changed my CPU?
Eligibility information can take up to 24 hours to refresh after hardware changes. You can run the Microsoft Compatibility Appraiser task manually, but Microsoft also considers rollout timing, reliability metrics, device age, and other factors.
The Bottom Line
For Windows 11 25H2, Microsoft lists a broad range of AMD Athlon, EPYC, Ryzen, Ryzen PRO, and Threadripper families. However, family names are not always enough: Ryzen 3000, Ryzen PRO 3000, and Athlon 7000 U entries include exceptions. Find the exact CPU model, check TPM 2.0 with tpm.msc, and use PC Health Check to determine the eligibility of the entire computer.
