To run a 24/7 YouTube stream without leaving your computer on, use a cloud streaming service that hosts or receives prerecorded video and sends it to YouTube. This works for loops and playlists, not for capturing a live camera feed that has no remote source. Before you start, enable YouTube Live, check your service’s current plan and workflow, and plan separately for stream archives and content rights.
Choose a streaming approach
The right option depends on whether your content is prerecorded or genuinely live. YouTube’s encoder directory includes cloud-based tools for 24/7 prerecorded streams, as well as software and standalone hardware encoders for other workflows.

YouTube lists Gyre as a cloud-based 24/7 tool for prerecorded video. OneStream Live’s help documentation says its 24/7 feature requires an Enterprise plan; that is a vendor-specific plan statement, not a YouTube requirement. Compare services by source type, local-device requirements, setup, storage, monitoring, recovery, pricing, archive needs, and rights management. The available research does not establish a best-value or most-reliable provider.
Set up a cloud stream
- Choose the source and hosting model. For a prerecorded loop or playlist, select a cloud service whose current plan supports continuous YouTube streaming. For genuinely live video, determine where the camera or production source will run; uploading prerecorded files cannot replace an absent live camera.
- Enable YouTube Live early. YouTube says first-time live activation may take up to 24 hours. Complete the channel’s current eligibility and activation steps before your planned launch.
- Create or select a stream. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create a stream or select an existing configuration. A conventional encoder uses YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Cloud services may instead connect through account authorization or another workflow, so follow the service’s current setup instructions.
- Upload or select authorized video and configure playback. Set details such as title, privacy, thumbnail, schedule, and loop according to the service’s current workflow. These controls vary by provider.
- Start and check the broadcast. Check the YouTube preview and stream health in Live Control Room, and verify audio and video before promoting the stream. When a cloud service originates the broadcast, your computer is not acting as the encoder.
- Plan recording separately. If you need a saved replay, schedule sessions shorter than 12 hours and keep a separate recording backup where feasible. YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all.
What to expect from cloud playout
With cloud playout, the provider sends prerecorded content to YouTube from its own infrastructure, rather than relying on your computer as the encoder. Your computer can be off after the provider has the source and the stream is configured. Uploading the file still requires an internet connection, and any stream controls or recovery behavior depend on the service.

YouTube archives and monetization
Continuous transmission and a complete saved replay are separate requirements. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If the archive matters, use shorter sessions and maintain a separate recording backup where feasible.

Looping or rebroadcasting does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams and says content should be original and authentic. Reused content must add significant original commentary, substantive changes, or educational or entertainment value; repetitive or mass-produced content may also be ineligible.
Rights and live content
Use only material you have the necessary rights to broadcast, including music. YouTube’s livestream terms also require creators to follow Community Guidelines and applicable legal requirements. A cloud service does not grant rights to the video or audio you upload.

FAQ
Can I stream prerecorded videos 24/7 on YouTube without a PC?
Yes. A cloud streaming service that hosts or receives prerecorded video can send it continuously to YouTube without your personal computer acting as the encoder. Check that the provider’s current plan supports your intended workflow.
Can cloud playout stream a live camera feed while my computer is off?
Not by itself. A genuinely live camera or production feed must still be captured and sent from somewhere, such as remote production equipment or a suitable server. A prerecorded cloud playlist is a different workflow.

Does YouTube save the full replay of a 24/7 stream?
Not necessarily. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived and warns that longer streams may not be captured at all. Use shorter sessions and a separate recording backup if you need a complete replay.
Will a 24/7 loop automatically earn monetization?
No. YouTube applies its monetization policies to live streams. Repetitive or reused material may not qualify; content should be original and authentic, and reused content should add significant value.
