Exynos 1680 leads in the benchmark figures available, but those scores do not establish a universal winner. CpuTronic lists higher Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu 10 results for Exynos 1680, though its page does not document a matched-device test with comparable cooling, firmware, or score-collection conditions. For a real purchase, compare the phones themselves—not just their processors.
How the specifications compare
The specification sheets point to different strengths, but several details come from third-party listings rather than the chipmakers. Samsung and Qualcomm platform capabilities are not guarantees that a phone maker will enable every feature.

Matching nominal process labels do not prove equal performance or efficiency. Likewise, peak download rates are platform maxima, not expected everyday speeds: the phone’s modem configuration, supported bands, carrier, network conditions, and market variant all matter.

What the manufacturers’ improvement claims mean
Samsung says the Exynos 1680 GPU delivers a 16% performance increase over the Exynos 1580, based on Samsung’s internal tests; the company notes results can vary with operating conditions. Samsung also describes the NPU as rated at 19.6 TOPS based on internal test results. These figures are claims against Samsung’s own baseline, not direct tests against Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Qualcomm claims up to 10% better CPU performance, over 30% improved graphics rendering, and over 20% improved AI performance for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 compared with Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. All three listed comparisons favor Exynos 1680. However, CpuTronic does not provide enough detail about matched retail phones, cooling, firmware, benchmark versions, or score collection to treat these as a controlled chip-only result. The same page includes 3DMark results from different phones, including a Samsung Galaxy A57 for Exynos 1680 and other devices for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Those entries cannot isolate the processor’s contribution. Geekbench’s live Android listing includes Samsung Galaxy A36 results with Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, but does not establish a matched Exynos 1680 handset comparison. What that means for gaming, AI, and cameras
Gaming
Exynos 1680’s Xclipse 550 is based on AMD RDNA 3, while Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 uses an Adreno GPU and supports selected gaming features such as Variable Rate Shading. The available vendor claims use different comparison chips, and the published 3DMark entries come from different handsets. They do not establish which chip sustains higher frame rates or runs cooler in a given game. Phone cooling, graphics settings, software, and sustained-load behavior can change the experience.
On-device AI
Samsung publishes a 19.6 TOPS NPU rating based on its internal testing. Qualcomm identifies its AI Engine and claims an improvement over Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, but provides no corresponding TOPS figure on the reviewed page. Since the measurement and baseline are not matched, neither figure alone proves which phone will perform better in a particular AI feature. App support and the handset maker’s implementation also matter.

Photography and video
The platforms list support for 200 MP-class capture, but that does not mean a phone will include a 200 MP sensor. Sensor selection, image processing, camera software, and supported recording modes are handset decisions. The listed 4K frame rates—60 fps for Exynos 1680 and 30 fps for Snapdragon 6 Gen 3—are platform capabilities in CpuTronic’s comparison, not a guarantee that every phone enables those modes.

CpuTronic associates the Exynos 1680 with the Samsung Galaxy A57. Geekbench’s Android listing associates the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 with the Samsung Galaxy A36. Treat these as device-search starting points, not confirmation that every regional version uses the same processor. Verify the exact model number and local specification page before buying. How to choose between phones with these chips
Compare the specific models and configurations available where you live. A useful checklist is:
- Price and storage: compare the local price for the same memory and storage configuration.
- Display: check panel quality, brightness, and refresh rate in the exact model.
- Battery and charging: compare capacity and charging speed, then look for independent endurance tests of the phones rather than inferring battery life from the chip.
- Cameras: check the actual sensors and enabled photo and video modes.
- Software support: compare each phone maker’s update policy and support period.
- Connectivity: verify regional 5G bands, Wi-Fi capability, and the exact model variant for your carrier.
- Gaming: seek sustained gaming and temperature tests conducted under comparable conditions on the actual phones.
If the phones are otherwise similar and benchmark throughput is your main concern, the published database snapshot gives Exynos 1680 the edge. If the handset designs, prices, or support policies differ, those phone-level trade-offs are more useful than an unverified assumption about chip performance.
