The Galaxy M47 5G lists a smoother 120 Hz display and a larger 6,000 mAh battery; the Galaxy M17 5G lists a 90 Hz display and a 5,000 mAh battery. Samsung’s published specifications also give the M17 a 13 MP front camera versus 12 MP on the M47. Samsung’s display measurements account for rounded corners, so the M47’s 16.91 cm full-rectangle figure should not be read as a directly comparable rounded-corner screen measurement. The M17 launched with Android 15 and One UI 7; Samsung’s M47 manual is listed as Android 16, dated June 2026. A launch software version is not necessarily the version currently installed on a phone.
Which screen and battery differences matter?
Display refresh rate
The M47’s listed maximum refresh rate is 120 Hz, compared with 90 Hz on the M17. A higher refresh rate can make supported scrolling and animations appear smoother, although the difference depends on the app, settings, and content. These specifications do not establish brightness, color accuracy, or overall display quality.
Battery capacity and charging
The M47 has the higher stated typical battery capacity: 6,000 mAh versus 5,000 mAh for the M17. Capacity alone cannot predict how long either phone lasts; actual endurance depends on the display, processor, signal conditions, settings, and workload. How do the cameras compare?
Samsung lists the same 50 MP + 5 MP + 2 MP rear-camera arrangement with OIS on both models. OIS can help compensate for movement, but matching listed hardware does not prove equal photo or video results. The M17’s 13 MP front-camera resolution is higher than the M47’s 12 MP; megapixel count alone does not determine selfie quality.
What performance and storage information is established?
Samsung names the Exynos 1330 in the M17 launch announcement. The Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 attribution for the M47 comes from 91mobiles, not the Samsung product page cited here. Without independent head-to-head testing, these processor names are not enough to claim which phone is faster in everyday use, games, or sustained workloads.

The M17 was announced in 4/128 GB, 6/128 GB, and 8/128 GB configurations. The cited M47 Samsung page is for an 8/128 GB version and describes microSD expansion up to 2 TB through a hybrid SIM slot. Check the exact variant and SIM arrangement in the listing for the phone you intend to buy; configurations and availability can vary.
What are the India prices, and is there a verified price difference?
Samsung India’s October 13, 2025 launch announcement listed the M17 at the following prices. The base price included a special launch offer, so these are historical launch figures, not current quotes.

The company qualifies these policies: the M17 page says the information describes current plans and is not a commitment, while the M47 page says the policy can change. Samsung lists the M47 security-update period through July 31, 2032. The stated period is useful when considering how long you plan to keep a phone, but it does not guarantee a specific update’s delivery date.

- Consider the M47 if: you prioritize the higher listed refresh rate and larger stated battery capacity, and its verified configuration and current price suit your budget.
