These five doorbell cameras can save recordings without requiring a recurring recording-plan fee, but “no subscription” means something different for each. Some store footage on the device or an indoor hub; Aqara also offers a limited free cloud history. Compare the storage method, installation, and smart-home fit—not just the alert features—before choosing.
What “no subscription” means for a doorbell camera
A camera is useful without a paid plan only if you can retrieve recorded events without paying recurring fees. Live view and motion alerts alone do not provide a saved event history. Local storage avoids a cloud recording plan, but may require a separate card or hub; free cloud clips can have limited retention. Enhanced features may still depend on a paid service.
The models below are a practical shortlist, not a definitive ranking of every product on the market. No hands-on tests or current prices are established here. Manufacturer statements describe advertised features; review observations are attributed to the reviewers.

Which model fits your entryway?
For a choice of wiring and network options: Reolink
Reolink’s US product page advertises 2K+ video, person and package detection, local storage, and no required monthly subscription across its doorbell range. It also lists Wi-Fi, PoE, and battery styles, so first decide how you can power and connect the camera. Then check the exact model’s storage medium and whether any card or other component is included; range-level claims do not establish the contents of a particular box. See Reolink’s US doorbell range.

For local recording in Eufy’s E340 or S330: check the bundle
Eufy’s US collection page names the E340 and S330 as local-storage doorbells that do not require a subscription. The company says Wi-Fi is needed to access the camera from a phone. Confirm whether the exact model and bundle you are considering uses or includes a HomeBase; the collection-level statement alone does not settle that detail. Check Eufy’s US doorbell collection.
For free cloud clips plus an optional local path: Aqara G4
Aqara says the G4 provides up to seven days of free event-cloud storage. Separately, it can record to a microSD card in the indoor chime; Aqara says the card is not included. These are distinct storage routes, so choose and set up the one that matches how you want to retrieve footage. Aqara notes that third-party cloud storage is separate from its own offering. The G4 supports HomeKit Secure Video and local streaming to Google and Alexa displays, according to Aqara. Its battery-life estimate assumes 35 device wake-ups and six-second event recordings per day; a different pattern of activity or settings may produce a different result. If using battery power, treat that estimate as conditional rather than a guaranteed interval between charges.

Check these details before you buy
- Confirm the exact model and bundle. Product families can span multiple power types and storage arrangements. Verify the model number, included card or hub, and any separately needed accessories on the current listing.
- Match storage to your retrieval needs. Local card, onboard memory, indoor-hub storage, and free cloud clips are not interchangeable. Check how footage is accessed and how much history is retained without payment.
- Check installation at your door. Existing wiring, PoE availability, battery charging, and the placement of an indoor chime or hub can determine whether a model is practical. Battery-life claims depend on usage and settings.
- Verify smart-home support for the exact model. Aqara documents HomeKit Secure Video and local streaming to Google and Alexa displays; do not assume another brand or model supports the same services.
- Separate core recording from advanced services. “No subscription required” does not mean unlimited cloud storage or that every enhanced feature is included. For example, Ring’s Wired Doorbell 2K page markets video descriptions and familiar-face notifications; check the current plan rules for your region before relying on those features. See Ring’s Wired Doorbell 2K page.
How to choose
- Decide where recordings should live. Choose local or onboard storage if you want to avoid recurring recording fees and are comfortable managing footage locally. Choose Aqara’s free event-cloud option only if its stated retention suits you; do not treat it as unlimited cloud history.
- Work backward from power and connectivity. Choose among wired, PoE, or battery options based on what your entryway supports and the installation you can manage.
- Check the features you will actually use. Confirm smart-display or home-platform support, package visibility, alert behavior, and two-way audio in the exact model’s documentation and current listing.
- Verify regional details before checkout. Stock, bundles, prices, storage capacity, and plan rules can change and may vary by region. The cited sources do not establish current prices.
