Tensor G6 is newer, and published Pixel 11 tests generally show higher CPU scores than Pixel 10 tests—but they do not establish that G6 is faster in every task. In Beebom’s 2026 comparison, the G6-equipped Pixel 11 Pro XL scored higher in Geekbench 6 and AnTuTu overall than the G5-equipped Pixel 10 Pro, while its AnTuTu GPU subscore and performance retention in a 15-minute CPU throttling test were lower. These are phone-to-phone results, not a controlled test of the processors alone.

Which phones use Tensor G5 and Tensor G6?

Google associates Tensor G5 with the Pixel 10 generation and Tensor G6 with Pixel 11 devices. That makes the practical choice a comparison between phones and their configurations, not a choice between standalone processors. Google’s Tensor G5 announcement, Pixel hardware specifications, and Pixel comparison page connect the chips to those phone generations.

The official Google materials reviewed identify G6 in Pixel 11 devices and describe Pixel 11 security features including quantum-safe secure boot, Tensor security core, Titan M3, and Trusty. They do not provide a complete G5-versus-G6 table of CPU/GPU clocks, manufacturing process, or benchmarks. Treat third-party G6 specifications as attributed reporting, not as a Google-published spec sheet.

How do the published benchmark results compare?

Beebom tested a Pixel 11 Pro XL with Tensor G6 against a Pixel 10 Pro with Tensor G5. Its 2026 figures show a mixed result: the G6 phone led in Geekbench 6 CPU scores and AnTuTu total, but not in every measurement.

CPU Throttling Test, 15 minutes 47% retained performance 61% retained performance G5 phone retained a larger share of peak performance

All five results are from Beebom’s comparison and apply to those tested phones and procedures, not every Pixel 11 or Pixel 10. Cooling, memory, software, and other device-level differences can affect outcomes. The 15-minute throttling figures describe retained performance in that test; they are not a general measure of everyday speed. Beebom’s comparison and test details provide the source context.

Do other phone tests show the same pattern?

Not exactly. Tom’s Guide reports these Geekbench 6 and 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited results for Pixel 11 and Pixel 10:

These are Tom’s Guide’s 2026 handset results, a separate test from Beebom’s Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro comparison. Keep the results distinct rather than averaging them into a single G5-to-G6 uplift: the phones and test conditions differ. Tom’s Guide’s Pixel 11 review lists its figures.

G5 scores also vary across Pixel 10 models. Android Central reports Geekbench 6 scores of 2,179 single-core and 4,777 multi-core for Pixel 10, compared with 2,333 and 6,375 for Pixel 10 Pro/XL. It points to differences including the Pro models’ vapor chamber and memory configurations as possible contributors. Its reported result of less than 20 fps for Pixel 10 devices is from 3DMark Wild Life Extreme, not the Wild Life Unlimited test above, so the two frame-rate results are not directly comparable. What do the results say about CPU, GPU, and sustained performance?

CPU performance

Both Beebom’s and Tom’s Guide’s Geekbench 6 tables show higher scores for the tested Pixel 11 than for the tested Pixel 10 counterpart. That supports a conclusion of stronger CPU benchmark performance for those G6-equipped phones in those tests; it does not guarantee the same margin on every model or in every app.

Graphics performance

The evidence is less uniform. Beebom’s AnTuTu GPU subscore favors its G5-equipped Pixel 10 Pro, while Tom’s Guide’s 3DMark Wild Life Unlimited result is slightly higher for its Pixel 11. These are different benchmarks with different procedures. Neither result alone settles gaming performance across titles, settings, or sustained play.

Google Pixel 3a, 64GB, Just Black - Unlocked (GSM Only) (Renewed)
  • Capture stunning photos with features like night sight, portrait mode, and HDR+.

Performance under sustained load

In Beebom’s 15-minute CPU Throttling Test, the G5 phone retained 61% of peak performance and the G6 phone 47%. This is a result for those specific devices and test conditions; it does not prove that every G5 phone will outperform every G6 phone in a long workload. Cooling and device configuration matter, as the variation among G5 Pixel 10 models also illustrates.

What can be said about on-device AI?

Google’s G5 announcement says Gemini Nano runs “2.6x faster and 2x more efficiently” for use cases such as Pixel Screenshots and Recorder, attributing the result to Tensor G5’s performance and optimizations in the latest model. That is Google’s claim about G5 and its stated use cases—not a direct G5-versus-G6 comparison or an independent benchmark. The source does not establish a corresponding G6-versus-G5 AI speed figure.

Beebom also reports an on-device Gemma test based on CPU execution. Because it does not engage the TPU, its measurements should not be treated as a measure of TPU performance.

Which Pixel generation makes more sense?

Use the benchmarks as one input, not as a substitute for comparing the actual phones. Published results suggest a CPU benchmark advantage for the tested Pixel 11 devices, but GPU and sustained-load results vary by benchmark and handset. The available evidence does not isolate the chip from cooling, memory, software, or other hardware differences.

  • Choose based on a specific workload: for gaming, sustained rendering, or other long sessions, look for results from the exact phone model and relevant graphics or sustained test. A single headline score is not enough.
  • Compare like with like: Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro results differ, so do not assume one G5 phone’s score represents the entire generation. Apply the same caution to Pixel 11 models.
  • Weigh device features alongside the chip: compare the phone’s configuration and the features you will use. The processor label alone does not determine the complete experience.
  • Read scores as dated snapshots: the cited third-party results are 2026 tests on particular devices and software, not a standardized, chip-only dataset.
