Neither chip is a universal performance winner. Published comparison aggregates give Tensor G2 a small CPU single-core lead, while multi-core results range from a Tensor G2 lead to an effective tie. GPU results depend on the test: Exynos 2100 leads one compute comparison, and Tensor G2 leads one 3DMark test. These are comparison-site aggregates, not controlled tests of matched phones.
How the processors differ on paper
Both are eight-core mobile system-on-chips (SoCs), and comparison pages list both as 5 nm. Samsung’s official Exynos 2100 page confirms its process and CPU configuration; Tensor G2’s listed configuration below comes from comparison sources rather than an official specification source in this comparison.
| Specification | Samsung Exynos 2100 | Google Tensor G2 |
|---|---|---|
| CPU | 1× Cortex-X1 up to 2.9 GHz; 3× Cortex-A78 up to 2.8 GHz; 4× Cortex-A55 up to 2.2 GHz | 2× Cortex-X1 up to 2.85 GHz; 2× Cortex-A78 up to 2.35 GHz; 4× Cortex-A55 up to 1.8 GHz |
| GPU | Mali-G78 MP14 | Mali-G710 MP7 |
| Process | 5 nm FinFET, per Samsung | 5 nm, per comparison pages |
| Memory and storage support | LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1, per Samsung | Not established by an official source in the sources cited here |
| AI hardware | Triple-core NPU and DSP; Samsung states up to 26 TOPS | Google Tensor Processing Unit, per NanoReview; no comparable TOPS figure established here |
Sources: Samsung Exynos 2100 specifications, NanoReview comparison, and CPU-Monkey comparison. A matching “5 nm” label does not establish equal power efficiency. Likewise, GPU core counts span different generations and do not by themselves predict graphics performance.
What the CPU benchmark results show
Both comparison sites report Geekbench 6 scores, but their aggregates differ. Tensor G2 scores higher in single-core in both sets; multi-core ranges from a clear-looking lead in NanoReview’s figures to a near tie in CPU-Monkey’s.

| Source and test | Exynos 2100 | Tensor G2 | What it indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,435 | 1,461 | Small Tensor G2 lead in this aggregate |
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,555 | 3,867 | Tensor G2 leads in this aggregate |
| CPU-Monkey Geekbench 6 single-core | 1,334 | 1,426 | Tensor G2 leads, with different absolute scores from NanoReview |
| CPU-Monkey Geekbench 6 multi-core | 3,339 | 3,342 | Effectively level in this aggregate |
These are published comparison-page aggregates, not results from a same-device laboratory test. Phone cooling, firmware, memory, benchmark version, and the mix of submitted devices can affect scores. The figures therefore do not establish a precise performance gain you should expect from one handset over another.
Why the GPU results do not name one winner
The reported results change with the graphics workload and measurement method. NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 GPU compute comparison favors Exynos 2100, but the listed APIs are OpenCL for Exynos and Vulkan for Tensor G2, so the scores are not directly equivalent. In 3DMark Steel Nomad Light, Tensor G2 scores higher; in Wild Life Extreme, the scores are close.
| Source and test | Exynos 2100 | Tensor G2 | Important context |
|---|---|---|---|
| NanoReview Geekbench 6 GPU compute | 6,754 | 4,715 | Exynos leads; APIs differ (OpenCL vs Vulkan) |
| NanoReview 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 328 | 702 | Tensor G2 leads; reported stability is 72% and 78%, respectively |
| NanoReview 3DMark Wild Life Extreme | 1,800 | 1,821 | Near tie; reported stability is 64% and 77%, respectively |
| CPU-Monkey theoretical iGPU FP32 throughput | 1,360 GFLOPS | 700 GFLOPS | Theoretical estimate, not a game frame-rate result |
Stability figures are those reported alongside NanoReview’s cited 3DMark results; they are not a guarantee of sustained frame rates in a particular phone. The theoretical FP32 estimates likewise should not be treated as a measure of game performance. For gaming, handset cooling, software, and the specific game matter alongside the chip.

Samsung says the Exynos 2100 improves single-core performance by up to 19% and multi-core performance by up to 33%. The stated baseline is Samsung’s predecessor, not Google Tensor G2. Samsung also advertises up to 26 TOPS for the Exynos 2100’s triple-core NPU and up to 46% improvement in GPU sustained performance relative to the prior generation. These are Samsung’s vendor claims, not independent measurements comparing the two chips.

- Google Pixel 7 featuring a refined aluminum camera housing, offering enhanced durability and a premium finish while complementing the updated camera bar for a more polished overall appearance.
Because the available AI figures do not measure both processors on the same task with the same method, they do not support a direct AI-performance ranking.

Which chip is faster for your use?
- CPU-heavy tasks: Tensor G2 has the modest single-core advantage in both cited Geekbench 6 aggregates. The multi-core outcome depends on the comparison source, so it is not a settled across-the-board lead.
- Graphics and games: The cited GPU tests disagree, and one compute comparison uses different APIs. They do not establish a universal gaming winner or predict frame rates for a specific phone.
- Choosing a phone: Chip benchmarks alone cannot determine the better handset. Camera hardware and processing, battery capacity, cooling, software support, price, and regional model configuration need to be evaluated separately.
