The best PS5 headset depends on what matters most: PlayStation integration, premium audio, comfort, multiplayer chat or switching between consoles. There is no single winner across current reviews: RTINGS names the Audeze Maxwell 2 its best-tested PS5 headset, while GamesRadar’s October 1, 2026 guide selects the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni. Those are each publisher’s assessments, not results from a shared head-to-head test. Here are five candidates and the buyer each one may suit.
How to choose a PS5 gaming headset
Start with how you connect, then weigh microphone controls, comfort and other devices you use. The feature checklist below helps narrow the choice without treating one review ranking as universal.
- PS5 connection and audio: Check whether the package includes a wireless adapter or hub and whether the model is intended for PlayStation. Sony says Tempest 3D AudioTech works through compatible headphones in supported games; owning a particular headset does not make the feature available in every game. Sony’s PULSE audio overview also describes PlayStation Link as low-latency, lossless wireless audio.
- Multiplayer: Look for a microphone you can position or mute easily, plus the chat and sidetone controls you need. The roundup sources do not provide a like-for-like microphone test for all five candidates.
- Other devices: Confirm Bluetooth, simultaneous connections, console switching and platform edition. Similar model names can hide different platform variants.
- Long sessions: Fit, clamping pressure and weight matter as much as audio features. A large battery claim does not tell you whether a headset will feel comfortable.
- Value: Compare the current local price, included adapter or base station, warranty and return policy. Prices and stock vary by region and are not established in the review coverage cited here.
Five PS5 headset candidates
This is a shortlist, not a universal ranking or a claim that the headsets were tested side by side. The recommendation in each entry is tied to the cited product information or reviewer’s stated use case.

Sony PULSE Elite: a PS5-first choice
PULSE Elite is the most direct fit if you want Sony’s own PS Link setup. Sony lists a PS Link USB adapter for PS5, PC and Mac, simultaneous PS Link and Bluetooth connectivity, a retractable microphone and planar magnetic drivers. Sony also claims up to 30 hours of battery life and up to two hours of charge from a 10-minute charge; those are manufacturer estimates, not independent runtime results. See Sony’s PULSE Elite product details.
#1 Best Overall
- TRIFORCE TITANIUM 50 MM DRIVERS — Our cutting-edge proprietary design divides the driver into 3 parts for the individual tuning of highs, mids, and lows—producing brighter, clearer audio with richer highs and more powerful lows
- HYPERCLEAR CARDIOID MIC — An improved pickup pattern ensures more voice and less noise as it tapers off towards the mic’s back and sides, with the sweet spot easily placed at the mouth because of the mic’s bendable design
- ADVANCED PASSIVE NOISE CANCELLATION — Sturdy closed earcups fully cover the ears to prevent noise from leaking into the headset, with its cushions providing a closer seal for more sound isolation
- LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN WITH MEMORY FOAM EAR CUSHIONS — At just 240 g, the headset features thicker headband padding and memory foam ear cushions with leatherette to keep gaming in peak form during grueling tournaments and training sessions
- VOLUME WHEEL — Its on-headset control makes it convenient to adjust audio levels without having to fiddle with any system or program settings
Sony says supported PS5 games can use Tempest 3D AudioTech through compatible headphones. That is a game-and-device support condition, not a guarantee that every PS5 title will provide 3D audio. The simultaneous PS Link and Bluetooth connection may also suit someone who wants console audio and a connection to another device, based on Sony’s description. Sony’s audio overview explains the platform features.
Audeze Maxwell 2 PlayStation: premium audio, with weight to consider
RTINGS names the Maxwell 2 its best-tested PS5 headset in its 2026 roundup, while PC Gamer presents it as a premium wireless audiophile gaming-headset option and describes its 90 mm planar drivers. These are those publishers’ judgments and descriptions, not a hands-on assessment for this guide. PC Gamer reports a weight of 560 g, which is worth considering if you wear a headset for long sessions; comfort will vary by person. Choose the PlayStation edition for a PS5-focused setup. Review coverage notes that Maxwell 2 has PlayStation and Xbox editions, so check the exact variant rather than assuming every listing is interchangeable.
SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Omni: premium multi-platform flexibility
GamesRadar’s guide, published October 1, 2026, names the Arctis Nova Pro Omni its best PS5 headset. Its roundup reports a Game Hub, hot-swappable batteries and simultaneous connection to as many as four platforms. That makes it a candidate for someone who prioritizes managing multiple devices, but the “best” label reflects GamesRadar’s assessment rather than a consensus across reviewers. See GamesRadar’s PS5 accessories guide.

- Hear your Voice Level with Variable Mic Monitoring
- Low-Latency 2.4GHz Wireless plus Bluetooth 5.2 Connectivity
- Amplified 40mm Drivers for Powerful Spatial Audio
- QuickSwitch Button for Seamless Wireless to Bluetooth Switching

SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7P: a PlayStation-oriented midrange option
The Nova 7 family has distinct versions. RTINGS identifies the 7P as the PlayStation design and says its review was updated June 23, 2026. Do not assume a generic Nova 7 listing—or the 7X variant—is the same PlayStation-oriented model. Check the full model name and generation before buying. RTINGS’ Nova 7 review distinguishes the versions.
Tom’s Guide separately reviews the Nova 7 Gen 2, covering its compatibility, battery and connectivity updates. Keep that generation separate from earlier Nova 7 coverage when comparing specifications; a feature stated for Gen 2 should not automatically be attributed to every Nova 7 variant. See Tom’s Guide’s Nova 7 Gen 2 review.

- Mappable Wheel and Mode Button for Customizable Functions
- QuickSwitch Button for Seamless Wireless to Bluetooth switching

Logitech Astro A50 X: a candidate for a PS5-and-Xbox setup
GamesRadar includes the Astro A50 X as an option for PS5 players who also own an Xbox Series X. That makes it relevant when one headset needs to fit a multi-console setup. The cited roundup does not establish the detailed connection steps or compatibility for every setup, so check the manufacturer’s instructions for the exact model and consoles before purchase. GamesRadar’s coverage is at its PS5 accessories guide.
Which headset is best for PS5 or PS5 Pro?
For a PS5-first setup with Sony’s stated PS Link features, consider PULSE Elite. For a premium audio-focused candidate, compare the PlayStation version of Audeze Maxwell 2 and account for its reported 560 g weight. If multi-platform connectivity is the priority, GamesRadar’s Nova Pro Omni pick and its Astro A50 X use case are worth examining. For a PlayStation-oriented midrange candidate, confirm that a Nova 7 listing is specifically the 7P and check its generation.

Quick Recap
Check the exact model before buying
- Match the platform edition. For the Nova 7 line, confirm 7P if you want the PlayStation-oriented variant. For Maxwell 2, select the PlayStation edition. For other multi-platform models, verify the exact console compatibility with the manufacturer.
- Check what is in the box. Confirm whether a USB adapter, hub or other connection hardware is included and whether it suits your intended setup.
- Compare comfort details. Look for weight and fit information, and consider return terms if you cannot try the headset first. PC Gamer’s reported 560 g figure for Maxwell 2 is one concrete point of comparison, not a comfort verdict for every wearer.
- Treat battery life as an estimate. Sony’s PULSE Elite page says “up to 30 hours”; actual runtime can vary with use. The cited coverage does not supply a comparable independent battery test for all five models.
- Verify local terms. Check the current price, regional availability, warranty and return policy for the exact product variant before placing an order.
