If navigator.gpu exists but navigator.gpu.requestAdapter() resolves to null, the WebGPU entry point is exposed, but the browser did not provide an adapter for that request. Check for a null result before requesting a device, then diagnose the browser, system, and request options.
Why the two checks are different
navigator.gpu tells you that the current context exposes WebGPU’s entry point. It does not guarantee that a suitable adapter is available. The request returns a promise, and MDN explains that it resolves to null when an appropriate adapter is unavailable: MDN: GPU.requestAdapter().
if (!navigator.gpu) {
throw new Error("WebGPU API is unavailable in this context");
}
const adapter = await navigator.gpu.requestAdapter();
if (!adapter) {
throw new Error("No appropriate WebGPU adapter is available");
}
const device = await adapter.requestDevice();
The first check handles an unavailable API; the second handles an unsuccessful adapter request. Do not call requestDevice() until you have confirmed that adapter is not null.

- The Geforce 210 is with a 589MHz core clock,up to 1066Mbps effective,perfect for working,video and photo editing,allows good fluency,which can effectively meet your needs.
- PCI Express 2.0 interface,offers compatibility with a range of systems. Also includes VGA and HDMI outputs for expanded connectivity,supports up to 2 monitors.Good for adding a simple low profile gpu to a small form factor pc.
- The computer graphics cards is small in size and saves more space,easy to install,plug and play,you can build a compact PC system easily for slim/ITX chassis.
- This low profile video card is good value option for entry level, if you just want basic upgrade graphics and daily simple work for your computer, or not be AAA gamer.(include low profile bracket)
- No external power supply and the all-solid-state capacitor keeps low power consumption and high performance,supports Windows 10/8/7/Vista/XP(not compatible with windows 11).
- Check graphics acceleration. Open Chrome Settings → System and check “Use graphics acceleration when available.” Chrome’s guide says WebGPU is disabled when this setting is off.
- Check platform support and configuration. Chrome’s guide names
chrome://flags/#enable-unsafe-webgpufor experimental WebGPU configuration andchrome://flags/#enable-vulkanfor experimental Linux support. Treat these as Chrome troubleshooting flags, not routine settings to enable blindly. - Check whether Chrome blocklisted the GPU. Open
chrome://gpuand look for “WebGPU has been disabled via blocklist or the command line.” Flags that override a blocklist may weaken browser safeguards, so do not treat them as a universal first fix. - Compare the request options. If your code passes options to
requestAdapter(), try a plainnavigator.gpu.requestAdapter()for diagnosis. A request hint can affect adapter selection. - Check GPU detection. In
chrome://gpu, see whether Chrome detects a GPU. - Consider a GPU-process crash. Reload the page or restart Chrome. If the problem persists, record the browser and version, operating system, GPU and driver, request options, and relevant
chrome://gpustatus before seeking help.
Review your adapter request options
With no arguments, requestAdapter() asks for the default adapter. The browser chooses whether to return an adapter and which one to select based on the request and available system resources.
Power preference
powerPreference is a hint, not a command to select a particular GPU. Selection may depend on factors such as battery state, attached displays, or removable GPUs. A high-performance hint can increase power use and the risk of device loss, so use it only when your application needs it. If the hint appears to be involved, compare the result with a request that omits it.

Compatibility feature level
MDN documents featureLevel: "compatibility" as a way to request a restricted feature subset intended to run on older graphics APIs, including OpenGL ES 3.1 and Direct3D 11. Consider it only where the implementation supports the option; it does not guarantee that an adapter will be available.

Some browsers may provide a fallback adapter, including a software implementation, but availability varies by system. Do not rely on a software fallback to resolve a null result. MDN’s reviewed documentation also says no browser supports the forceFallbackAdapter option.

- Boost Clock: 1430 MHz
- Memory Interface: 64-bit

Keep API exposure separate from adapter acquisition
Secure-context requirements and browser compatibility matter, but they mainly help explain whether WebGPU is exposed at all. MDN identifies requestAdapter() as secure-context-only in supporting browsers. Chrome’s API-exposure guidance says WebGPU is accessible in secure contexts and lists minimum versions of Chrome 113 on ChromeOS, macOS, and Windows, and Chrome 121 on Android. Those version notes concern API exposure; they do not guarantee that an adapter will be returned. See Chrome’s troubleshooting guidance for the distinction.
If navigator.gpu already exists, focus on why the request did not yield an adapter rather than assuming that an HTTPS or version issue explains the null result. For a diagnosis beyond Chrome, gather the browser and version, operating system, GPU and driver, page origin, exact request options, and any available browser GPU diagnostics. Chrome flags and blocklist behavior should not be prescribed as fixes for other browsers.
