Apple’s A16 Bionic leads the Google Tensor G4 in the Geekbench 6 CPU results cited here: it scores 2,631 versus 1,707 in single-core testing and 6,602 versus 4,431 in multi-core testing. These are reported comparison-page figures, not a controlled test of every phone or a guarantee of performance in every task. For a phone purchase, compare the complete devices as well as their chips.

What the Tensor G4 vs A16 Bionic comparison shows

The comparison page lists different CPU designs and higher Geekbench 6 scores for A16 Bionic in both CPU tests. It also reports AnTuTu and GPU compute figures, but those results have important cross-platform limits and do not establish a universal winner.

NanoReview’s Tensor G4 vs A16 Bionic comparison reports 11 Geekbench CPU samples for Tensor G4 and 24 for A16 Bionic. Its AnTuTu aggregation lists 25 Tensor G4 tests and 36 A16 tests. Those sample counts provide context for the published figures; they do not amount to a controlled, same-device laboratory comparison.

Which chip is faster in CPU benchmarks?

Single-core performance

In the cited Geekbench 6 results, A16 Bionic scores 2,631 and Tensor G4 scores 1,707. Single-core scores can help compare performance in work that mainly uses one CPU core, but an individual phone’s result can vary with its hardware, software, and test conditions.

#1 Best Overall
Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Multi-core performance

A16 Bionic also leads in the reported Geekbench 6 multi-core result: 6,602 compared with Tensor G4’s 4,431. The higher score indicates an advantage in that benchmark’s multi-core test; it does not show that every app or sustained workload will behave the same way.

Why the other benchmark numbers need caution

AnTuTu totals

NanoReview lists AnTuTu 11 totals of 1,519,937 for Tensor G4 and 1,626,008 for A16 Bionic, but cautions that Android and iOS results are not directly comparable. Do not treat the small numerical gap as a clean cross-platform verdict.

GPU compute scores

The reported Geekbench GPU compute scores are 8,744 for Tensor G4 and 22,851 for A16 Bionic. NanoReview identifies different APIs—OpenCL and Metal—behind these figures. Because the tests do not use the same API, the scores should not be read as a straightforward head-to-head measure of graphics performance.

Core counts, frequencies, and bandwidth

Tensor G4 has more listed CPU cores, while A16 Bionic has the higher listed maximum frequency. Neither core count nor clock rate alone determines speed: chip architecture, device implementation, software, workload, and operating conditions also matter. The listed memory-bandwidth figures likewise do not establish which chip will be faster in a particular application.

Which phones use these processors?

Google associates Tensor G4 with the Google Pixel 9, while Apple identifies A16 Bionic as the processor in the iPhone 15. These handset examples help put the chip comparison in context: most buyers choose between phones, not standalone mobile processors. Results and everyday experience depend on the whole phone and its software, not just the SoC.

How to choose between the phones

If your decision is narrowly about the cited Geekbench 6 CPU results, A16 Bionic is ahead in both tests. That evidence does not establish an overall phone-buying winner or a controlled real-world winner for sustained performance, battery impact, or every workload.
