To find a password saved on your iPhone, open the Passwords app on iOS 18 or later, authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode, then select the saved account. On iOS 17 or earlier, go to Settings > Passwords. Face ID is how you unlock the saved credentials; it is not a password you can reveal.
How do I find my saved passwords with Face ID?
Use the steps for your iOS version:

Apple says the Passwords app requires iOS 18. You can unlock it with Face ID or Touch ID, or enter your device passcode. Select an entry to view its details; tap the Password field to view or copy the saved password. Apple’s instructions for finding saved passwords cover both paths.

Apple also gives Siri examples such as “Show my passwords” or “What is my Hulu password?” If you use Siri, it may ask you to authenticate before showing credential information. Apple’s saved-password guidance includes these examples.
What does “Face ID password” mean?
Face ID is biometric authentication, not a separate password stored on your iPhone. It can authorize access to Passwords or help you sign in, but it cannot reveal an unknown device passcode or Apple Account password. The steps above apply to credentials that were saved in Apple Passwords or iCloud Keychain.

A saved entry may contain a website or app password, a passkey, a verification code, a Wi-Fi password, or credentials shared with a group. A passkey is not a password you can reveal and copy; on a supported sign-in screen, Face ID or Touch ID can authenticate with it instead. Find a password without opening its details
If your goal is to sign in, you may not need to read the password. On a supported website or app, Password AutoFill can offer a saved password or passkey and fill it after authentication. Apple’s general control is at Settings > General > AutoFill & Passwords. For Safari password autofill, Apple also documents Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Password AutoFill. Menu labels can vary by iOS version. Apple’s Face ID settings guide describes the Safari control, while the AutoFill guide covers the general setting.

To see which apps are allowed to use Face ID, open Settings > Face ID & Passcode > Other Apps. Face ID may also sign you in to certain apps; this does not mean the app password itself is displayed. Apple’s Face ID guide describes these options.

- Look in All. In the Passwords app, check All instead of a narrower category or shared group. On earlier iOS versions, check the Passwords screen and the selected group.
- Check deleted entries. Look in Deleted or Recently Deleted for an entry removed recently.
- Check the password manager you use. If you selected a third-party password manager, the credential may be stored there rather than in Apple Passwords.
- Check iCloud Keychain across devices. If you expect a password from another Apple device, confirm iCloud Keychain is enabled and the devices use the same Apple Account. Apple says Keychain keeps credentials current across approved devices.
- Consider whether it is a passkey. A passkey may let you sign in without a visible password; look for the saved entry in Passwords and use it on a supported sign-in screen.
Apple documents credential categories, deleted entries, shared groups, and Keychain syncing in its saved-password instructions and Passwords app guide. If the credential is not saved in Apple Passwords, check the password manager that stores it.
